  2. It really looks to me as if this thread has partly degenerated into the argument that, in order to achieve a meteoric rise to the top of Scottish football, it has not been worth losing the opportunity to make a complete @rse of yourself in the Howden End on a Saturday afternoon. There is a lot more to supporting football than the rather 70s fads of swigging Scotsmac, licking stamps and a severe reluctance to admit that one's days of adolescence have long gone. Charles your intolerance of the normal football fan comes shining through yet again, long live the prawn sandwich brigade, how many matches have you paid to see recently ?

Maybe you're right, but then again maybe you just don't get it that some people's adolescent experiences were not limited to the thrills of the Scripture Union quiz night or the BB camp at Carrbridge.

  5. Just home from the match, thoroughly enjoyed the game, what a difference from the same fixture last season.. I was very impressed with our new style of play, true it has not been perfected but I would say they are getting there, would like to see a few more direct 'raids' and a few more quick shots rather than the extra pass but all in all we were effective and a much improved squad from this time last year so it augers well. I'm not going to single out players at this stage except for Ryan and Brill no comparison needed there, despite two excellent saves from Ryan Brill is the stand out keeper. An imposing figure, safe hands, directing the play and distributed the ball so much better than his rival. I enjoyed my outing to Brora and the pies weren't bad either!!!

  14. Give the bloke a chance he is by far the most knowledgeable of all the posters on this aspect It is getting very boring ( someone mentioned the boar war earlier) to keep taking the Michael out of Charles Just because someone is knowledgeable about something doesn't ensure that they can see both sides of the argument, something I feel Charles fails to do

  15. And is it not apt that the above is a page header. And adding even more fuel to my argument. It was those large numbers of who you refer to as "glory hunters" who I am counting in the lost attendees. Going my your criteria I was one of those Caley "glory hunters" due to travel commitments - alongside three regular mates (who will not watch ICT). If we use that criteria today ICT have quite a lot of "glory hunters" living in Englandshire. Another slur on the football fans who spend a lot of money on trying to support their club from afar. I agree though that journalists not paying to get into matches has become very tiring and wearisome. Media and true fans in hospitality is two completely different things and again a slur on the ordinary fan who pays well for an irregular pleasure rather than a regular freebie. And why shouldn't the media pay towards it ? In conclusion I note that the Sun are looking fer two regular big tits for their Page 3 contribution - I have e-mailed and suggested Euan Murray and Charlie Bannerman - a squirrel and a mouse.

  16. A lot of what Doofersdad says is correct. NHS Scotland does use the private sector for some services. It will use private hospitals if these can provide a service not available, or available with long waiting times, in NHS hospitals. My wife had an operation in a private hospital in Dundee simply because Perth and Dundee NHS hospitals did not have the bed or theatre space at the time. The consultant who carried out the operation worked for both entities. GP's and hospitals will also use private laboratories where there is a backlog in NHS provision. All of those services, however, are paid for from the NHS Scotland budget. If Virgin Medical come along annd offer to treat cancer patients how is this going to be paid for? From the NHS budget. The NHS is free at the point of service to all and thats how it should remain. Its not privatisation or the use of private sector services that is needed. Its a total revamp of what is provided from within. That revamp must start with getting rid of the high salaried people running our service. Many of whom have absolutely no background in the healthcare profession. We need specialists who are employed by and committed to the NHS. Not people who give half there time for high salaries whilst devoting most effort into their private healthcare provision. If a private health provider is able to provide a service whilst still able to make profit for its shareholders then NHS Scotland should be able to do exactly the same. The people, the expertise, the technology. They are all in place. Its how they are used that needs to change.

  17. Both the charities have been named in post #6 . I know...but that's not what I asked. I'd like to support the ICT fans by donating to their chosen charity, so need to know which of those 2 it is.

  18. In regard to either club getting financial backing on their own, the answer has to be be a resounding no. I saw at first hand the delaying tactics and downright hostility displayed by some Councilors and officials in its dealings with ICT over the £900k grant. It was a minor miracle that the club eventually got this funding and I have no doubt whatsoever that Caley or Thistle on its own would have had no chance of similar funding. ICT come up against considerable planning and funding challenges in its formation but theses challenges would have been many times more extreme for a single entity. In my opinion, the merger was the correct way forward and the success on and off the field is vindication of this difficult decision.

    • Kelty Hearts Training Statement
What a farce we have become, a laughing stock: Did you hear the one about the footbal team from the Highlands of Scotland that want to train at Cowdenbeath? Unfortunately, unlike our board, this is not a joke. Our board are trying to rip our identity from the Highlands and replace it with shared training at Kelty Hearts. I kid you not, this is not a drill and the clowns that run our club appear to be delighted at this coup.

    • Relegation Statement
RELEGATION STATEMENT: This could have been said ten minutes after our defeat to Hamilton three days ago. So far, this is not the news that we on Caley Thistle Online wanted to hear. Pleased that we will still function as a club, disappointed that resignations have not been offered yet. Keeping fans waiting in silence for three days is unforgivable and relationships are drifting further apart than ever before. Silence is not the way forward, we deserve better as fans.

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

    • Hamilton 2-1 Inverness CT - Play off final 1st Leg
A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.
