  1. Your right on that last point, we're not a bad team.... And given the right coaching and tactics I think we could be putting 3 or 4 past most opponents week in week out. The problem I feel lies in the style of play especially in attack around the box, where we simply have no idea how to penetrate the opposition defence. I appreciate Alloa sat in a fair bit on Saturday but we never attack ANY team with the same level of pace that any other team seem to inflict on us, that was most evident a few times when the ball was knocked into Vincent in the middle of the box just outside the 25 yard area and rather than play it in or run towards goal or even take a shot he played it back towards Trafford who then passed it sideways and this went on for a good few minutes before it fizzled out due to Alloa having all 10 men in the box. The lack of urgency that we counter attack at is alarming, and a big factor as to why we simply cannot score from a attack through the centre of the park, any goals we do score are either a set piece or crossed in from the flanks and a touch of luck
  2. A worthless gimmick. There may be a couple of dozen or so Gaelic speakers in our home crowd, two or three might even have it as a first language but each and every one of them is also fluent in English. If we are really wanting to encourage a portion of the population of the Highlands who might not be regular attendees then announcements in Polish would be more effective and demonstrate an outward looking, embracing and welcoming attitude notwithstanding the xenophobic and insular madness of exiting the European Union.
  3. There has literally been about 4 chants of support this campaign for the team. It's been dreadful from the first game of the season. Despite their previous transgressions we need the YT back and fans of similar age to get behind the side. All well and good trying to attract families but those fans typically don't get behind the team. Maybe a word could be had with Motherwell and see how they work with their YT with its own dedicated section of the stand?
  4. Didn't think the Alloa penalty was as soft as some made out. My initial reaction was penalty at the game. And it was probably no more than Alloa deserved. They created the better chances and again played some really good football. Our defence continues to look creaky in the absence of McCart and Donaldson. White had one of his classic games where he scored but also passed up easy chances to secure what would have been a big win for us. How he missed the header from about 4 cm out at the end I'll never know but he should great strength to hold off his marker before turning in the equaliser. Walsh sent in some decent crosses during the game and having him back is a boost and Welsh was typically composed in the middle when he came on. I'd like to see him team with Carson in the coming weeks. Vincent and Trafford weren't great. Ridgers made some good saves especially at the end as Alloa threatened to nick a win. They probably had the better chances in the second half in fairness.
  5. So that's what stops him jumping. I never noticed he had a shell on his back.
  6. It's obviously disappointing not to win but I'm not as negative as some. Alloa may be part time but they are certainly no mugs and have now taken 11 points from their last 5 games which is better than any team in the division. It was a game we certainly should have won given the chances we created but as is so often the case we failed to win both because we don't capitalise on the chances we make and we self destruct at the back. The penalty was soft. It looked like a perfectly fair shoulder to shoulder from Rooney but it was also totally unnecessary. He was in position to get to the ball first and shepherd it out of play without using the shoulder. He asked the referee a question and the referee got the answer wrong. From then on, we were chasing the game and for the most part did that reasonably well. Tremarco and Doran were getting balls across from the left and Storey and Rooney were doing the same from the right. What is encouraging is that according to to the BBC we had 23 attempts on goal which was 5 more than any other team in Scotland. Surely that's a positive! It isn't that we aren't creating, it is that we need to be more clinical in front of goal. Despite all our attempts at goal the Alloa keeper was never seriously tested apart from the one goal. Any saves he made were routine. White again had chances where he should have done better, but the worst misses today were probably by Storey who demonstrated why playing him as the main striker would be unlikely to solve our problems. According to BBC stats he has scored just twice from no less than 29 attempts at goal this season. It was good to see Sean Welsh come on in the 2nd half and it was a cute ball from him which played White in for the goal. There were other opportunities for more dinked balls to be played in behind the defence, and whilst White seemed to be alive to the opportunity, some of our midfielders just don't seem to see that kind of ball. It'll be interesting to see what we can create against Livi next week. Motherwell only had one attempt at goal against them today so we are going to need to create a lot more than that if we are going to progress to the next round.
  7. Yes we really needed this badly. What a difference this will make to our season.
  8. That wouldnt be unusual
  9. Hope he doesn’t ruin the green, green grass....
  10. Watch out that’s far too positive for the doom and gloom merchants on here mate. I like your style though and agree with you , Alloa are the form team in the division and I thought we were by far the better team on the day. It was a far more even contest at their ground a few weeks back imo. Big Jordan should have scored the header in the dying minute of the game but he also scored a very good goal too. I thought at times we played some good football and the effort of the players was never in any doubt even Rooney who has signed a PCA can’t be faulted in that dept. Pity the same can’t be said about the fans effort , certainly we don’t believe in the 12th man theory up in Inverness.
