  2. Channel 4 would like to inform you that a new series of Faking it will be broadcast early December. We would have liked to give the entrants the usual 2 weeks and expert guideance but unfortuneately due to cut backs we are just giving them uniforms and fake id. I'm sure you will find it great viewing. Episode 1- meet Dave, hes a milkman and is going to perform neurosurgery at Mayday hospital, tune in and find out how he gets on. The following week we will be faking it with a linesman at a Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Motherwell, football match.

  3. I thought Motherwell exposed a number of weaknesses in our side and gave us all a bit of a wake up call. We were completely outmuscled in midfield where every loose ball seemed to break to a Motherwell player - not through luck but because they were fighting so hard for it and in the end up they were simply bigger, stronger and better than our midfield. Both full-backs struggled yesterday against direct running. Shinnie couldn't cope with Humphreys who knew from the first minute that he had him for pace and strength. McCann's passing was very poor and he wasn't the only one - we struggled to string more than 3 passes together throughout the 90 minutes. At 2-0 we looked dead and buried and i really couldn't see us coming back but Duff's excellent strike turned the crowd and the game. For 15 breathless minutes we pushed hard for an equaliser that we wouldn't have deserved. What was the average age of the team that finished the game? Ross, Shinnie, Sutherland and Morrison are all teenagers from the youth system. Rooney, Hayes and McCann are 23 and under. It's all very exciting for the future but it's not a team that's going to compete in the brutally physical upper reaches of the SPL. And then the man that we all expected to be most at home in this company was posted missing. I don't think it's got anything to do with the armband - Richie Foran, even after 6 weeks back in the first team, just doesn't look fit. This all sounds very negative but the big picture still looks great. The game was just a bit of a come down after our glorious unbeaten run but the team still has great potential and i wouldn't be surprised to see us pump Aberdeen on Tuesday night.

  4. It doesn't take the brains of Albert Einstein to work out that either Dougal is clueless Dougal is a merger refusenik who is passing himself off as a poor English sod who thinks he can do a better job than the yokels, whilst attempting to wind up said yokels as much as possible.

  5. Just very frustrating, our manager really does have to address how we approach these home games mentally. Need to concentrate 100% for 90 minutes without drifting off. have to put everything into a game like we seem to do away from home when the team spend a full morning focusing on it, its not like they have to do much the other 9990 minutes there are in a week. How long do the squad spend together before a match? If its just the 30 odd minutes pre kick off then maybe that needs to be looked at, I can imagine on an away trip it isnt just the bus trip that bonds the team and keeps them focused, their routines in and around away grounds are probably very different than they are at home. Do the team meet away from the ground and travel together like alot of sides make their squads do or do they just meet at the Stadium? Reality check landed though, well done Motherwell.

  6. Whilst I agree with most of what's been written about the game maybe we all need to slow down a little or someone will soon be calling for the managers head. Last week we were world beaters. This week we lost an entertaining encounter to a brisk Motherwell and suddenly we are hopeless. We had a lot of opportunities to score yesterday. Off the top of my head, great chances for Hayes, Rooney and Ross in the first half, and even better ones in the second half. Two for Rooney, one for Sutherland and another couple of scary moments that could have gone in our favour. Motherwell were hanging on a bit at the end. They maybe overall deserved it, but we were a close second methinks.

  7. I think this may be a decision Mike Noble clarified on MFR yesterday. The MFR commentator was talking about the blatant passback and MN clarified that because the passback was as a result of a challenge, the passback rule did not apply. I cant say I understand the ins and outs of it, but thats pretty much what Mike said. A lot of fans shouted for this - understandable - I did. If an indirect free kick had been given for it, it would have been an incorrect decision IMVHO. I actually though Tumilty had a good game yesterday - aside from the free kicks he gave for what were very light challenges. He did seem pretty balanced though. Motherwell got some free kicks from challenges which looked pretty light - but so did we. Motherwell were the better side over the 90 minutes. I thought they looked pretty impressive - especially at the back. (Queue furry of red dots...)

