Generally I don't think it bothers people much, but if someone feels they are being continually targetted then I could see why it would get to them, especially on a forum like this, which is supposed to serve as a place for people with a shared passion being able to discuss that passion. Judging by the number of red dots Mahonio has received on recent threads for completely uncontentious questions and opinions, it seems pretty clear to me that he's being targetted, presumably for one ill-considered thread a few weeks ago, for which he subsequently apologised. It's a bit out of order that he's still taking the flak for that, especially given the hammering he took at the time. *waits for cascade of red dots*3 points

IHE would say that it should be Caledonian FC and rename the North Stand to the Howden End and Johndo dreams about that as well. As many know I was an original "Animal" and probably classed as a "rebel" and I stayed away fer three seasons. But hey - the first time I came back it was just simply Inverness - and the Jeggies were always our mates with friendly banter and we all hated County and Hellgin. So maybe I am a rebel without a cause. And most of ma new mates are ex Jeggies and I would say that I was primarily responsible for chanting the O2B song and turning it away from being a Jail End taunt. INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE FC - It took a lot of feckin emotion, effort and struggle to create it and long may it remain - to me it is a constant reminder of the past and is part and parcel of our colourful history (as covered in literature by yon wee BBC **** ) I actually pride in saying that name now. As long as some dyslexic ******* doesnt rename it ITC - now that would be feckin sacriledge.3 points

I am going to use the post quoted below as the most recent example but it is clear that certain members are 'targetting' their reputation votes and voting down specific members regardless of what they say ...... Bottom line, its getting to the stage where we do one of three things ..... 1. We remove the feature entirely (which I feel is unfair on users who are not abusing it). 2. We remove the facility to add any negative votes at all but still allow positive rep. 3. We remove the voting privilege from those individuals we feel are abusing the sytem. There is also a fourth option, and one which I would hope we can try and do ..... use it in the way it was intended !!!! vote for posts you think make a valid point or where you agree with the opinion and vote for those posts where you disagree with the opinion expressed. Voting a post down when it is a simple question seems quite ludicrous2 points

The name we have now is perfectly fine. It's 2010 nearly 2011 and if older people want a name change thats fine but it's the younger generation thats coming through now and in the near future. To me Caledonian F.C. and Thistle F.C. each have their own history but ICT are who I've grown up supporting and I'd be very surprised if anybody my age wanted a name change. I'm 24 now but looking around Inverness these days there are far more people wearing ICT tops in town and at school than when I was there. This will continue to grow it just needs patience.2 points

In football, some players dive to win penalties. The solution is not to abolish penalties. Better to clamp down on anyone who is abusing the system.1 point

If any poster wants to target someone else let him/her come out in the open and put his/her thoughts in a post on the thread. Then there is no suspicion of this being underhand. I very occasionally post a dot, predominantly green ones(by far), but I can't honestly see the merit in having this type of value system which has no requirement to justify itself openly. Mahonio has a point and a half and maybe it's time to review the worth of keeping the red/green dot addition to this site. My vote?--terminate it.1 point

Glad to see McCann has been dropped and Duncan starts. Expecting a tough game today. I'd be happy with a draw1 point

If indeed certain posters are being targetted it is wrong but maybe they should ask themselves why. If they'd restrict themselves to making valid points rather than having an opinion about everything they would surely see a positive change. That is just my opinion, which I don't feel that strongly about. How do I give myself a red dot?1 point

As the mother of one of the u19 squad and also the mother of the boy who was treated without respect by one of the backroom staff after the aberdeen game and who was in attendence at the keith game , i cant believe what i am reading in these posts. The boys were at rock bottom after the Keith game and knew that they had let the club down and themselves down but they showed great character to bounce back and beat the league leaders in their next game. They lost a game to another team that is football they will learn from that and adapt and if they dont they wont have a future in the game. What the boys need is support and backing and time to grow and develop, not people to come on websites calling for their coaches to be replaced. Thankfully my son has found the staff at ICT to be supportive and that is from the top down ( maybe with one exception).I travelled by train from aberdeen to go and see the Keith game and yes the result was disappointing but i would do it again to show support to the team. Maybe those who are closer could turn out and support the boys and not down the team. In football you win as a team and lose as a team, from the coaches down to the players. So please support the team so you can enjoy the benefits that will come from the team1 point

