I'd forgotten that Barrenman had moved to Dundee. This means he now holds the honour of having been relegated from the SPL 3 times with 3 different clubs. It is actually the only hatrick of his career.7 points

Dont really give a toss about the 2nd kit, its a change kit and should give us an opportunity to try different combinations ... Dont recall us ever having had a red/black kit so no problem with that ..... However, I definitely think our home strip should always be some combination of Red/Blue stripes and we should stick with that year in and year out. Maybe alternate the thickness of the stripes, or which colour is more predominant so sales don't suffer, but always striped. Black/White can be added as piping just as it is now and all our historical colours are then taken care of.4 points

Brilliant news. I think he has been one our most important players this season. Sure, his final ball is often not the best but that will improve. What is so impressive about Doran is his ability to make himself available and to get involved with the play. He may not be as exciting to watch as Jonny Hayes on song but he gets far more involved and contributes far more to the team than Hayes ever did. I also think Doran has been a key factor in the more obvious success of MacKay and A Shinnie this season. I would have been delighted with a further one year contract but a 3 year contract is just fantastic news. It could be just about the best bit of business the club has ever done.2 points

For some reason, 'Rio' by that 80's band "Doran Doran" springs to mind ... something about his name being Aaron and dancing down the wing !!! sorry to our younger posters, that will probably go over your heads ! or to the tune of the Pink Panther ..... Doran, Doran, Doran-Doran-Doran ......etc.,2 points

The more I think about it, the more I like this deal ...... Obviously, he is a good player and has come on leaps and bounds. We are all happy to see him sign a new deal. BUT, for me the most pleasing aspect is that it is a three year deal ..... Firstly, here is a player at age 22, with other clubs sniffing around, who is prepared to commit himself to our club for more than the standard 2 year contract, and secondly, and more importantly, our club has broken through that barrier of only offering 2 year deals and using the excuse of hedging our bets against relegation to justify it. Maybe we have finally matured as a club and after our 4th place finish this season, we finally see ourselves as an SPL team, there on merit, and not relegation fodder ... a big step forward for all concerned.2 points

A "Caley" home and "Thistle" away shirt is a bad idea IMO. All it'll do is open up old wounds, particularly as the "Caley" shirt would be used more (strange how that's always the one identified as being the home kit, why not by the same token, Thistle at home and Caley away?). We should be creating an identity for our club as "one" (encapsulating "togetherness" if you will), and going to a relatively equal red and blue home kit (preferably as a striped jersey). Having two different identities for the home and away shirts would do the exact opposite.1 point

Isn't that a shade racist? What is wrong with the bowels of the Scottish/Irish/Welsh League system.... or do you have no faith in the ability of Scottish/Irish/Welsh youth coaches to come across decent players that their own managements think are crap.....or are you just running with the fact that it looks rather as if Marsella only looks for players in English leagues so English players are the only option? Oddquine, first off I fail to see the racistness of Kingsmills comments. Your own comment may have held some credibility were it not for the fact you didn't stop to think before writing. Quite a few of the players we have found in recent times actually started out in Scottish, Irish or Welsh football. Some of them just happened to be playing in England before we discovered them. The fact is that many of the Celtic countries talented youth get snapped up by the better off English clubs at a young age. I think we should be very proud that we can produce two or three talented players of our own each season who can hold their own in SPL. I'd also be prepared to wager that Mr Marsella could be planning a visit or two to Ireland when their league starts next month. And to all those who complain about the k.o. times take a look at the Irish fixture list. http://www.extratime.ie/fixtures/1 point

He surely deserves his own chant now. Commitment like this should be recognised.1 point

I am delighted with the way contract negotiations have been handled this season with the vast bulk of the squad being retained. Most particularly, in my view we had four very promising young players who all would have been in demand elsewhere in both Shinnie brothers, Billy MacKay and Aaron Doran. The fact that we have secured three out of those four for at least the next two seasons is great credit to the players themselves and the management team for persuading them to stay. Unearth a couple more gems from the bowels of the English league system and we could be in for a very successful and entertaining couple of years ahead.1 point

Yep, agree with all that's been said. On his day a real joy to watch. Now, when we sell him ( ) whatcha bet he'll be our first £1.0m player sale 2 years later... ?1 point

I think we've more chance of winning the Scottish Cup than Hibs. I think we'll win it twice before Hibs win it!1 point

Great news Doran is staying with us. I know from speaking to him he had offers from other clubs. I thought he would have been off, but it's testament to the job Terry Butcher is doing.1 point
