Roscoe, when you find these threads so depressing and boring when they highlight the most ridiculous financial idiosyncrasies, boondoggles and extravaganzas the bankrupt U.K. has ever seen, why on earth do you even bother to come on here? You contribute nothing but negativity don't you know? If you spent half as much time, as Canada Bob does on thoroughly researching the information he provides here , on trying to provide us punters with your interesting views on world events of ANY description your fine mind would be more usefully employed and we would no doubt be agog with interest and better informed about the exciting events that titillate our drab, boring, negative and unproductive lives which we just know you can greatly improve..........possibly?

Roscoe--Canada Bob is not only a very smart guy but he has paid his dues in and to society over his ninety five years on this planet whereas you have not yet even paid property taxes? Compared to you he has been around the world ten times whereas you are barely out of nappies. He has taken on high-head-yins and won, a brilliant inventor who has been on the TV Dragon show, his views on the deterioration in the UK on all levels and around the world are acute, visceral and apposite, and he makes an art of backing winners. In addition he is one of the funniest people I have ever met (ask him to relate the story about how he was at the top of the church bell tower when the bell fell down with all it's supports leaving him stranded and he had to climb down the 60 foot rope to escape a death from starvation and loneliness which nearly resulted from me dying from asphyxiation with laughter after he revealed that the bell hit the ground and bounced up ten feet without breaking etc ) and you have the assurance of the Pimpernel family that he is undoubtedly the least boring person I have never met!. In Canada we also have our problems with police going nuts and there are plenty of negative comments from the public when things go wrong which is sometimess so strong that the sight of the local police chief eating humble pie on the T>V> has become commonplace. Just calm down a wee bit Roscoe and try to be more like a Pimple sponge -see all, hear all and say nowt---isn't that right Bob?

Steven webster--you are welcome. Always willing to be politically correct and correct your spellning errors.

Ha! Ha! Ha! --I sure cannot top that--no pun intended. LOL Yes poor old Bayview. Wouldn't it be nice if the old East Fife made it back to the SPL> I have my doubts hoe\wever if they would : a. Meet the SPL requirements b. Have the money to enter the SPL and at least get through one season. What the folks do there for jobs now is a mystery I am sure. Forecast--No chance of them ever getting to the starting post in the short to medium term. Sigh!

What's the down on Methil, pray/ Home of the former illustrious East Fife, once THE premier team in Scotland, so good that the demand for exhibition matches in England exhausted their players and in some measure led to their gradual demise from the top flight. But Bowling Green Street, Methil, has some fond memories for me as a very young man just back from National Service and back into the work again. I stayed there for a couple of years and met the Manager of the huge Wellesly pit who stayed across the road from me. A very nice and smart man who was also a good friend of my family. The pit has NO DOUBT been defunct now for many years . A coal town for sure but I have seen quite a few fantastic end-to-end games there.

The opening post says it all. I was in communication with you Alex about the Canadian crash recently off Nova Scotia . My first thought when I saw this tragedy on TV here in Vancouver was ..."oh my goodness I hope Alex is O.K." . The Canadian helicopter apparently had a pin break loose from the gearbox and that did it in. The plane dropped like a stone and they have now recoved the wreckage and 17 of the 18 persons on board. This also was a very sad accident affecting the lives of many folks in and around the district from whence the victims came. My condolences to all affected.

Bob Blantyre--geez, that's in Lanarkshire and is the little one street town from whence Jock Stein came. I lived there prior to emigrating to Canada in a nwly built Wimpey House and worked in Cambuslang , then Rutherglen. I was involved with a couple of other guys in running a small football team for boys and we decided to earn some money to help out the team. So I roped in an Impresario named Andy Daisley from Glasgow ,a pal whom I fondly remember, and he arranged to get a projector and a black and white film of a match between Real Madrid and some other great team in a cup final to run in the local church hall on the main street. We delivered leaflets about and expected maybe 20 or 30 lads to show up. Holy Moly, over 100 lads showed up and we not only had them stuffed in the aisles, but in the rafters as well and had a rollicking time . Now that's a memory. Andy was a character and got me involved in his profession. He asked me to run some of his "acts" to their gigs and since I had a Van den Plas Princess at that time I obliged. So I met Stephan Grapelli and had a very embarrassing moment when the car just had to break down a mile from the country gig into which he was booked. Then one evening in the heart of Glasgow Andy took me down to a pub to see Billy Connolly and I really enjoyed thatdespite the fact that I could hardly see him through the smokey haze. This was before he had made a name for himself and he had some choice language I can tell you but I was very amused by his humour. Dusseldorf I do remember since I took a plane from Jever Air Force base in the North to there to catch a plane to Britain ghoing on leave once. Arriving at London the customs thought it very strange that this Air Force lad dressed in civvies was not travelling by the (free) usual cattle boat , took me into a room and strip searched me which I found to be a rather humiliating experience. Noting the pained expression on my face along with the tigtly-drawn pursed lips they decided to let me off--pity that they did not think to look in the heel of my shoe where I had hidden a watch that I had bought in Jever for my mother and did not have the money to pay tax or dues on it had I declared it. I was more concerned about damaging the watch than dealing with the Customs lads so I walked very gingerly everywhere trying not to walk with an obvious limp. That's youth for you..sigh..wish it was back smile.

