Hi,

My family and I are moving to Tomintoul at the end of October, and I am giving up my Manchester City season ticket, which I have had since I was 15 (I am now 32).

Obviously I now need a new team to watch, and to (eventually) subject my 20 month old boy to! I am adamant that he will not grow up supporting any of the Old Firm (as I hate it when non-Mancs support the Scum, sorry, Man Utd), and I can't let him support Aberdeen because of the Alex Ferguson connection.

So Caley Thistle it is then.

My question is - are there any supporters groups to get involved with, or is there a good starting point for getting to know the club?

As I said, we're moving up at the end of October, so any advice opr help would be greatly appreciated.

Our Chairman is from Manchester. By definition we do have a supporters group but this website is your starting point.

As mentioned already, this website is a great place to start. It's the only ICT fans website of any significance, and a significant proportion of our fanbase are registered.

After spending some time here you'll feel as if you know the club's players, directors, support staff, fans, tactics, history, legends, highs and lows. Hopefully it won't put you off!

I know what you mean about newcomers not getting involved with their new local team - but I think proper footy fans will always adopt the local team and make a bit more of an effort. Not like these 'plastics' who will toss a coin between Rangers and Celtic, buy the shirts for their kids etc, without ever intending to going to one game, ever.

At the end of the day, you should support your local team no matter what. My old man was born 4 miles from Maine Road, that's why our family are all City fans. I really bugs me when people support a team that they have no affiliation with whatsoever, other than that team being succesful. It is winding me up now just thinking about all the tossers in Man Utd shirts all over the UK, it must be the same for you guys up there when you see Old Firm shirts in Inverness.

My little lad Charlie will be dragged along too when he is a bit bigger. Very important to brainwash them young, I feel.

I'll get my head round the fixtures for November in a few weeks time and will post again once we have actually moved up North, to see if anyone can advise me re: pre-match pub / which part of the ground to sit in / supporters groups etc.

I hope MCFCexile, who is used to one of the finest stadia in the country, doesnt take one look at our dump and run off back the A9.

If you're moving to Tomintoul at the end of October my advice would be make sure and keep a shovel and blankets in the boot when heading down to a game :003: :cold02:

My adopted team in England is actually Newcastle, but I have always had a soft spot for Man City for some reason. I beleive they are A EPL team and belong there. It will probably be a culture shock for you going to our games. We dont have a big support either. But considering we are only 13 years old, got where we are with NO money, we are well worth a look. Also, probably best of all, we are generally laid back people as there is never any real expectation for sucsess. Being bottom of the league is a bit **** tho :016:

SMEE - thanks for that. When MCFC are away I also watch Altrincham FC in the Conference who get crowds of 900 and always get relegated (then get re-instated each year because someone else goes bust) so I am used to low expectations.

But I would rather go to 15 games a year watching my local team do the best they can with the resources available, rather than spend my cash on Sky to watch a team 200 miles away. Also in my experience, the actual 90 mins of footy is pretty much a sideshow to the buzz of the matchday banter, the feeling you get when you wake up and remember you're at home, all that stuff..... and then of course not speaking to the Mrs all Saturday night because you're still brooding over that georgian left back who scored an oggy with 6 minutes left.

I just can't wait, bring it on........
