  1. Just shift it to the Wednesday before....if it was good enough for us to have a midweek before final last season, then I see no problem doing it this season.
  2. Tremendous effort from the ground staff and helpers (young players especially) to get the pitch playable. As said elsewhere....it was calculated that around 45,000 gallons of snow/ice/water were taken off the covers (with just buckets) before they were removed....and then all the work needed to prepare the surface itself. When you consider that there's clubs with whole teams of ground staff (we have two) and all the mod cons in terms of equipment who can't get games on, then you have to wonder how we do it....but everyone pulls together and we do. That commitment then extends to the players who you don't see standing around moaning about the far from ideal conditions, they just get out there and do their bit to try and deliver a result. Whether Yogi got the tactics right or wrong is a matter of opinion, but if offering up criticism...ask you yourself whether you would have preferred he did not react to the conditions and sent the team out to try and play their normal game on a pitch that wasn't conducive with that style of play! You might believe their was another way to have gone about things...but at least temper it with some recognition of the situation he was presented with. Yogi would be the first person to tell you that everyone is always learning in football...including himself. I'm sure a few things were learned yesterday and what's most important is how those lessons are applied should a similar scenario present itself in future.
  3. Who?! I think MacDuffer is referring to Marlon Jackson who we had on trial before Sekajja signed. Well, the boy Marlon has recently signed for Halifax Town in the conference.
  4. A game I will never forget. The Nick Ross was one of the most joyous moments as a ICT fan. Hamill getting his penalty saved was poetic justice after all his antics on the pitch.
  5. Some people seem to have forgotten that Hughes has actually signed four players for us and I think the one who hasn't featured at all in the first team squad yet could turn out the best of all. Tansey has been a brilliant move, while Horner and Sekajja were only signed for cover. Granted they weren't any good, but they were never signed with proper first team places in mind. Hughes brought Ryan Baptie to the club in the summer and I think this could well be a cunning move. Presumably he was signed with the attitude that Shinnie would be away by the end of next season, whereby Baptie would be ready for the first team. I've liked what I've seen of him so far and he could well be our first choice left-back within 18 months.
  6. BBC match report says it should have been a penalty. "Pictures revealed that Reguero had indeed clipped Watkins and he struggled to retain his balance before tumbling." No question he was clipped, but no ref is going to give a pen for the way he went down. Not a criticism of Watkins, but he took two paces before going down. Feel the contact, go to ground - no argument. Fair play to Watkins if he tried to keep playing, but plenty would have played for the contact and won the pen. No criticism - just was never going to be given as it happened. Pretty sure the penalty should be award for the offence, not based on style marks for how the victim goes down...or have I got that wrong? Of course, but the delayed reaction was unconvincing. I think Marley genuinely tried to keep playing and was unbalanced by the clip, but it looked like he realised he wasn't going to make and went down. The issue really is: If he was clipped, ref has to give a pen; if ref didn't see it as a clip, he has to give Watkins a yellow card. I'm not sure what no pen and no yellow means? It means the referee was absolutely dreadful and made the wrong decision yet again. Referees can see if there is an advantage for the team who has been disadvantaged but call the play back if not and give a foul. In this case, it would have been a penalty. Truly dreadful refereeing today as witnessed by the booking of Nick Ross. Dreadful play acting by some County players today with McIntyre and Dodds trying to get ICT players booed at every occasion.
  7. How times have changed. This time last season you'd have gone into meltdown for not winning and be calling for Hughes to be sacked!

  10. It was a year ago this weekend that we faced the Edinburgh side in the neutral venue of Edinburgh (for the 2nd year in a row). Got two players sent off, were losing in injury time, and then, well you know the rest. An absolutely incredible experience for any ICT fan who was there, and I dare say for those who weren't there as well. What are your memories of that day?
  11. Quote "Individual commitment to a group effort is what makes a team work" Vince Lombardi That better?
  12. For memories sake, I have just watched a DVD of the game this afternoon. Wonderful memories. Was shouting at TV as if it was happening all over again, and, cursing at Hamill - he really did get his come-uppance..
  13. It was an incredible match but a very slow burner which I couldn't see much of in the first half as the low sun was just hanging over the stands and getting in my eyes. After that I did not expect what happened in the next 49 minutes which is the best half of football for drama that I have seen live, the Nick Ross moment will live with me forever and I can say I was there in the bottom row right behind the goal when it happened. Extra time was one of the longest and most nerve racking half hour ever before the euphoria of winning this penalty shoot out. A great day out for all involved of an Inverness persuasion and one I and everyone else will not forget in a hurry.
  14. We really need a striker. Yes Watkins and Ross can do alright there, but we need an out and out one too. If Yogi doesn't have one for the next game I will be really pissed off. So far Yogi has hidden behind the excuse of 'great bunch of lads needs no additions' etc. Hughes has signed 3 first team players, Tansey (who was here before, and we already knew about), Horner & Sekajja (both have done little). I understand it is hard to find a striker or any player at this time but I am beginning to wonder whether Yogi can actually sign a decent player.
  15. Its a baffling one for me personally. Lets pay 3 grand in winding up fans we dont have a rivalry with? I okay then. Its like saying, i'm gona drive 100 mph to my friends house, just to tell him i have no intention of visiting. #weirdo's
  16. I thought we were a bit below par all over the pitch but I would put that down to a combination of the terrible conditions - howling wind and atrocious surface preventing our usual passing game, and the need to adapt to a new system without Billy. As for those dissing Carl Tremarco, they must have been watching a different game from me and the official Man of the Match Sponsor after all was he not named Man of the Match. Most of our good attacking moves came down his side of the pitch with some decent crosses in from the bold Carl. My hope for next week is that there is a decent surface at Partick and that our current bogey team who have been able to cope with our system with Billy up front may struggle to cope with whatever Yogi comes up with for the next phase without Billy.