Well. maybe the answer is actually to bring some youthful flair into a somewaht jaded team then?
-
Then if Lionel is being singled out folks what is the solution to evening out the criticism score---change the whole team?

Well at least IHE puts his stall out front and does make the effort to comment on the team's performance both individually and collectively whereas some of his detractors never pass an opinion on the team at all so let's hear from them with their opinions........ hat would be fairer and more constructive than running down IHE in a fit of pique. My opinion ? ....well , I always start off an opinionated opinion with "well". Secondly, Butcher does have to work with what he has but increasingly it seems that Brew may not have solely been the fault in the deterioration of the first half of the season.I have consistently said that the players job is to keep their quite highly paid mouths closed and to follow the boss's instructions plus trying to be as constructive and co-operative as possible which , from all reports, was not always the case in the past under Brew. I think Terry is more outspoken and voluble than Brew who admittedly was not the most communicative and personable of people. But, without the co-operation and the other assists needed from the players as described above even he will need all his experience and skills to keep this team in a cohesive unit formation and avoid the drop. The defeat (5-0) by Rangers may be written off as definitely a bad headache day but the Falkirk result cannot be viewed as anything but a very serious and awful defeat. Another downer like that and ICT will be facing relegation for sure. Frankly speaking Tery Butcher and Maurice Malpas have their work cut out now to get this team to be winneres aand the next few weeks will be very interesting indeed. Hope I don't upset Charles with these few obtuse comments.....?

The leader of our opposition Liberals in the House of Commons today stated that if Stephen Harper (Prime Minister, Conservative) was bowing to pressure and did not want to allow Galloway in to speak freely then that is an "outrage". However, he also said that if Galloway genuinely was viewed as a security threat then that is an entirely different matter. What the truth is here we probably will never know , but he could, not have wished for better publicity. And Step-hen Harperion is hardly the most decisive of leaders, I kid you not. Streuth!!!!!!!

Miss ICT-- I also have just watched thehighlights. Did you find that the video kept stopping and restarting continually? Or was it that the effort of getting to Canada just exhausted it's energy?

Every dog has it's day--let them enjoy their's the noo. But that statement is a very far -reaching one and there is another statement that mer its consideration : " there's many a slip 'twixt cup and lip". It's a funny old game when one season it's a world -beating team and the next it has turned into little more than a reasonably-functional one. So beware, Mr McGhee--time will telleth all.

You really mean..."let's hope he continues to be successful and productive" don't you?

There is no such thing as a "man's job" or a "woman's job". When I was dragged up I was taught to knit scarves, darn socks, do the dishes, polish my shoes, iron my pants etc, and always was ready to help my dad cut the grass.Anything to keep busy. And not much changed after HM GOV. called me up to the RAF --I found I was one of the few who knew how to darn a sock and I got my share of dishwashing in a foul-smelling huge greasy dish washing tank (this was known as fatigues or jankers) to which one was sentenced for a minor infraction like looking sideways at the Drill sergeant. Anyway, boys and girls, here is my philosophy for a more equal and productive marriage...if it needs doing then get on with it before someone needs to ask you for help--then you can lord it over the lazy ones in the household....and set an example to the children you produce-..viz: nothing is for nothing in this world unless you are misfortunate enough to be born Lord Laddie-Da with a golden spoon in your mouth.Isn't that right MrsJnr

I would be surprised if many Dinwall fans came through to Inverness if ICT and County merged in any way. Mind you, the wives might be very persuasive in getting the hubbies out of their armchairs if they really wanted to shop in the bigger toon.