Not really...They didn't play the best they could....but then Keith didn't let them. Is football not a game of two teams.....and not of one team standing there to allow the "better team" to score willy nilly? Did Scotland have an attitude problem against Spain? Is it not about time Scotland spent some serious money and employed a suitably qualified coach who also has a playing pedigree? I take it you are either the mother or girlfriend of one of our U19 squad and I can fully accept you want to defend his position. However, I cannot accept that a SHFL club have more talented players than us nor can I accept that they would be more tactically aware to enable them to "stop" us playing. Sorry, but our boys went out against Keith because they thought that they only had to turn up to win this tie. If the coaches had them mentally prepared (as they should be for ALL games) they should have won comfortably. If Keith FC had better players than ICT, then we don't have the right quality at the club. In either case, where would you lay the blame? Why would you assume that.....I wish, but.it has been a lot of years since I was the mother or girlfriend of anyone under 19? I was at the game because I rarely get down the road when there is a game of any kind at ICT, and I watch what I can access. Did you actually attend the game, out of interest,.or are you just going by the mindset that "this club is not SPL so can't possibly have u-19s who can raise their game to beat a mostly u-17 squad"? Logically, what you are saying is that every time ICT beats any club who would normally be expected to beat them, such as Celtic etc is because the other team has an attitude problem and not that the ICT players have raised their game? Try saying that to the ICT first team squad!. Shucks, with "supporters" like you, who needs opponents/enemies?1 point

I would but working, how many do u normally take away? Usually about a bottle of vodka, two litres of coke and a case of Bellhaven.1 point

Minimum of 18 would be my vote, but that's not going to happen any time soon. The BBC have it spot on with the 14 teams and it has been pretty much agreed and only requires rubber stamping. A move to 14 teams with the unequal split is, IMO, even more ridiculous than the current setup. They talk about making changes for "the good of the game", but little or no attention is given to the customers desires. Not only is that not good for the game, but is very short sighted when it comes to the business aspect. 14 teams will do NOTHING to improve things, an 8/6 split will do NOTHING to improve things and we'll all be sitting here in another year or two talking over the next stupid idea they come up with. The fact of the matter, as far as I am concerned, is that they (the SPL) can't be seen to do nothing and would rather put through a ridiculous change which will have next to no impact on the SPL clubs, than make proper changes for the long term...even if that did come with some short term negatives.1 point

It is fitting that a preview such as this one coincides with the introduction of an article rating system .... someone mentioned a couple of weeks back how it might be nice to be able to give the equivalent of green dots to our previews and reports and it was a relatively easy ask. The rating system is now in effect for stories and the comments you can add to them ......1 point

You have a point there, I was chatting to about 9000 people in the pub the other night and they all said if the name changed they would be chomping at the bit to watch Inverness Highland Scotland UK united play football. Regarding all the so called stay aways from the merger, what was the average highland league attendance at the 2 clubs and what would be a realistic percentage of people staying away 5% ? IMO the majority of so called abstainers are people who didn't actually go to any matches, have no interest in football but instead have invented a reason to talk about why they don't go to watch footy.1 point

Invernes Caledonian Thistle is a great name! In our short history this name is in the history books as winners of Div 3, Div 1 (twice), 8th Feb 2000 night, and SPL seasons. We shouldnt change it to appease folk that don't even support the club. I also like how we have kept the identities of Caley and Thistle and that is very much part of our history. I was 8 when the club formed and i'll never forget going wth my dad to the games at Telford Street aged 7+ ............ lets be positive about our past... forget about the stay aways.... their no longer fans!1 point

