Who will be the 3 candidates?

Caley Thistle have not approached anyone regarding the position and will draw up a list of the three most favourable candidates after today's meeting (22-Jan-09) at Caledonian Stadium.

Inverness director of football Graeme Bennett claims the Highland club will consider all applicants regardless of nationality or experience.

He said: ?The process for the replacement of the manager has started and that will be ongoing.

?There has already been a fair bit of interest in the position and we are not ruling anybody in or out.

?We have an open book, there is no set criteria, we are just seeing who is available and we will take it from there.

?We are going to sit down and decide who we would like to speak to.

?We have not spoken to anyone about the job yet ? it is up to the board to do that.

?We have gathered some information over the last 24 hours on prospective candidates and the sooner we can arrange interviews the better.?

So if today's board meeting is going to result in three names being put forward then I think they may be:

1) J Robertson

2) A Knox

3) A N Other

I don't think we will see Terry Butcher or Ossie Ardiles on that short-list of candidates being invited for an interview at the club....

Interestingly these are the latest odds and the bookies don't often get it wrong (but where do they get some of these names):

John Robertson 2

Terry Butcher 10/3

Barry Wilson 5

Archie Knox 6

Ossie Ardilles 9

Gordon Chisholm 9

Willie Donnachie 10

Kevin MacDonald 11

Derek McInnes 12

Steven Pressley 14

Eric Black 14

Neale Cooper 16

Colin Calderwood 16

Bruce Rioch 16

Chris Sutton 16

Charlie Christie 16

Stevie Frail 18

Maurice Malpas 20

Colin Hendry 20

Alex Rae 20

Jim Duffy 22

Derek Adams 25

Duncan Shearer 33

Craig Brown 33

Steve Paterson 33

Bobby Williamson 33

malpas isn't a contender, give the board some credit. i think robbo is not going to get it, hallelujah, so that leads to Knox. It seems likely he'll get it, but i don't know how he'll do as a manager; although you can't get a better apprenticeship than under feguson.

Knox is almost 60 and doesn't have a decent track record in managing a team in his own right. Could he be seeing this as a paid holiday before he retires?

He is 61. IF it is between Malpas, Butcher Knox and Sutton, then I hope Butcher would get it.

I'm with you on that one!

Im not with either of you, if it is to be the people mentioned on here i reckon Knox is the lesser of the evils

Butcher is def not taking it. He is on treble what we would pay for 2 p/t jobs.

Malpas is not being considered.

I'd be all in favour of Knox. To have worked so consistently with the people he's been with has to be a good thing. In fact, I'd be surprised if he was interested in the job. I'd be pretty shocked if he couldn't get a bigger job if he made himself available.

Archie wants the job big style!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

So as it seems likely it is Knox - then it is just who is to be No.2 :rotflmao:

or vice versa maybe.... :thumb04:

I am sure all will be clear by Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning :018:

not quite so sure as everyone else about Knox, from what some people tell me he is quite a volatile person; but maybe that could work in our favour as some of the caley boys clearly needs kick up the proverbial a@se.

perhaps knox is the slightly less risky option to ossy, and both would have the same effect. bigger crowds, coverage and respect for the manager's playing career.

Yes I think the new manager will be in place early next week, apprently final interviews carried out tom

the seltic game can't come quick enough, i feel three points a coming.

Word is it's Knox and Sutton for def.

This is 100% correct, except it is Sutton and Knox. From a member of the Heathmount Mafia in exile.

Which is nice.

The appointment of manager is due to be made on Monday. Apparently Robbo is still in with a shout but Buthcher is out of the running. My money is on Knox.

Aye, I now think it'll be Knox but who will be his assistant ?

That will be interesting.

Robbo has been completely ruled out. See my comment earlier.

The budget does not allow knox and sutton

if knox is appointed he will appoint his own no2

So if Robbo is out who is being interviewed tomorrow :rotflmao:

Are you sure about that?

He did say on Radio Scotland he hadn't heard anything from the club after submitting an application..

Given the way the management of this club operate, I would be surprised if his application was even acknowledged.

No your right Johnboy he hasn't heard anything, but not been ruled out either, although as the club havent been in touch I get the feeling it may not be him

You're all falling into the trap of trying to apply logic to the way in which ICT operate.

Thought you would've learned by now!!!

Club statement

Interestingly it states "we need a guy to come up here to relocate so there a lot of things to be taken into consideration before appointing" - suggests all 4 candidates referred to are not or have not been recently located in Inverness....

The saga continues....

Maybe his geography is as good as his knowledge of timezones and he thinks that Robbo may have to relocate from Westhill

Perhaps they think Robbo lives too far away from the stadium to be considered....
