If he does move to Crawley then it would appear that money was his main motivation. That might not be the case but many will view it that way. It's not really a step up and certainly hasnt been worth all this waiting. Either that or Crawley were one of very few teams prepared to offer him something as opposed to just showing intrest.3 points

George Best was pretty small too. The thing is, you play to your strengths. If you have small skillful players you keep the ball on the deck, if you have tall strikers you play the high ball - if you have Andy Barrowman you go into the transfer market.1 point

good start. i wonder if this is something we will see more often. G. Shinnie at left mid. with him and gillet fit i think we would have struggled to chose between them last season, so him pushing further forward could be a good thing. can't recall what his crossing was like though?1 point

Figured the Brummie move out now ..........Hughton their new gaffer........... who was his assistant at Newcastle...........Hibees Calderwood............ who wanted to sign Rooney ? Who`s wanting Hibees Calderwood as his assistant.............Hughton ! Nice we tactical triangular move with Rooney scoring !1 point

Regardless of the money Rene, it's good for our rep. Players will be more attracted to come to us IMHO. Wouldn't it be ironic now if we get a Euro spot next year. (And a top six finish!)1 point

I wonder though if Butcher and the rest of the club will be disappointed on turning down that ?100,000. Was that really worth it for his performances after Christmas? As I said though, life goes on.1 point

I'd be very concerned if we go with just Tokely and Aldred. I think we are in need of someone who has a few more years and games uner their belt. Meekings was decent but if we already have Aldred i would prefer someone a little bit more experienced.1 point

At the end of the day, if he does go to Crawley I will be disappointed and would agree with those who say its all about the money. I know pretty much nothing about that club other than what people have posted in here but cannot see how it is a step up in anything but wages. I very much doubt it will enhance his international chances, I very much doubt it will put him in the shop window as much as going to a higher level side, another SPL side or even back to us .... so disappointed if it happens. Crawley may be ambitious, and they may get there in time, good luck to them in that effort ... as someone said, we too were ambitious wee upstarts once upon a time !! Also, as far as the player is concerned, no grudges there either. We got our money's worth in terms of his contract and the return he gave us for that contract so all is good in that respect. Just disappointed if he does go for the money and also because he promised to give the club and fans a quick decision about what he was doing months ago1 point

The Record also carry's this article : "Motherwell striker Michael Higdon: I could have made more money in England but I wanted to play at highest level" In which Michael says that Crawley Town had offered him more money to go there, but he'd rather play at a higher level. So it looks like Adam was there second choice to Higdon. Our new striker Terry Gornell (Finger crossed we get him) comes I think from League 2 and see's us as a step up... I guess it is all about the money !1 point

Many people see Crawley Town as the English equivalent of Gretna, merely the plaything of a rich owner who will soon tire of his new toy. Personally I think they will last the course. They are extremely ambitious, with a good ground and facilities and have already proved in the Conference that they can play football. I expect them to be challenging for promotion in their first season in FL2. So, I can see that, apart from the big wages, that it could be an exciting place for Rooney to spend a year. If he is successful there, then without doubt the door will be open to many of the good Championship sides. If he went to Birmingham (or one of the other so called interested temas) now, I suspect he would be a bench warmer, and probably not on any more money than Crawley can afford. As an aside, I see that Crawley are due at Aldershot early in the season, so I can see myself visiting them (my nearest FL2 ground) twice within a few weeks!1 point

Messi is 5'7", but I think Maradona is even smaller at 5'5". Two of the greatest players the world has ever seen. But I bet you if they'd been raised in Scotland, their clubs would have released them by the time they were 18!1 point

Kind of reminds me of the who Dargo re-signing saga that also seemed to go to the 11th hour. One things for sure though, big players have left this club before and a quality replacement always pops up somewhere.1 point

Not a bad run put for the boys I thought. In terms of my opinion of the new guys. Meekings did not fill me with much confidence, good talker but too easily beaten in the air, he's not a centre half IMO. Andy Shinnie was alright I thought, bagged a couple of goals but didn't seem to do much else other than run offside. The game also seemed to pass Tansey by so still yet to get an opinion on him. The new goalkeeper (can't remember his name) had nothing to do. Thought Greig looked a handful when he came on. My man of the match would probs be Nick Ross he seemed to be involved in anything we did going forward. Have to say despite scoring 7 im pretty worried about where our goals are going to come from this season.. Just hope Tade or Gornell look more the part.0 points

I still honestly hope Duff signs, a wee bit off topic but he's experienced and can play in lots of different positions.0 points

Season tickets prices at Man City have been put up in price recently. Attendance doesn't really mean much, but that's another debate altogether. Attendance dont matter? ?300 x 2000 ish (just a rough guess) = ?600,000 ?305 x 30000 ish (rough guess again) = ?9,150,000 so yeah am sure you can afford to make them cheaper-1 points