  19. There has and always will be a lack of available resources at ICT. That has hampered every manager in the past and probably the future so that is that. He is usually a very honest and straight talking individual and says it as it is. I have significant admiration of that. But this was an uneasy interview. The length of it only served to highlight the falseness. If anything that is one thing that Butcher excelled in. And my frustration is that it did not happen quickly. It may have ended up unexpectedly but good managers make plans in the event of a potential problem. WE did not. There should have been a fairly structured contingency plan in place. And come on SP - you do not need to be an expert in body language to see how unusually uncomfortable Yogi was during the interview. As I have alluded to before he is high up in my admiration but he and others have clearly been too lax in this specific booboo. Let's all hope that it is an unusual and unfortunate blip and that we can still salvage what was looking like an excellent season. But adhering to the squad that we have, shuffling and not finding some kind of direct replacement fer Billy will not suffice.
  20. What an awful game. Dire stuff in the 1st half, only lit up by Watkins goal. Second half we started the better but then sat back and invited County onto us. If anything, after their equaliser, they looked the more likely to win. And I couldn't feel my feet at the end. If nothing else, today proved we need a striker by Monday. Watkins looked like a fish out of water up front, and I can't see we've anyone else who would've done better. It's going to cost us at the end of the season if we don't get someone in. It's not like we didn't know this was likely to happen. Billy was our only forward from the start of the season and we've just been very fortunate he didn't pick up any injuries.
  21. He is infectious but watch again. There was a distinct lack of conviction in what he said. He stammers quite a lot and that is not the norm - that is the diction of somebody who is not really believing what he is saying. Wjgan only made an approach 2-3 dyas ago - ah feckin ha - ? not expected ? And he totally waffles about replacing Billy. "We are looking to get one two in" but we aint got a clue who ? Of course we will support and get together but "keeping clean sheets" and "giving another 5% each" is feckin nonsense. And then he stammers more and Auldie does not push. Great closure with the "All Together Now" - but at the end of the day WE FECKED UP and we need a break and a bit of luck with a replacement. "I am intrigued" is BULLSHITT it is more a case of "WE FECKED UP". And in conclusion I hope Yogi / WE get a lucky break.
  22. It would appear that you are all missing the point. We do NOT have any out and out centre forward types in the squad. We should have been planning for an immediate straight replacement fer Wee Billy not looking at playing other players out of position. Shure Marley can fill the gap (and filling the gap is what it should be) but that would lose and waste his prowess out wide. Christie is too lightweight and Ferguson is too raw. Fortunately we have probably got enuff in the tank to beat the caravan dwellers but it is further on in the season that worries me. This feels like a wee bit of over confidence in retaining Billy crept in and then Wigun, funded by a couple of transfers out, pounced with a doubling wages and extended contract proposal. I have been a great admirer of our management regime but this was amateur. I also evidently sincerely hope that Yogi pulls one out of the bag but that is now resting in the land of Luck and not in the Land of Anticipation and readiness as it should have been.

Okay, I'll play 'devil's advocate' here. Perhaps it could be viewed that it's Billy who's being the mercenary here and chasing the money in going to an unfashionable club in a dreary town whose sporting significance is their rugby league team - whose football manager may also not be there in the near future - and a club who are clearly on a downward spiral after some remarkable recent success, with little-to-zero prospect of those days returning any time soon...or winning silverware. Billy could, next season, find himself back at the level he was at before he came to us....He can do better! Whereas, Shinnie has arguably shown more ambition by turning-down considerably more lucrative offers down south and moved to club who are clearly on the rise and challenging for honours. They've got their key players signed up for the next few seasons and have a shrewd manager who's got Dons fans more optimistic than they've been for 20 years. Sorry, but Aberdeen FC are a bigger club than Wigan Athletic.

Why the very different attitude to Graeme Shinnie who served the club as well and for longer and who is at least staying until the end of the season ? 1: He's isn't moving to one of our rivals. 2: He's showing a bit of ambition and testing himself at a higher level 3: He's helping the cub financially by not signing a PC. Pretty obvious don't you think! It might be obvious why some people are having a go at Graeme but that doesn't make the difference in attitude fair. 1. Of course we would all rather he didn't go to one of our rivals but there is absolutely no reason why he shouldn't. He's from Aberdeen and it is perfectly reasonable that for family reasons he should want to move to his home town. Or if it is simply because they are offering him more money, why should he not take it? 2. Who says he's not showing ambition? Do you know what his ambitions are? His ambition may be to play in European competition and to lift national titles. He has more chance of realising those ambitions at Aberdeen than he does by staying put and certainly far more chance of acheiving that than Billy will at Wigan. And how do you know he does not have ambition to test himself in the English league? He is still young and success at Aberdeen would put him in a good position for a higher profile move down South at a later date. 3. How do you know that it is Graeme's choice to sign a PC rather than go now with a transfer fee? It may be that the club is refusing to release him from his contract because it would strengthen a rival team this year, or Aberdeen may not be prepared to pay an appropriate fee. Both Graeme and Billy have been great players for the club, so why on earth can we not acknowledge their contribution to the clubs success, thank them for it and let them pursue their careers with our best wishes?
