Yes, a win today against 'Well would certainly take a bit of pressure off the final 2 games. I, for one, would not like to go to Dingwall having to win to have any chance of Europe, and maybe also relying on others losing. So good luck to the lads today. I'm going to be stuck in the car most of the afternoon trudging over to Essex, round the M25, for a family do. Probably won't get MFR in the car either.

Gary Warren Out for the rest of Season
Caley Mad In Berks replied to WYNESS101's topic in Caley Thistle
That's a real blow. He has been great all season. Easy to say that he was rushed back from injury too early, but I'm sure he, himself, thought he was ready to play at Parkhead. At least we have an able defender in Devine to replace him for the last 4 games. -
Yes, great result for us in Perth. It is in our own hands now. Get your passports ready.

Outplayed in second half I'm afraid. Not good for the goal difference, although Doran's late consolation (a well worked goal btw) helps a tad. Could so with a draw at Perth today!

Loads of Tic possession, but apart from a couple of loose pass backs, we haven't looked in great trouble. Brilliant saving tackle from Meekings on the stroke of half time. Keep it up lads, we can nick this.

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking Ryan Esson should still be ICT's no 1 keeper -
Great result. I look forward to seeing the details in due course.

Thought I'd add my tuppence worth, in support of Rasczak who'd got it largely correct in post 16, despite PMF's subsequent protestations. There are a number of situations whereby County could still lose out on 6th spot at the split :- 1)County lose to Hearts leaving them on 45. Then Killie win their two outstanding games to get to 47, and Dundee Utd win their two outanding games getting them to 46, then St. J beat us getting them to 47. 2)Same as no 1) except we draw with St J leaving St J with 45, the same as County. Then it would be down to GD between St J and County, which could go either way. 3) County lose to Hearts leaving them on 45. Dundee Utd win their next two games getting them to 46. St J beat ICT getting them to 47. Killie take 4 points from their two games getting them to 45. Then Killie would get 6th on GD. 4) County draw with Hearts getting them to 46. Killie win their two games getting them to 47. St J beat ICT getting them to 47. Dundee Utd win their two games getting them to 46. Then 6th would be on GD between County and Dundee Utd. Admittedly County have a superior GD at the moment, but a bad loss for them and two good wins for Utd would make it very close. So, it is still very much up in the air as to whether 'the shadows' join us in top 6. Personally, I hope they do.

Enjoyed the game yesterday. Thought first half was pretty even but we shaded the second half. Hibs had plenty possession but apart from a flurry of corners in the last 5 minutes, never really looked threatening. Our defence was solid, even without Warren, and I thought G Shinnie had one of his best games for us and should have been MOM. McKay put his usual shift in of 100% effort, and all in all, I was delighted with the team's performance. Enjoyed Tel joining in with some of the players for his post match celebration.

Assuming the Soccerbase stats to be correct I've compiled a comparisson of both keepers. Last weeks County game is excluded because both keepers are credited with it. Tony, Played 20. Wins 11. Draws 6. Shutouts 6 Ryan, Played 17. Wins 1. Draws 10. Shutouts 3 Ryan has been very good for us but his injury this season is puting doubt in my mind that he can sustain No1 next season. I do, however, see him as a good standby and help to the No1 choice and I think Tony is just coming onto top form now and we should try and keep him as the No1 with Ryan there to keep him tip top. These stats are meaningless. They don't mean that Reguero was responsible for all the wins when he played, nor that Esson was responsible for all the defeats when he played. Esson has deservedly been number one for two or three seasons, and in my eyes should retain this position next season. I still hope we can retain Reguero though, but as a great back up for Esson. -

Just come back from a week end at relatives. I had to use all my powers of persuasion to get the man of the house to watch ICT on Alba instead of Wales/England rugby on the other channel. Come to think of it I did him a favour as he is English! One of these games where the result was the important thing and not the manner of the victory. A great 3 points and so close now to top six. Great start with the early goal. At first sight I thought Fraser had simply dropped the ball, but on second (and many subsequent) viewings he actually made a good stop from a great header by Foran before Shinnie's simple tap in. Couldn't argue with the equaliser - a great strike, which in fact, was their only shot on target in first half. I thought we just shaded the second half, although I thought we were lucky to get the penalty. No doubt it is debated ad infinitem earlier in this thread (I haven't read it yet!). It was one of those penalties I would have been agrieved about had it been given against us. But, we deserved the narrow victory. I thought the back four were great. Raven just gets better every game. What a fantastic tackle he made towards the end to prevent a clear goal scoring opporunity. Taylor also performed admirably as a stand in for Shinnie and had a direct hand in both goals. Being a bit pickey, I thought we gave away too many cheap and needless fouls. Do you realise there were 5 fouls for handling the ball given against us (Doran, 3, McKay and Shinnie, 1 each). Too many and could have been costly on another day. But nothing that spoiled a great result, made even better by their manager's show of petulance at the end. And, while I think of it, I'm so glad we got rid of Vigurs, who also showed himself up with an all round petulant and bordering on nasty, display.

I've been to numerous functions over the years and seen/heard all sorts of after dinner speakers. I tend to agree with Charles that in the main they are expensive and poor value for money, adding very little to the enjoyment of the evening. I can think of only 2 exceptions. We had Alex Hay (the old golf commentator) at our annual golf club do about 20 years ago. He was absolutely brilliant with all his anecdotes acquired in his long, and at that time, still flourishing career. Even before that we had Tom O Connor (the commedian) at a 'mens' dinner. He had us all in stitches for the best part of an hour without one blue joke or 'f' word. So all credit to these two who were certainly the exception to the rule in my experience.

It will be ironic if Tel lets Chris Hogg go after sticking with him for so long, especially if he is reaching full fitness again. I've a feeling Tel will stick with him and let King go. Isn't Devine on loan? Therefore he could well be offski at the end of the season anyway.
