  1. For me the best moment has to be Graeme Shinnie lifting the Scottish Cup. It is one of the big 2 competitions in Scottish football and to win that and have our name in the list of champions is a wonderful achievement and something that can never be taken away. Lift the cup might have been my most memorable moment, but the final certainly wasn't the most enjoyable game! For a club the size of ours it seemed almost surreal to be going into a Scottish cup final as the clear favourites. Having done the business against Celtic in that wonderful semi-final, it was a nervy day. I remember just imagining how gutted I would feel if we lost the final to a team in the league below. I remember that as the game wore on, Falkirk looked increasingly the more likely team to win the cup, but then up popped James Vincent with that lung busting run to score the most important goal in the Club's history! Any lingering nerves were banished with the final whistle and then we could celebrate the victory as champions. An absolutely magic moment. Looking back though, it is truly remarkable that there actually are so many very special moments to look back on. We can be very proud of what this Club has achieved.
  2. I mind after that game you wanted him banned from ever playing for ICT again.
  3. Garry Warren would be my choice. He was with us for 6 seasons during this last decade with over 200 appearances. He led our team by example through our most successful period and was a great ambassador both on and off the field. It is so disappointing that his time at the club ended end in the way it did. A shout also for Ross Draper. He had just under 200 appearances for us this decade. He played in that role in front of the back four where good work so often goes unnoticed. He and Garry Warren were the 2 rocks our most successful period was built around. And, yes, I know he went OTB, but we did get £100,000 for him by which time his best days were some way behind him!
  4. This is a tough one as we have been blessed with some quality players this decade. I don’t disagree with any of the above being shortlisted, particularly Warren, whilst Raven will always have a place in our hearts. How cruel their departures were. Two I think are also worthy of mention are Graeme Shinnie and Greg Tansey. Both had great games for us, and played a part in our successful years. In terms of who the best player in the decade who played for us for part of it, a slightly different question, surely Ryan Christie would take some beating.
  5. I'm dreaming of a White Xmas Arbroath will be the visitors this weekend as they head North for this Championship encounter with Inverness at the Caledonian Stadium, 3:00pm will be the kick off time. It's the last game of 2019, so come along and see if we can keep our form going and maybe get some revenge for our last encounter with Arbroath. The Smokies certainly smoked the Caley Jags in the last encounter when they ran away with the game in a deserved 3-0 win at Gayfield. Scott Stewart opened the scoring in the first half and a Bobby Linn penalty was added to by Omar Kader late in the second half to hand Inverness their second 3-0 reverse in a week. In truth, the scoreline that day flattered Inverness although we can point a finger at a virus that was working it's way through the Caledonian Stadium around that time. Since that defeat at the beginning of November we have put together a decent run apart from a setback at Firhill a fortnight ago when we lost 3-1 again to Partick Thistle. It started with another virus induced laboured performance over Clyde (0-0) in the Chocolate Biscuit Cup. It went to penalties where Mark Ridgers made two saves to see us through. Partick apart, we have played four Championship games without conceding a goal whilst scoring seven with wins over rivals Dundee, Ayr United, Alloa and Dunfermline. In that same period, Arbroath have had five Championship games without a win, managing only two points from draws with Dundee and Ayr United. They also needed a replay in the Scottish Cup to see off Auchinleck Talbot after a 1-1 draw at Beechwood Park, Ayrshire. After the 3-0 result at Gayfield, Arbroath found themselves level on 20 points with Inverness, but these results now show a 10 point gap has opened up as we move to second while Arbroath sit in seventh. Last time out we overcame Dunfermline in the Highlands with a hard fought but deserved 2-0 win although we had to thank Mark Ridgers for making two or three crucial blocks to keep the Pars out, or to be more precise Kevin Nisbet from scoring. Otherwise, it was a competent performance with a goal in each half from Shaun Rooney and Jamie McCart. Whilst we were beating the Pars, Arbroath were going down at Palmerston to Queen of the South. A Dan Pybus strike and an own goal from Ricky Little secured the points for the Dumfries side and continued Arbroaths poor run. Championship games this weekend starting with the Dundee derby on Friday night. Yes it's derby weekend all round and Arbroath are our nearest........ Dundee United v Dundee (Friday) Ayr United v Queen of the South Dunfermline Athletic v Alloa Athletic Inverness CT v Arbroath Morton v Partick Thistle Here's our goals from the win over Dunfermline last week. Team News John Robertson has been without Sean Welsh for nearly three months now and Tom Walsh is catching him up as he sits out for another week with his hamstring. Brad Mckay was not in the squad last week either but James Vincent returned to the bench before coming on as a sub. Kevin McHattie deputised for Carl Tremarco last week who had taken a knock the previous week, however, Tremarco, Vincent and Mckay should all be in the squad tomorrow. I'm sure Robbo will be looking for more return from his strikers who had the day off last week with defenders Rooney and McCart doing the business. So, like Gregor, we can all dream of a White Xmas, just like the ones we used to know and hope the big man starts scoring again. Arbroath went with this line-up against Queen of the South at Palmerston and Dick Campbell is happy enough with his sides contribution to the Championship so far. And so he should be, especially the likes of Bobby Linn who likes a goal against the Caley Jags. Arbroath manager Dick Campbell has taken heart from recent performances in some tough games even though he thought they deserved more points. “I will happily admit that we are ahead of where I thought we would be at this stage and if we finish with a couple of teams below us by the end of the season then I will be a very happy man.” If you like a wee flutter, our partnership with FansBet can offer you something. 6. The 3-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox was sweet. Terry Butcher coming over to the fans at full time was a brilliant moment.
  7. Watching that photo of Scotty Junior walking out onto the pitch hand in hand with D Raven struck a chord with me. I am sure his little heart was beating fast. And...he will probably never forget it.
  8. Pretty hard to see past the 7-0 day out at Somerset Park. The whole day was fantastic, pre-match, match, sermon on the mount, Butcher controlling the fans with his arms like a puppeteer, the puppets waiting on his every command, like a sketch from Monty Python, post match, just everything about it.....apart from leaving my jacket in the away end. If Carlesberg did away days with added panache; that's how they would do it!
  9. David Raven - if only for that goal against Celtic in the Scottish Cup Semi Final. Never forgotten and it’s a disgrace that he didn’t get a medal after the Final when subs who didn’t even play received a gong. They should have handed one over to him, if they had any decency or conscience.
  10. Valid point but the fact remains we are in the championshiph with a different budget White has been our top scorer in 2 seasons since he was here. He was Livingstons top scorer in his 2 seasons there. He was Stirling Albions top scorer in the 2 seasons he was there. Bit of a pattern there dont you think, I certainly do. Not too bad for a donkey as some posters on here like to call him. Think it would be good if the lad and all the players got some more support vocally at the games and on social media. He is our striker atm and with encouragement he could play a big part in us getting back to the top flight. Social media plays a major part in the lives of many people currently. Our players are all young men who can be encouraged or discouraged by comments from fans on social media platforms. Wouldn't it be great if our fans were the most positive in 2020. Imagine if that positivity played a part in promotion. Worth a try ?
  11. Was it true he drove home in his kit?
  12. And brown leather jackets!