Unfortunate, but as long as these old dinosaurs didn't manage to persuade you that their view was ever a significant problem after the legalities got sorted out in 1995, no harm will have been done, so just continue to enjoy supporting SPL football in Inverness. (And hopefully we can avoid yet another round of discussion here on the old myth which keeps resurfacing on this forum.)-1 points

My first post (Not relation to anyone in the U 19's before you start caleyboy). What are you on about caleyboy?!! These are young men (16, 17 & 18 year olds!) developing their own individual ability in the game!! Yes it is a game!! Nothing to do with attitude, just a bunch of young men learning their trade and making the odd mistake. Some will be better than others and unlike other professions, most will have to go and find another career at the age of 18!!! I made a couple of mistakes at my work today but no-one is accusing me of having an attitude or blaming my boss. And I am 29, not 17!! you think I would be more perfect at my age, like you!! As for blaming the coaches, what playing pedigree do you think/know is required to coach our U 19's & what qualifications do you desire our club coaches to have? This was my original post re this game: "An absolute disgrace getting beat at this level by a SHFL youth side some of whom also played the day before. Was this an attitude problem? Was it a quality problem? If it was attitude the coach needs replacing! If it was a quality problem the whole structure needs an overhaul! Now I know why we don't hear very much about this squad. Sorry to be negative but this is the reward for doing everything on the cheap and the Club investing absolutely NOTHING in our youth programme! This is NOT the players fault - they are still learning - it is down to coaching, discipline and the teaching of good habits!" I have fully supported our Youth Development since the club was formed but we are an SPL club and this is a Professional squad so it is far more than just a GAME. To get to this level the kids obviously have the ability which now needs development on a full time basis but the essential elements required are ATTITUDE and GOOD HABITS. As an SPL club, I would expect our U19's coaches to have at LEAST a SFA YOUTH LICENCE! However, I would also expect them to be working towards the EUROPEAN PRO Licence. You will find that our U19 coaches do not hold either. Just as important, I think PLAYING experience at a FULL-TIME PROFESSIONAL level is also a MUST in order to impart the knowledge to our young pros. I beleive the Club already has 2 individuals suitably qualified in both areas but they are not involved with our U19's. Sorry if I have upset anyone by my comments but it is VITAL that the club gets this right for our future eg Grant Munro & Nick Ross to name just two who have come all the way through the programme.-1 points

Well thats the end of that then. I believe he was offered his own airport as part of the deal but it was turned down because he has a fast jet and Kinloss was for slow jets. He was also offered his own estate but felt that 300 houses was not quite what he wanted. Of the two Rooneys which one would he of been the fat one with glasses of the really small one who uses junior golf clubs. I really think we were wise to stick with the one we have got, the other one would have just got in his way. We would also have had to spent money, we would need to raise the Kessock Bridge to allow him to get his head through. :tongueincheek:-1 points

Ok i'm not an Invernessian but i consider Inverness my home being here for the last ten years or so I know this is a touchy subject to some on here but i feel its a question that needs asked Should we continue to use ICT as our clubs name or change it completely to something else? I ask because the lack of support by Inverness football fans, i think anyone who was there yesterday realises that the attendance was very dissapointing it certainly wasn't 4882 which was reported or no where near it Why are Invernessians not following there local team in numbers? A city of the size of Inverness should attract 5000+ at the very least every home game in my opinion Yes i realise there are busses that leave town on saturday mornings for Ibrox, Parkhead and Pittodrie but i'm not sure how many but i doubt that leads to that many fans? I know from personal experience whilst out drinking that i've experienced unpleasantness and contempt from pre-merger fans when it comes to ICT, ive even been verbally abused on numerous occassions by them and also Clach supporters just because of the team i chose to follow My plan is a radical one but i personally would buy out Clach and Inverness City and continue both sides in their respective leagues but use both of them for our reserves and fringe players I feel the time is right to change the name in an attempt to get the whole of Inverness behind the team so ive started a poll with some ideas(ive still included our current title for fans that don't want change) Dougal Edited to say i voted Inverness FC-2 points
