  2. Personally though Shane put in a great shift in when he replaced Billy. Chased every loose ball. Id go as far as saying he helped us seal the game, in a way in which Billy couldnt. He was a great out ball, big deal he missed a chance, Billy's missed plenty chances, and anyway he created the chance himself. Give the players a fecking break just once. Thats the second time ive seen Shane play up top off the bench this season, the first been against Aberdeen when he came on won a penalty, created a couple chances and then got injured, and thats the second time hes had a positive impact. wouldnt surprise me at all if we see Terry using him more often to ease pressure at the end of games. He was the best outball we had on saturday, with the pitch being poor and having to resort to the longball often. The highlights showed his miss but what they didnt show was the linking with A.Shinnie and Nick Ross, and the corners/throw ins he won. At this level players miss chances. Fact!

  3. I thought this was going to be about winning a game with Esson in goal.

  4. Its no wonder that TB enjoys away games and the away support. He doesnt have to listen to the constant griping of the "fans??" who sit behind or around the dugouts and whose only joy seems to be to criticise and name-call the management. People are free to criticise but some of these "fans" only see the worst and are so "glass near empty", they are sad and I really dont know why they go to the games. The away crowd are noisy and encourage the team, and TB and Mo - if only that were the case at the home games. Rant over.

  5. After the game, in the Gorgie Garry Warren Suite, Danny Wilson (who was awarded MOTM by Hearts ) gave a wee speech to the fans. He started moaning that decisions didn't go their way in the game. GIRUY!

  6. I'd like to think that those who were planning going and willing/able to pay full price would continue to do so and that the offer would only be used to bring along new faces. Otherwise the club is just losing out on revenue. A bit idealistic I know....but I like to try and think the best of people!!!

  7. By getting his 18th league goal of the season, Billy Mackay has overtaken Craig Dargo to to become the ICT player with the highest SPL goal tally in a single season. And there are still 11 games left.

  9. Roberts last week, Sutherland this week....who's turn next week? From other comments, I agree with OCG...yesterday felt like we were solidly back into the situation where we were always going to score more than them. I think we also looked as composed as we ever have in the final throws of the game, which have tended to contribute to some of the nerviest moments this season. I certainly didn't find myself clock watching and praying for the whistle.

  10. All our top strikers have had barren spells and often it takes a significant run in the side for things to click. Billy is a classic example of that - pretty poor return last season but he's developed the confidence this season and is now setting club scoring records. What should be disheartening for Shane is not the criticism some give on this forum, but the fact that he has never had a decent run in the side in a strikers role. Yes, he has tended to sky a few but he has the confidence to hit the ball hard. He has strength and can turn defenders well and has the makings of a very useful striker. What he needs is the confidence that a run in the side will give and that little bit of extra composure which comes with that so that he gets his foot over the ball more. If he does read this site he will know that there are a lot of folk who think he could be a very good striker indeed for ICT.

  11. He's been playing in the French 3rd or 4th division ever since, which is probably a reasonable standard to be fair. Here he is for his latest club, Romorantin, scoring the winning goal in a French Cup tie against Nantes. http://www.fcnantes.com/articles/TV.php?num=6975

  13. Meekings was signed as a right back, it was only due to injury that he was moved into the middle....and long may it continue.

  14. Yeah I don't think we should go there again! Jeez! Some people on here would call the police / faint / write to their MSP / start a petition / cry (delete as appropriate) if they'd heard that drunken conversation. I still think the Presidents 11 was one of the best ever. That was fun. Next topic: Dictators XI Dictators XI. Good shout. That can be for the Wymess Bay trip!

  15. A win on Wednesday would all but prevent Dundee Utd from getting ahead of us before the split. Over the last few weeks while our results have not been great but yet none of the other clubs bar County have gone on any kind of run to stake that claim for 2nd, results have been very kind to us, so 2nd place is ours to lose. If we continue to play well and get results like at Tynecastle on Saturday I predict our home match vs County will be the one where we clinch a top 6 place.

  16. Lots of ways of analysing this but if the current form over the last 6 games was translated into the next 6 games (or 5 for those teams with just the 5 stil to play the league would look like this Top six 78 points Celtic (and already champions 2 or 3 games ago) 52 County 48 ICT 48 St J 46 Kilmarnock 45 Motherwell Bottom six 44 Dundee U 43 Hibs 42 Aberdeen 34 Hearts 34 St M 16 Dundee (and relegated) This is actually quite encouraging given our current poor run of results. Teams are all taking points off each other and even if a couple of sides go on really good runs the rest will all be losing a lot of points. Just 4 points from the next 6 games could see us still in the top 6, but 6 points from the next 2 games should really guarantee a top 6 finish. County's currrent form is very impressive with 14 points from the last 6 games and therefore the 2 games against them become huge games. A win against United on Wednesday and a draw at the sand pit on Saturday would make it an excellent week. It feels very uncomfortable with just 4 points currently separating us in 2nd place and Dundee United in 9th. Anything could happen, but realistically for us not to finish top 6 would require us to drop to Dundee standards. I really can't see that happening and I am sure fans of the other clubs in the race would much rather be in our position than theirs.

  19. What a group of defeatists we are. We are playing well. We are dominating games for long periods. We may have lost six league games but we've only been beaten by three of the eleven other teams in the league. We have a team of players who are more than capable of holding their own against everyone below us. The only slump we've had of late is in our finishing. We're creating plenty chances but not taking the final chance. Against Motherwell last week we had a similar number of shots on target as them but they scored theirs. I believe we will get a European spot and that we can hold onto third. I think the heavy defeats from Motherwell have ensured they stay above us. Always look on the bright side of life

  20. A midweek match, so I can't make it, unfortunately. I've had the pleasure of being at both matches against Dundee United so far this season and both were cracking. £5 is a snip - get down to the TCS.

  23. I think if we can win 4 ( very realistic) then we shall be comfortably in the top 6. It will then be very tight in the top 6 and anyones to play for for the european spots. Even if we dont make europe, at the start of the season if you where asked if you would be happy to see the club in the top 6 and the semi final of the league cup, i think EVERY SINGLE FAN would have taken that then and there no questions asked.
