We should only sign players who promise to stay in Inverness until they are collecting their pension. Alternatively all new signings should have Graeme Bennett's face tattooed on their forehead.1 point

Every dog has its day. And rangers F C has, fortunately or unfortunately, had its day too. It has has run its course and these incredible happenings hves come about because something was very wrong with, or inside, this club. Frankly speaking, if Rangers F. C, or the new substitute, fell completely off the radar screen then that would solve a lot of problems and would serve as a premium status notice to Scottish football as a whole that this kind of conduct is intolerable. Degrading conduct and dishonesty should run its course and end up where Rangers has --in the gutter . As for Craig Burley it seems clear he is worried about his employment first because why should he attempt to justify retention of the cheaters in a prominent posution in Scottish football? Now he is flailing around in an unseemly way, criticising players who ,being smart, can see the writing on the wall and also see no future with Newco Rangers at all. Unless there was something in it for him why would Craig Burley simly not play the neutral card instead of blurting out such statements. Who got to Craig from the upper echelons of Scottish football.? There is an old saying..." When you hear a man speak, consider his interests.". Craig must be in a wholesale panic to have jumped into the cauldron like this.Or severely threatened or pushed? Mr Burley STILL does not get it. This is NOT about money but, for once in this greedy, money-mad planet, a resounding shout for justice, honour and integrity. The average fan, who is essentailly the life blood of the game, is fed up with the SUITS and wants to get back to the basics of fairness and playing by the rules. The suggestion that the beaks of the upper echelons either sack themselves or disband in some way is amusing because how can the Management all sack themselves at once? Who is going to settle the lawsuits for the sik suits and for them to voluntarily give up the golden feeding trough is unthinkable. A pox on their houses but, being realistic, for them to resign enmasse would be a disaster and make Scottish Football the laughing stock of the world. Resigning en masse would be seen as their admisssion of failure and a perception that they were about to scuttle and desert the sinking ship. There would be no job for any of them anywhere else after that. The doors everywhere would slam shut with a reverberating clang. No one likes dirty laundry to be washed in public. Newco to the 3rd division is a must and it should happen. The cries in the wilderness to let them stay in the 1st Divvy are cries of panic and despair. To hear them is one thing but to support them is another and the latter would be the worst thing for football in general that has ever happened in Scotland. Oh My! Am I ever looking forward to a more equal SPL with even Celtic feeling the financial strain and other clubs actually getting a fairer chance to shine and maybe win the league. and THAT would be the best thing to happen to the SPL and this alone might spark a fan regeneration for the clubs.1 point

now he's backtracking .... Press Association article from 10 minutes ago Scottish Premier League chief executive Neil Doncaster has played down fears of clubs facing immediate threat of insolvency events following their decision to reject the newco Rangers application. Doncaster acknowledged that the short-term commercial impact of their decision was difficult to determine given uncertainty over contracts including broadcasting deals. But when asked about an instant danger to clubs, he said: "I wouldn't have thought so. I'm not privy to the details of all member clubs' financial positions. The whole issue has an awful lot riding on it, there are some big numbers involved. The easy decision would have been to say 'yes' and protect commercial revenues. The clubs have decided to be bold and say 'no'." Full Article http://www.google.co...61341426171482A He still doesnt get it does he ??? The clubs are not being bold (well not as their primary purpose anyway), the clubs are following their supporters and even a large number of supporters of Rangers Oldco in placing sporting integrity before commercial gain. This fool needs to resign now if he thinks the "easy" decision would have been YES ... There was no easy decision for any chairman in terms of finances and keeping their clubs afloat, especially with all the alleged bully-boy (or was that Billy-Boy) and scare tactics coming from his direction ... instead there was just the right decision in saying no and preserving the integrity of the sport, a decision that may hurt now, but that hopefully will ultimately allow Scottish Football to bounce back, perhaps re-organise itself so it is not a duopoly off the park as well as on it, and shed itself of those who seek to further the agenda of just two clubs instead of all 42 .......1 point

