But we're not drawing all our games. We are winning some too, which is why we are in promotion play off territory and not relegation play off territory. Of course, we should be winning more and scoring more than we have been, but that is because we don't have a striker on a good run or midfielders chipping in with a few. We all know that strikers tend to blow hot and cold and it is often something quite intangible that sparks a good run. But with a solid defence, even a modest improvement in front of goal would turn draws into wins and see us comfortably in the promotion play off places. It has often been said that strikers win matches but defenders win championships. Defensively we have been pretty sound having conceded only 6 goals in the league in 10 games. It is good that we have not lost games where we are having difficulty finding the net. There are games where we have come away with a point more than we might have, and our opponents have been restricted to one point rather than 3. That is something to be positive about. Of course, it would be much more positive if we could turn some of those draws into wins.
  2. Hi MJ, according to the WHO obesity rates have increased 93% since 1996 and two thirds today of the male population in the UK are classified as overweight or obese (also a WHO stat). If you are overweight you cannot compete at a contact sport (there are a few exceptions) I include rugby, football, boxing, wrestling you are soft, as you cannot cope with the physical challenge, you simply have not developed the necessary amount of muscle which is gained through training, nor the courage to get into direct confrontation. We are told that the youngsters today are spending on average 5-7 hours on social media that hardly leaves time for anything else outside of school and studying. As regards entitlement, I know of several employers who have offered jobs to unemployed lads, effectively apprenticeships and they cannot find an assistant, the various excuses are 1) the start time is too early 7.00am 2) the work is too heavy 3) The wages are too low, when I started work my annual wage was £600, less than my part time summer job paid me pro rata. I could also bore you with stories of the Welfare league in this area but I wont bother. Look, I'm not going to tar an entire generation with my comments because there are exceptions but as a generalisation my comments are fair. PS Add in the attitude of schools today when we can have no winners and no losers and you end up with a generation of non triers where even the losers WIN ie give grades for qualifications which are in fact a FAIL. Sorry, I need to lie down now.
  3. Innes Bar is about the closest, well run pub. Caley Club is the club/fan where buses run to game.

It's a little frustrating not to be a bit further up the table, but we're still very much in the game. Heck, if we were in Falkirk's position then I'd be wetting my knickers along with everyone else...but we're a long way from that and not even a third of the way into the season. The points on the board are fixed, they're done with, in the past....there's nothing we can do about them. However, there are still plenty of points to be won and we CAN do something about them. Believe ?

While the amount of draws we've had is extremely frustrating, I'm inclined to be a glass half full kind of guy and would much rather be sitting in this position than having lost a heap of those games we've drawn. I agree with what most people are saying but at least we have a foundation for which we can build on. I'd rather the team went into training and matches with a belief that they are solid at the back and can work on the midfield and attacking element of the game, yes it might not show just now but I do have a belief that it will come. Maybe a change in playing style when going forward is needed.

  8. A bit harsh although lack of finance can't be an entire excuse. Ayr United managed to unearth a prolific striker on a budget less than ours who propelled them to one promotion and may well take them to another. Livingston, fresh from league One last season, achieved promotion to the Premiership on a budget lower than ours and with crowds considerably lower than ours and look very like retaining that status even this early in the season. We really must start being more positive and taking more risks, maybe both on and off the pitch, if we are going to make progress.
