  1. Yes, you've certainly convinced me! Have a dot. I'll let you guess which colour it is
  2. Are they really willing to do this at a local level? I had some dealings with Tesco many moons ago. My experience was, they screw you down to the last penny (usually by a national agreement, i.e. Tesco's head office agreed the prices with our head office, so Tesco were getting the goods much cheaper than anybody else) so as somebody above mentioned, you make next to no profit on the goods, you just get volume. This is OK normally, but we would hardly want to get into their branches nationwide. How many more tops would we sell in the Inverness branches of Tesco?
  3. Yes, copies of 'Caley all the Way' turn up in second hand shops. There was one on eBay the other week. I got mine in Edinburgh but they're not daft- it was still ?15 for a hardback.
  4. OK I'll start. Mr B's book is actually excellent and you could ask the mearlach in Church St (aka Leakey's Bookshop) to look for a copy second hand. Sure he's an odd fellow but he's not trying to get rich, he's actually trying to educate you. That's what he does. Ian Broadfoot wrote 'Going Ballistic' to celebrate our first 10 years and promotion to the SPL in 2004. Probably sold out but maybe somebody at the club could help you out. Recent DVD called "A night to remember' shouldn't be too hard to find. Think there were 500 made (CaleyD will tell you). Caledonian FC fanzine as mentioned on these boards a couple of weeks ago. See my homepage. Thistle fanzine, probably quite hard to find and only ran to about 4 issues IIRC. Excellent though.
  5. Delighted at the progress made by players such as Ross and Shinnie who have been chucked in at the deep end. Nervous about what will happen to our small squad during the winter when injuries and suspensions kick in. ICT traditionally have a poor start and get better. This time we've started like other promoted teams. Once every manager has played us once they'll be working out how to stop us next time. Great team spirit though, carried on from last year.
  6. Bayview Park isn't there any longer Scarlet. We played once at New Bayview the year we got promoted from div 2 and threw it away, gifting them a couple of goals and losing 3-2 after leading 2-1. Does anybody else remember the night we won on pens at Bayview in the Scottish? We were in div 3 and they were in 2. They dominated us for most of the game and a certain cocky player manager took himself off with 15 mins remaining, thinking the game was won. Cue Alan Hercher with a last minute equaliser.
  7. Sounds like he's after the Celtic job.
  8. Well done Mary. Made me feel as if I was there instead of on the Minch..... no, I said MINCH. Come to think of it, it WAS just like being there so you saved me 20 quid. On the other hand it sounds like I missed a rare opportunity to be bought a pie by Mr Ex-Aberdonian.
  9. The Mantis replied to DJS's topic in Caley Thistle
Bit of a shock. Was he ill? Nice guy was Gordy.
  10. ***off-topic*** I had hoped to make it up the road today but the plans fell through. Instead I went to see Whitehill Welfare play Tynecastle FC. The visiting coach was this chap, who was sent to the stand after disputing a Whitehill penalty:
  11. Scotty will still be in his bed on the other side of the pond, but
  12. He certainly played against us for County in the Inverness Cup Final which we won 1-0 at the stadium, with Ross Tokely scoring. According to my Broadfoot that was 26/3/99.
  13. Many 4-goal thrashings of St Midden at their place. One time they got the panda to dance around in front of us while they played 'Combine Harvester'. At half time we were 3 up and we were chanting 'bring on the panda'
  14. Daisy was probably up to about div 2 standard, but what a great lad, no ego at all. Edit- let himself down a bit in his twilight years - never realised it was all downhill after ICT and signed for some pub team.
  15. Green dot Mr Sorted.
  16. Are you sure that was this season??? He was good against the tic on the opening day, and he made the goal for Rooney at Fleetwood, the only pre season game I saw. A lot of us felt last season he was too lightweight to make an impact but they must have done a lot of hard work on him since.
  17. Scorers, Johnboy. Plural.
  18. Are we allowed to pick players like Dalglish, Law, Bremner, Jordan, McQueen, McGrain, Hartford, Gemmill?
  19. I've just watched that crap in the pub and I feel sorry for all the young lads watching it. For them Scotland have always been shyte. At least I had the privilege of seeing some decent players even 20 years ago. Mind you we had enough talent to give the Czechs a game but Levein decided to give them too much respect. How about you have some faith in your players Craig? Plan A lasted about 70 mins, but there was no plan B. Shocking.
  20. Up till now I would have said Russeldinho, he's been with us for 8 years and we are worse off when he's injured or more likely suspended I'm leaning towards Richie Foran nowadays, you always get 100% from him.
  21. Who did Grimsby play, the Blind Asylum
  22. You've got the wrong season. Livi won the title at Forfar, we had a 1-1 draw at home to Alloa. But you're right, we wouldn't have won it anyway, although we probably would have if we had something to play for  A couple of things I remember. Against Alloa Spider Stewart scored a second half equaliser for us which meant we scored in all 36 league matches. Also we passed the Livi team bus on the M90 and my mate Dougie, in the passenger seat, lazily flicked them a v-sign, which was returned by Ray Stewart sitting in the front of the coach. The Forfar game was 2 years before when we walked away with div 3, but lost 0-4 at home on the final day which meant our wee neighbours didn't go up. My favourite ever game? Hundreds of them but I'd maybe go for winning at Tynecastle in 2002 in the Cup. What a great Pele team that was.
  23. Especially since he wasn't on the pitch
  24. Sir Alex has spoiled the Dons fans for evermore
  25. Chris is right. An even worse move than Pele, who was vastly more experienced, going to the Dons, where most of us knew he was making a big mistake. Adams is a good prospect, bags of self belief, and a bottom six club or an English lower league club could do worse than take him on. But as Chris says, two wins over Hibs and Celtic are about all he's got on his cv, unless you count two wins over the mighty ICT. I think we should go on the Hibs message boards and start a Brewster campaign. Ex player after all