What about this excellent statement from Stranraer: The committee of Stranraer FC met this evening to discuss the papers recently received in advance of the SFL clubs meeting. The papers indicate a number of proposals and scenarios to deal with the potential vacancy that would occur if the expulsion of an SPL club occurs this week. The committee unanimously agreed that the proposals are produced in haste and are unconvinced about the justification for departing from the rules and standards that the SFL represent. As a club recently faced with possible extinction and fighting our way back from financial difficulties we fully understand the position that a club could find themselves placed in and as a supporters run club, fully understand the passions of the supporters of clubs affected by such an event. We are not convinced at the emotive language currently being aired to describe the potential ramifications to our game should a NewCo not be given special case treatment and consider that the benefits that could be negotiated do not counter balance the damage that would be done to the credibility of the SFL as a governing body. We hold the stance that it is our place to act in the best long term interests of Stranraer FC and for Scottish Football as a whole and see no reason to breach the integrity of the SFL by filling a vacancy at any level other than at the lowest tier. The possibility of placing a NewCo at any other level breaches the sporting competition of our organisation and compromises the very structure of our game. There should not be a special case made for any club and we believe that the proper place for a phoenix club to restart life is at the lowest level. We believe it is right and proper than any club should have the right to apply for the resulting vacancy and we would then form a view on which club we would support for election to any vacancy based on the presentation case made by the applicants. Irrespective of the size, stature, history and resources of the club filling the vacancy, the opportunity exists for that club to find their way back to their natural tier in the league structure in a fair and equitable manner while being encouraged to trade and exist successfully within the means at their disposal. Restructuring of the league set-up and governing bodies is complex and difficult with many differing views and interests across the clubs in the spectrum. The current proposal has been compiled as a reaction to the unique and unexpected circumstances we are faced with and while there are clearly a number of ingredients that have great merit, this is too great an issue to be dealt with in this seemingly indecent haste.1 point

Are you hearing rumours too that if Rangers end up in the 1st division then their fans are walking away from the club, their fans want to follow their team with honour and pride, they want to rebuild from division 3 and hold their heads high in doing so and not sneak into div 1 by the back door due to bullying and threats1 point

Revenue loss for who exactly? Fans of Scottish football have stood up and voiced their opinion for doing the right thing and the one at the top of the SPL tree is still more interested in spread sheets than sporting integrity. Forget your CV Doncaster and how much the SPL had made since your arrival (if any) In business staff retire, leave, get sacked, life goes on, some companies fold but in this case all of the business customers (fans) have pledged to continue contributing money to the new co. Rangers are actually in a fantastic position, no more high earners, still have a high turnover from loyal fans who will support their team through thick and thin and playing against 3rd div pt time opposition and all with local home grown tallent (which is every fans dream) now if they cant pay their players a wage thats on par with div 1 players then theyre feckin idiots. They will still have global merchandise sales plus a huge fanbase by the time they reach the SPL they should have a good bit of cash in the bank for the first time ever.1 point

But does that not mean Newco starting in the Southern League or Highland League or equivalents to get the required three years of audited accounts etc that every other team which applies to join the SFL is required to have...or alternatively, buying a Club in one of the other divisions and taking their place as Airdrie United did? Every other brand new team takes a minimum three years, unless they go the alternative route, to even get to the application stage, so Newco should be looking at a minimum of five years in the wilderness before hitting SFL1....which should be plenty of time to ensure that by then, Scottish Football has sorted itself out...and stopped running the whole of Scottish football for the benefit of two teams and the flaming TV..1 point

It's not a question of punishment. This is a new club - it is the old club and those who are responsible for all the wrong doing who need to be punished. The point is simply that a new club should enter an established league system at the bottom and work its way up. If they are good enough they will get into division 1 in 2 years time. If they are not good enough a club that is good enough will move into division 1 instead. Meanwhile it would be quite wrong to deny a place in the the first division to a team that is good enough, who play by the rules and who therefore have earnt that place. It is exactly the same argument as that which says they have no right to be in the SPL.1 point
