  1. If it was just struggles on the park, then I'd be right there with you! My worry is that if we allow deeply ingrained problems, with team and club management, to be swept under the carpet every time there's a good result then we will just keep spiralling. That isn't to say we shouldn't have hope, and I'm definitely not calling for booing of players, but Dodds, Robertson, Gardiner, Morrison etc. need to be held to account as they have delivered NOTHING, not even close, to anything they said they would. Quite the opposite in fact. That's not grounds for optimism.

  3. Thought Hyde grew into the game really well, and Welsh had some important tackles that we've been missing without Allardice! That Henderson ball to Doran for Billy's 3rd goal looked like something De Bruyne could come out with!! Looks a really promising player for sure

  4. First game in a long time for me and was blown away by the commitment and determination from the team. In first 20 we could have scored 2 or 3 - Billy’s hit the post, Lewis Hyde should have scored as well. Defensively we looked very nervous and I include the keeper on that - in particular corners were a major concern. the difference came when we got the second goal we didn’t sit back we kept pressurising them into mistakes and Cove certainly helped in that department. Having the spine of the team with so much experience is brilliant - we really need Danny D to marshal the defence and develop these young lads. Hyde and Welsh give a bit of stability in the centre and with Dan McKay and the loanee winger giving loads of pace, we looked pretty potent going forward. we’ve deserved a bit of luck and we certainly got it on Saturday.

  5. I think we deserve to be optimistic after that result - even we only scored four of the six goals. A win certainly adds some much needed joy from the recent dross. A win like can have a remarkable effect on motivation so who knows what will happen. Time will tell.

  6. Very true. Hopefully after this 6-1 win we'll go on a run of 11 games without defeat.

  7. Billy’s hat trick: look at the ground he made up to be on the spot to turn his third in after it came back off the post from Doran’s header: and Danny’s goal: It’s a pity they’ve not put the own goals on line. I’d like to see them again, particularly the second one. It was a good laugh at the time!

  8. I thought Welsh had his best game for some time, pulling the strings in midfield. Hyde has worried me recently but I thought he also had his best game. I think his half at right back against Partick earlier in the season set his development back, but he is hopefully on track now. It will be interesting whether we keep Carson at right back on Saturday with Duffy back or whether he moves into midfield with Welsh. Oh to have Allardice back though. We’ve missed his calm solidity.

  9. Nice one, I hope you’ve got some more in storr for us in 2023.

  10. I didn’t say that. I was merely pointing out that we have come from behind previously when the odds were against us. As I’ve said several times since full time, the jury is out for me. We will have a better feel for things after the Arbroath game and we then have Queens Park. The attitude of the players was very good yesterday and seeing the Courier piece about Ridgers is another hopeful sign. Time will tell!

  11. A Cove fan I know who was at the game said beforehand that McIntyre’s future depended on the game and the expectation was that Hartley would be back. Cove were poor, particularly in the second half, but our attitude was excellent. We had much more intent about making chances and trying to take them than I have seen in recent weeks. One game is not enough to judge on though. Saturday is another important one and we can take a better view after it.

  12. When we pipped Dundee to win promotion last time, how far behind were we on 1 January? I respect your views, and those of others on here, but I just can’t see us making a change with the current financial and contractual situation. I will continue to give my support to all the players and, who knows, maybe we have turned a corner.