  8. totally outplayed first half. our forwards cannot hold the ball, resulting in wave after wave of motherwell attacks. if it was'nt for some excellent esson saves could have been 3-4 down at half-time. odiambo needs 3 touches after his first touch, -to control the ball- which either goes up in the air or too far from his body allowing easy interceptions by opposition. for me butcher is being too loyal to some players, surely he can now see that the boy mcann is not up to scratch. don't know if any of his passes went to one of our players yesterday, easily conceding possesion. if he isnt giving the ball away he is slipping on his ass at crucial times. thought game changed when morrison was introduced. he was solid, eager to get involved, got the ball down and played some nice passes around the motherwell box. need to ship mcann back to hibs, duff to right back, odiambo to bench which will allow foran to play in his natural wide left position where he is the most effective. give young morrison a run in midfield with duncan or cox or get someone else in january. we cannot keep giving teams goals of a start at home and then try to play catch up in the second half.

  10. Shocker from that main stand side assistant. He was watching the game instead of the last defender. He had some howlers in terms of the offsides.

  12. Really enjoyable game I thought. Could quite easily have ended 4-4. I was really impressed with Motherwell, best team I've seen up here this season. Shinnie will be having a few nightmares about their winger, he gave him a torrid time. First half, I thought we played really well, getting Hayes on the ball a lot. Second half...he disappeared from the game, and we were a poor second in every department I thought. It wasn't until Sutherland came on that we picked it up again, and we could've quite easily grabbed an equaliser towards the end. Still, no shame in losing to them, and we played a big part in a really entertaining game.

  13. Mr Wonder could have seen it was in sitting in his Detroit mansion watching through a telescope. A good yard over and that was from the back of the North Stand.

  15. I think you would be surprised just how many people do leave the city every weekend to go watch the OF. I would put the figure in the high hundreds given the number of minibuses and coaches they hire. In saying that, I do agree with you that the trend seems to be reversing though and things swing more in our favour with each new generation that comes through....evidenced by the fact that we are probably one of the few, if not the only team, that can show fairly consistent attendance growth over the past 15 years.

  16. Sorry but that means what? Break it down we beat Dundee utd (3rd place and cup winners) drew with Rangers (league winners). The home form is a poor reflection on the away form and we need to sort it out asap

  17. Dougal do you have nightmares at night and then post crap the next day Apart from the Glasgow twins and Hearts there are no other teams in Scotland who have city centre shops. Falkirk tried it and that failed. We tried partnerships and these failed. People will not pay over the odds for goods so paying the cost of outlets, rent, rates, staff etc cannot be recovered within nthe price of the goods. Within the UK there are no more than about ten clubs who can justify such an enterprise and even they are struggling in the current climate.

  18. Perhaps Stevico will say otherwise but I am reliably informed that a deal has been done with the good old confidentiality clause. Personally I will not be sad to see it all wither into history. The muppets are saved once again.

  19. Better to be a large co.ck on a small dunghill than a small co.ck on a large dunghill. His salary should not be a pittance by any means I would wager so why would he not want to be a long term resident of Inverness, put the team and himself on the map and enter his dotage smoking tartan-wrapped cigars with his newly-bandaged heid wrapped in a MacButcher toorie with a tassle on the top......marked... "Here rests ma toorie on mah bloody red head I know I've dun a guid joab and now ah'm aff tae bed They like me here in Inverness and I like it here too It's a nice wee placie and I know you would say that too. I've had a tough life and no mistake, and it's not always worked out But here at Caley Thistle things have gotten better and better throughout And that is surely without a doubt 'cos Terry has prioved he has clout. I stayed for the glory and a little bit for the pay But, the real reason was that I could do whit ah wanted and I did it MY WAY. Yeah, yeah, YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, Wullie, pass the bluidy ball man and get on with the bleeding play. :004:

  24. Not quite sure why Cox wasn't the first choice replacement for Russell. Whilst I like Eric, I feel supersub is where he serves the team best. It would have been a different game had one of our early chances gone in, then it wouldn't have made much difference, but when Rooney and Hayes have to come so far back to pick up a ball then something is amiss. The standside linesman made some strange calls, but nonetheless, I think The Well just shaded it. At our best, in the middle of the first half and end of second we could have got something from the game and we will beat them away. However, slightly worried by the lack of good strikes from Rooney. I do not believe that unlike Hayes, he has found his SPL form yet. Good game though. No complaints.

  25. I find it unbelievable that we dont' have an ICT shop in the city centre!! Think of the extra income this would generate to the club Yes i know there is that decrepit portacabin outside the main stand but it hardly entices punters to enter, other than match days its unlikely they see a soul for the other six days off the week Both the old firm are giving it a big GIRUY to us by selling their merchandise in our city while we sit back and do nothing I'm not talking about opening a superstore or anything but a small outlet maybe similar to the size of the Celtic shop Thoughts?
