Quite surprised at that. Was expecting a Friday night on BT sport.

I saw this thread assuming the game had been changed to the Friday night as per the last few games. Lunchtime on a Sunday though ?  This screws over any fans traveling up for it as there are no trains north on the 5th between Perth and Inverness.

Cracking choice by BT Sport !

Well this is a load of sh*te

It's SKY to be fair. I was hoping for Friday night myself as it would be the only way I could possibly make the game.

As Nod has pointed out, there's no trains south on the Sunday. Highly doubt I'll travel up for it now.

How to kill a crowd and atmosphere: move the game to a Sunday and have an early kick-off

Fully agree, Kind of Blue. The atmosphere will be awful. I'm gutted it's on the Sunday and the transport problems don't help either. I've just checked the scotrail website and there's planned engineering works: http://www.scotrail.co.uk/sites/default/files/11417PerthInvernessSept14.pdf

From twitter it appears there's a lot of fans who are based in the south who won't be able to make it up now.

and naelifts either. Night shift weekend so early kick off snookers me

total agree with Charles on this one we just have to take our turn and get on with it.

While I appreciate this impacts on supporters who travel from the central belt, surely there should be enough home supporters to not dent the crowd a huge deal or the atmosphere. When game was on a Friday night, it didn't impact on crowd or atmosphere and final Sunday game two years ago at Dingwall did not impact hugely on the crowd. The endless negative postings on this feed through to people who read this and have an impact on the crowd. Sure it would have been better to be on a Saturday but so say this will kill crown and atmosphere seems a bot OTT.

I'm not so sure tbh. Neither club gets great attendances when their games are on a Sunday. Friday nights seem easier for folk transport and lifestyle wise. I wonder if there are still a significant minority that don't attend on Sundays for religious reasons? I will be there as usual tho and as you say the atmosphere should still be fine.

Will be interesting to see if Roy MacGregor will attend as he in the past has expressed his displeasure re Sunday football which I believe was for religious reasons !

Still prefer all matches are 3pm Saturday and they can pick one match to show as I am convinced attendances would rise throughout the SPFL

Sunday 1245 k.o's spoil the whole match day experience for me. I don't get to many home games in a season but when I do its nice to meet up with friends for a beer prior to the game. The pre match build up and banter is lost on these occasions. No thought is ever given to supporters when match days and k.o times are changed and the SPFL or whatever they're called certainly don't give a stuff about how fans will get to games or, indeed, check for weekend rail engineering works as that's 'our' problem. Its annoying but something we have to put up with in these days of commercialised football. Money talks and TV rules I'm afraid.  I did have plans to attend this game but I'll probably give it a miss now.

Perhaps not the two best fixtures to focus on. The Friday match was the first SPL Highland Derby so had something of a stigma attached to it. The final Sunday game a couple of seasons ago could have seen us go itno Europe and County were in the top six at the first time of asking. You need only look at more recent Derby crowds to see that, whilst the game is still a big draw, it's not as attractive as it once was especially with about 10 games between the sides in the last two seasons.

While I agree with you on these two games, point I was trying to make, and TBH, not very well, was that there should still be enough "locals" to attend the game and keep crowd numbers up. Then again, who knows how many of apathetic Invernessians will turn out for this game to boost the attendance. If we cannot get the "loacls" to turn out for these games then we are in trouble.

Pay to get in, or watch it for nothing in a pub? TV coverage is ruining the game in Scotland. Do the revenues the clubs get from the TV companies make up for the revenue lost elsewhere?

*edit* Just noticed on P&B Motherwell have launched a flex-ticket deal. Would be really good if we could have something similar http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2014/09/08/new-fir-park-flexi-ticket/

And their share of all the TV deals for SPFL games. Without sounding like I am backing K.O changes, without a League sponsor the TV money is the highest income the league has. The clubs have gate money but this alone is not enough to keep clubs afloat.

The club would get that share even if they had no TV games during the season but chances are you would get bigger home attendances . So if we are on Tv it would be best if we were playing away

So what you are saying is " Give us our share of the money but don't inconvenience us. Make all other teams change and not us."

With the job I do changing K.O times makes it really difficult to get to some games, but without the TV money we probably could not survive as a club in the way that we do.

Twenty years ago if you were asked if you would like to see a Highland Derby live on National TV, after you stopped laughing, you would have loved the idea. Instead of criticising TV companies for wanting to show us live, let's just think about what has been achieved in the last twenty years for this to happen.
