  1. From the club's point of view, this is just bad luck. I can easily imagine that last summer there was enough reason to believe he would get back to fitness to justify signing him, especially given the reports from his spell at Stranraer were so glowing. It's not ICT's fault, it's not the medical team's fault and it's certainly not the player's fault. Just one of those things. Whilst the club got a lot of criticism on this board for the lack of communication regarding the player, I'd say they were right all along to be discreet about the player's fitness issues - better to let Angus deal with such a dreadful prospect in his own time and with a bit of space. I feel so dreadfully sorry for Angus himself. It's awful for anyone so young to have to give up their career, and also awful to be left struggling with chronic pain at that age. It's great that ICT and Hearts are going to play a benefit match for him and I do hope he goes onto great things either in coaching or outwith football.
  2. He may not want this at all, but if he did it would be good if both clubs could do something for him at the semi. Some sort of "guest of honour", VIP package for him and close family/friends - that sort of thing. Maybe shake hands with both teams, and toss the coin. Just to give him some special memories.

Still the second best player ever to come through our development system. Glad to see and hear that the appalling and unwarranted abuse he was subject to earlier in the season from some quarters has lessened. We are fortunate to have him.

Strikers need providers and yet again it is Liam Polworth who heads the list by some margin with 11 in the league so far. Probably in the top 2 or 3 in the division I would guess.
  5. I think we're at the stage of the season where, barring injuries, the team really picks itself. Definitely a big game tomorrow but then every game from now until we have a play-off place confirmed is a big game, we've been turning in good performances with the odd blip and I see no reason why we can't take the game to Ayr. Is it wrong ti wish for another 0v7 result like back in 2010 - probably one of the best ICT games I've attended, certainly up in my top two favourite games I've been to.

Really bad news on Club website that this young man has had to retire from football due to his ongoing hip problems. So sad - but a benefit game to be arranged in Edinburgh for him. I do hope his future is brighter, out of football. All the best Angus.
  7. Cannot believe Draper is getting any plaudits on here. His tackling was reckless, over the top and dangerous. Jamie McCart was lucky he escaped a serious injury on Tuesday.

He's put the ball in the net....
  9. Just received this club press release : The club is sad to report that 23 year old midfield player Angus Beith who joined us from Heart of Midlothian in the summer is having to retire from the game to due a hip injury. The club and Angus had great hopes for the future when he arrived in Inverness in April but with an injury very similar to the one suffered by Scots tennis star Andy Murray. Angus has sadly not been able to overcome the pain that still persists despite surgery to help the hip. He has had to make a big decision on his footballing future to manage his long term well being later in life. Heart of Midlothian and Inverness Caledonian Thistle have agreed to play a benefit match against each other on a date to be confirmed in Edinburgh and everyone is desperately sad for Angus as he has battled extremely hard to overcome this injury. We wish him every success in the future and we are sure that given his positive attitude that he will prove to be successful in whatever career path he chooses moving forward. Inverness manager John Robertson said “Everyone is gutted for Angus as he has worked very hard to get back from his surgery and was close to playing on a couple of occasions but unfortunately just could not overcome the pain in his hip that would allow him to compete then recover from playing games." "Angus was a complete midfield player with passing ability and box to box energy that we all hoped would be a real asset to the club and its tragic that he has to step away from the game he loves at such a young age, it has been an emotional time for him and this decision will have been tough to make and not done lightly” Angus Beith said “ I would like to thank John Robertson and Inverness Caledonian Thistle for the opportunity they gave me when I signed last year. "I have done everything possible to recover from injury and to get back playing but, reluctantly I have had to accept that it is just not possible for me to play football any longer I wish the club every success this season and in the future”
  10. "Caley Thistle’s Aaron Doran and John Robertson have scooped the Championship player and manager of the month awards for March." A big well done to both of them. Surprised no one has mentioned this yet

Because it's an opportunity to offer sympathy and good wishes for the future.
  12. It's not about the quantity. More about the enthusiasm and dedication of those who will be there. ICT have never been let down by our away support whatever the numbers from 130 to 13000.

