  1. Agree to a large extent with almost every post above ... which seems paradoxical maybe. However, Yogi's reign at Inverness was paradoxical ... on the one hand unprecedented cup/league/Europe milestones/achievements etc probably never to be repeated, often attractive passing football ... on the other hand petty fall-outs/benching fans' favourites, stubborn refusal to change approach, sideways tippy/tappy when having off-days, dodgy/unbalanced player recruitment. The interview was strangely much the same ... plenty has been said of the negative above (which I agree is disappointing) ... but there was also positive ... he said he loved his time up here, "great bunch of lads" (should be his epitaph lol), acknowledged budget restraints were real, the Scottish Cup winning day was his happiest (or joint) in football and, notably post-departure, he jumped off his sofa in celebration hearing Meekings' winner go in on Saturday. Over the piece, the positive times shared with Yogi far outweighed the negative times and that is good to hold onto.
  2. And what exactly were Yogis ideas and innovations at Inverness? I appreciate the continental passing drills and the possession football were a novelty for the club, but taking other managers methods and implementing them isn't innovative, it's just copying! When one note Joe plays stairway to heaven on his guitar in the High Street, he isn't being creative, he's simply playing somebody else's tune. Innovation is when you stop following a script and solve problems using your own initiative. When performances dipped last season (new players struggling to perform the roles of old players, opponents adapting to stifle us etc) rather than change the system he stuck to the script and barely changed a thing. One note Joe indeed. I still think Yogi's contribution to the club was a massive net positive overall FWIW, but he'd reached the point of diminishing returns and it was time for both parties to move on.
  3. I don't think it's bitter at all - just honest. And I always had the impression that JH was an honest guy. I suspect it'll be many years before ICT reach the heights that he took us to and I'll always remember him for those achievements - undoubtedly our best manager so far! And didn't he achieve his highest finish in Scottish football when he was with us? For a while ICT was good for John Hughes and John Hughes was good for ICT. Don't forget that!
  4. The first part of that sentence sums up what I said about him when he was here and I formed that opinion after meeting him and listening to his interviews .... the second part, mirrors what I have thought since he left and his comments in the press immediately preceding that. There is no doubting that John Hughes was a successful manager for ICT the stats do back that up totally. The debate over best or not can be argued either way and I am not interested in having that debate as all managers brought something to the table .... but there is no argument that he will forever be in our history as the manager who won the cup and who took us into Europe in much the same way as Robbo took us to the SPL or as Pele took us from D3 to D1 and masterminded our cup heroics over the likes of Celtic and Hearts when we truly were still a wee team from the highlands. I am not going to get all bitter that he left although I am disappointed in the manner of his departure and talking with fans of other teams where he has been manager there does seem to be a pattern of being successful for a short while then conflict with the respective club then a departure. Is it that he is just TOO ambitious for the 'smaller clubs' where he has been manager and has come up against their constraints, or is it something else? I don't know, I am not a psychologist, therapist or any other kind of -ist but I do know that our chairman is a reasonable man and the club in general are not afraid to back the manager outside of our financial comfort zone when they are able - just look at the cash they threw at TB to get us back to the SPL after relegation. What I do find utterly classless are his comments about Richie Foran and I hope that the reporting and quotes are out of context to what he actually meant or the entirety of his statements. Regardless of what he thinks of Foran as a person, or his ability as a manager, you dont throw them under the bus like that in public. Richie has completed his badges - he must have otherwise he could not be our manager in the top division as per UEFA rules - and despite the poor start to the season with a 'rookie' manager, he WILL come good. To go along with the coaching badges and everything he has learned as a player, he also has passion, commitment and a love for the area and ICT, so its just a case of it all falling into place (i hope). It'll be a rocky ride this year I think, but perseverance will be worth it.
  5. Why do folk continue to be rattled by Yogi? Who cares? He's gone, move on, the club have.
  6. ...and struggling to find one.
  7. How does anyone become a coach anyway, by doing the badges (which we all know Richies done) and then getting actual hands on experience. Hows anyone meant to get that without actually doing the job! Way I see it is, if Yogi managed it, and managed it for 14 years+, anyone can!!
  8. Hope we tell Aberdeen that Tansey as a clause in his contract to sell him for £500,000, let Aberdeen bid that much for him then tell them to f'ck off just to wind them up.
  9. I'd be surprised if Tansey isn't an Aberdeen player by next summer but a lot of folk have always said the player they really need is a Draper character. A big horrible b@st@rd in the middle of the pitch to just destroy everything. I'd rather lose Tansey than Draper especially right now.