  14. Is Dodds the Man 4 the Job Cove first foot the Caledonian Stadium on 2nd January with many fans questioning whether Billy Dodds should still be in charge as we head into 2023 in a massive slump and slide towards the bottom end of the table. Yes there has been an incredible amount of injuries to contend with, but the majority of the support are questioning his ability to turn things around. It can't be an easy task trying to run a team on a shoestring but it's the nature of the beast, and has been for some time. Money does not affect the style of play though and that is a major concern with many citing the current team as one of the worst since we joined the leagues back in 1994. Has he lost the dressing room? The feud with Ridgers? He was removed at half time against Morton. What now for Cammy Mackay who shipped five at Partick? For Dodds' sake, I hope we can get a few players back as soon as possible, otherwise his position will become untenable, a word that is usually followed by news of a new manager. And what of Robbo? Is that a burden the club can do without? Come to think of it, maybe a complete clear out is the only answer. Hamilton Ac. 6 0 1 5 7 17 0 1 1 6 7 0 0 4 1 10 -10 1 We opened our home League games with a 4 - 1 win over newly promoted Cove Rangers back in the middle of August. Austin Powers: Man of Mystery Goals: Austin Samuels scored twice as Inverness registered their first win of the Championship this season. Aaron Doran and substitute Nathan Shaw opened their accounts with Robbie Leitch tapping in for Cove just after the interval. An ultimately comfortable win for the hosts that bumps them up the table into second spot behind Dundee. Sadly we have been found out since then and are now just two points above Cove in 7th place on 23 points. We also surprisingly beat them 1 - 0 at Balmoral Park against the run of play as we started to struggle with injuries but still picked up points somehow. Cove kept at Bay: Our first visit to Balmoral Park on League business ended with a hard fought win, our fifth on the bounce. Inverness opened the scoring after twenty minutes through Steven Boyd, his first of the season. However Roddy MacGregor was helped off the pitch after being injured in the build up to that goal. Allardice stayed in the dressing room at the interval to be replaced by Lewis Hyde. Ridgers did well to deny Cove after the break and right at the end Cove were reduced to ten men as McIntosh was sent off. Still joint top as Partick also win with Dundee and Morton leading the chasing pack. That win at Balmoral left us joint top with Partick on 20 points. Dundee were three points further back but they now top the table on 34 points. Pos Team Pld W D L F A Pts Current table at the end of 2022 1. Dundee 18 10 4 4 30 20 34 2. 17. Thanks Satan, keeping the pantomime theme going, I seem to be being cast by some in the role of a happy clapper villain, which I definitely am not. I am a realist about the club’s financial position and therefore the (lack of) options at this time. Anyway, I’m bowing out of this thread as I’ve had my say.

  18. Where on earth did that come from? Caught the end of the first half and all of the second on a stream. Great to see us moving the ball well and fighting to get it back when we lost possession. Hopefully we will build on this and get back oup the table.

  20. The benchmark is not a relegation fodder Arbroath or even the QP team who may be top but realistically its Dundee, PT, Ayr that we need to be competing and beating and recent form shows we are well off the pace. Remember we still have the same team and line up that our manager said was ***** after the PT drubbing.

  24. I wasn't at the game, but from what I've heard it was more a case of Cove being really poor than us playing well. Cove have just sacked JM on the back of the game.

  25. From the Inverness Courier Head coach Billy Dodds felt it wasn't fair to keep Cammy Mackay as first choice goalkeeper as Mark Ridgers returned to the starting line-up, "Mark has been a model professional, because he knew I wasn't happy.... I didn't think it was fair on Cameron Mackay to keep losing goals when we had young lads in the back, [Mark] came in and had some great saves, but it was his calming influence. I am lucky I have two good goalkeepers, but it was time to put in experience" Looks like the manager/player relationship has been put back on track, which is always a positive thing, especially in a small squad. 6-1 might be a fluke result or not, although it sounds like we deserved the win, but hopefully a turning point, the new guy Henderson on the wing sounds promising [I can't believe we also had Shaw and Harper out injured], if we can add to the squad again, and maybe see Samuels and Allardice back soon... anything could happen [although we will need to beat Queens Park twice I reckon to get a sniff of the top place, if we do go on a decent run] Anyway Happy New Year!

  26. A result and performance like the good old days..... Thought Dodds might have mentioned Ridgers as part of the experienced players key to the result....Duffy should be back this Saturday as hopefully will be Harper so potentially a slightly stronger squad for Arbroath although the younger lads were certainly very active and enthusiastic .

  28. Return of Ridgers and Devine making a big difference with their experience. Hopefully this is a corner turned. Regardless of other injuries a spine of Ridgers, Devine, Welsh and Mckay is very strong for the Championship. If they are fit there should be no excuses for seeing any more of the insipid performances we've seen recently.

  29. My first game since before Covid. And what a game to return on! We made a decent start but you could see Cove coming back into it and the goal from a corner was looking inevitable as we looked so poor defending them. But I thought we always looked quite fluent going forward today and turned it around for 3-1 at HT. The second half was fun but I thought Billy Aaron were outstanding linking together and showing their quality and experience. The gap to Queens Park at the top is 10pts so not completely gone but hard but only 4pts back to the play offs. One win doesn’t mean it’s all rosey in the garden but still plenty to look forward too if this is a beginning of something.

  33. It doesn't always work that way. Remember that last season we we also had a crushing 6-1 win when we beat Morton away in December. We then went on a dreadful run of 11 league games without a win.