Very much agreed Possibly also a few apologies from people on here are needed, regards some previous comments, in light of the news.
  14. Caleyjag just sent me this statement. As someone who's suffered all his life with hip problems and Perthys Disease from childhood, I have the deepest sympathy for Angus and what he's going through. I'm 38, had my right hip replaced at 22 and left hip replaced at 30 (same procedures way before Andy Murray made it famous) and would not wish it on anyone especially so young. The likelihood is had he continued on playing or trying to play, he'd have done even more damage and been faced with similar options. Good luck with whatever you do going forward young man, never good to see a promising player have to retire so early.
  15. Sad news indeed for such a young lad. Wishing you all the best for the future Angus, whatever your future brings.
  16. He is! I hope we can afford to keep him.

In 2017/18 Liam Polworth scored 3 goals and had 18 assists. In 2018/19 Liam Polworth has scored 2 goals and had 11 assists. Last season and this we scored a total of 95 goals, meaning Liam Polworth has either scored or assisted roughly every third goal we've scored in that time.

He's tied for second in the division with Joshua Mullin. Fraser Aird has 13 assists. Tom Walsh has seven assists.
  19. Draper was a nobody when he came to us. Didn’t shine in his first game at Elgin so many years ago. He forgets that and thumbs his nose to ICT now. I sponsored him for a few years and didn’t appreciate his gestures to ICT fans at last game at Dingwall. Some players show their class when they go to pastures new - Draper is not one of these and will never be a legend in the history books of ICT players - shame but class shows and he never has and never will.

Because he's a competent and capable forward who has improved as the season has progressed.
  22. The club would still have lost revenue on hospitality as the numbers dropped from sold out to 135 when it was switched for tv. And I'm sure attendance would have dropped also being on a Friday night for the original match rather than the Saturday. So tv interference has cost the club money whatever way you look at it.
  23. If you get chance take a wee peek at the highlights from the U18's v Ayr. Our final goal from our Brazillian is an absolute cheeky peach! Do we reckon he isready for a first team debut? Do we reckon it might be time we saw a bit more of some the youngsters who are coming along leaps and bounds?!
  24. TV has a lot to answer for but not for this matter. The match would not have gone ahead on the Saturday anyway as the pitch was still sodden. It would have been moved to a midweek date in any event. A solution might have been to discount the hospitality packages and advertise that fact widely including on this site but that would have involved communicating with fans which, as we know, this board seems to find bothersome and inconvenient.
  25. Wanderer, Naelifts and Mantis at the ticket office today, asking for freebies.
  26. The chair, secretary and myself as vice-chair of the Supporters Trust had a meeting on Friday with the Graham Rae and Gordon Fyfe. It was the first time that representatives of the new Supporters Trust Board had formally met with the Chairman and we had a very useful meeting. There was no specific agenda but we spent the time chatting around a variety of issues and developing an understanding of how the Trust and supporters generally can link in and help with the work of the club. They certainly seem keen to have our active input. The Chairman felt that meetings every 4 to 6 weeks seemed appropriate and for these to have specific outcomes identified so that it becomes a channel for getting things done and not just a talking shop. That is a very welcome response from our perspective. On a wider supporter basis, Gordon Fyfe will be trying to arrange a second "SLO" meeting with fans to which anybody would be welcome to come along and discuss any issues of concern. Hopefully that will happen before the end of the season. The Trust has a been doing a bit of work behind the scenes on a few issues. This includes working on providing better match day facilities for our disabled supporters, developing a survey for fans to feedback about the matchday experience and organising an end of season party at the ground as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations. More detail on these will follow soon.
  27. https://www.facebook.com/events/159196654986337/ Don't forget to buy your tickets for the SemiFinal against Hearts at Hampden. This may appear to be an alien concept for some, but always remember this, in space, no one can hear you scream. If you are sitting in your living room passing round the werther's originals and watching on TV, the lads won't be able to hear you. They have been brilliant to get this far in the cup and it's a great day out at the National Stadium. Be there or be square!