  10. Must admit I didn't realise just how bad a record Saint Johnstone had up in Inverness. I guess our record in Perth must be clouding my judgement. Regardless, it was a much improved performance compared to recent weeks and the players looked much more like a team and were showing what they can be capable of. Players like Tansey, who has been below par for a number of months now, had a really good game and Horner, in for the benched Raven, did fine at Rb despite a couple of early wobbles. Fisher justified his selection ahead of Boden as he won a number of high balls although his finishing was still a bit poor but he was a handful for the Saint Johnstone centre backs throughout the game. man of the Match for me was Draper who yet again took the game by the scruff of the neck and really get the ball down and drive at the Saints defence more often than not drawing a foul. He may not have the guile of someone like Andrew Shinnie but he is an immensely powerful attacking force to drive you forward and he's been the only real highlight for ICT so far this season. I thought both teams were quite well matched in the first half. We had more of the ball and probably had more chances overall but Saints also had a couple of good opportunities to grab a goal. After a good save by Mannus from a Draper header Fisher passed up a couple of glorious chances, including one from a sublime chipped pass from Vigurs, before King ended a lovely ICT move by flashing a shot wide of goal. Saints has good chances too with Kane blasting over after good work by Swanson down the Inverness right flank and the same player chipped in a wonderful ball for Maclean but it just eluded him and drifted wide. Opening goal was a brilliant free kick whipped in by Tansey putting the keeper under real pressure and, as alluded to elsewhere, was quite similar to the goal that Falkirk scored against us in the Scottish Cup Final, with Draper rising above Davidson to power the ball into the net. Really good goal. Not long after this Davidson met a cross with a glancing header that just sailed wide of the home goal but Saints did pull level when ICT struggled to clear their lines and Maclean won a header and laid it off to Foster who had been let go by King and the former County man rifled in a cracking equaliser. A good strike but disappointing to concede after a momentary loss of concentration. Draper nearly put us back ahead when another header on goal was this time saved by Mannus who was having a storming game but we got a deserved winner after chaotic scenes in the penalty area. Warren, Meekings, Boden all tried to poke the ball home from close range before Meekings squeezed it in at the post to bag the three points. Mulraney should have made the game safe when he burst through one on one with Mannus but he skewed his shot well wide of the goal. Certainly a deserved win. not quite perfect but a marked improvement from recent games. Good on Foran for dropping players who have under performed recently. Nothing against Raven but he hasn't been playing well recently and Horner did fine stepping in at RB. Doumbouya looked a handful when he came on. Not very quick but good at holding the ball up and linking with team mates. Good be an asset but he isn't very different from Fisher or Boden. A nippy striker might be useful to have however I suspect we'll be strengthening the defence over getting another forward in. Foran has said we should have two new faces before the wind shuts. Will be interesting to see what is lined up.
  11. Great moment ... loved the bit where Gary Warren then briefly sat on concrete wall a bit like Strachan celebrating versus West Germany in 86.
  12. I got more enjoyment and entertainment in 90 minutes today than all of last season. Excellent performance, and boy could you see how much it meant to the manager and the players at the end. Great all round performance.
  13. there were no negatives today. Simply plusses all over the park and in the stands. Great day, great win
  14. A good win over Tommy Wright. No doubt he had done his homework on us but his revision papers were a week out of date. First half we did enough to win 10 games with a real gutsy performance. all players won their battles even OFW was getting stuck in. Their goalie kept them in the match. First 45 mins you just couldn't pick the motm it was so close nor could you leave a player out of contention. We permitted them to have a little more ball time in the second half with wasted long balls to no one and let them back into the game for an undeserved point. The gaffer had other ideas so brought on 2 strikers and the road runner. meep meep and finished the match off with a fine victory and a good game of football. Wear the Pride of the Highlands with pride, you guys earned your badge today.
  15. Well deserved 3 points in the end. Raw, unbridled passion from players and fans when the ping-pong scrambled injury time winner went in. Awesome. Felt like winning a cup semi/final. Hopefully this kickstarts our season.
  16. There's nothing better than an injury time winner, especially after a run of 4 bad defeats! Well done to the players and manager. It's good to see us move up to, erm, bottom place in the league, but well within sight of mid table.
  17. Absolutely. It's just like when I have an issue with my Internet connection, I put a post up in an unofficial forum and expect BT to get in touch, when they don't I get all upset and repeat my complaint ad nauseum. I certainly wouldn't contact BT directly to try and resolve it, that would be ridiculous.
  18. no wonder - look at the size o him!!
  19. The fact is that JH is now part of our past and, due to his own actions, a somewhat tarnished part of our past at that. We now have a new manager who is admittedly inexperienced but is learning all the time, who is happy to listen to and respect the views of senior players. I suspect that Yogi would have regarded the recent players meeting as dissent rather than as a positive thing as Richie clearly does. A manager who is happy to be here, who has a good relationship with the board and chairman, who does not leave out key players out of petty revenge and who is content with his budget which is the maximum we can afford and is not to stubborn to change things when they are clearly not working. ICT and Richie Foran have a bright future in the game. I doubt that the same can be said for John Hughes.
  20. Pretty classless from Hughes to be honest, not that I'm surprised anymore. Absolutely no issue with what he was trying to do regarding keeping our better players but perhaps a more proactive approach in getting contracts handed out would help. His style of football, when it was working, was good to watch, he really took a lot of the players up another level and he achieved some incredible stuff with ICT but poor moves in the transfer market, assembling a shockingly unbalanced team, refusal to change his style of play when it clearly wasn't working and falling out with a number of players and other off field staff meant his time had come As a Falkirk fan said on P & B he's a lot smarter than people think but he's nowhere near as smart as he thinks he is. Comments like those in that interview probably reflect that.
  21. Hughes comes across as a pompous pr!ck regarding the comments with Richie Foran. Think in the long run, Kenny Cameron done the right thing getting shot of him.

Pointless having a fans forum then

Thanks for your opinion RIG but as I have already said, I will ask the question at the next AGM. That will give the attending shareholders the opportunity to comment on why our badge has been changed..

More to do with my time. They could have simply answered the 2 simple questions on this forum.
