  1. Here's an idea, how about coming up with a new project title? If it was now called the TESCO Battery Energy Storage Facility, it would sail through all the planning committee stages would it not?

  2. When you see the amount of times Dunfermline hit the woodwork, we can't complain about taking a point on the road. I only listened to the match on the radio, but it sounded like the classic 'game of two halfs'. It sounds like we played some nice passing entertaining football, but, just as in previous seasons, we seem to be shot shy, and pass when just maybe having a speculative punt might have been a better option, in a day when the weather made the ball slippy and difficult for keeper and defenders. It was nice to see Welsh named in the squad, and coming on late, but as DF said, if Sean is going to get back into the team, he is going to have to play well and try and dislodge Gilmore and Anderson, which will be no mean feat as both are playing so well together. And I can relate to DF saying he wears the same clothes that he did on his first game with us, and superstition keeps him wearing it as we are still undefeated. I did the same in Inverness Thistle's 1986/87 Highland League title win, and the only time I never wore the same shirt, it was in the wash, we lost our only game of the season, our last game against Peterhead! So long may we continue to see DF standing in his jumper and shirt, because it will mean we are still undefeated!

  4. What a weird game. We looked comfortable for 20 minutes and then the Pars absolutely murdered us for 25 minutes which coincided with all the incidents which earned the goalposts the MoM. A back 3 of Boyes, Devine and Ujdur looks a good setup. Devine had some great challenges and if Ujdur wasn’t so overconfident of being a baller then he would be one. Second half was completely dominated by us but it was if the players had a bet on 0-1 and thought we could keep the ball for the full 45 minutes which nearly worked. We are incredibly shot-shy. The stats show we had 5 shots to their 12, but we had so many touches in their box, it was as if we were trying to emulate Spain from 10 years ago and score the perfect goal. On a wet day it would have been worth a go from 20 yards, but so many times Cammy, Nathan, Spoony or Gilmour decided to check back. Not sure why Ujdur was subbed for Duffy as I’m sure that lost us a bit of solidity and he was booked straight away. Billy was knackered but sub Longstaff never really offered an out ball, although he nearly won it with a late drive which would have given Mehmet no chance if it was a couple of feet lower. Great to see Sir Sean Welsh returning. The passing was sublime at times today and Max Anderson is a player. Great support today

  5. I'll be disappointed if we don't put out our best available squad. We're nowhere near strong enough to be underestimating any team, and the more time our starting 11 get playing together, the sharper they'll get.

  6. Really entertaining game with a lot of good football on show - hard to believe it was a match between 2 sides not in the playoff places. It’s always disappointing to concede a late equaliser and it makes you feel like it was 2 points dropped, but in reality you can’t begrudge Dunfermline a point given the number of chances they had, hitting the post 7 times and missing a couple of free headers too. They could easily have won, but on the whole I still thought we played the better football, and had some good chances too. I was impressed with our play, good passing football on the deck, some classy moments, keeping possession and being patient in the build up. Some will say too patient, with numerous calls of “shoot” when we were passing in and around their box waiting for a clearer opportunity, but I think it is a sign of a good side that we can play that way. On this showing, I am very confident that we will continue moving up the league table.

  7. We are being told that if this development goes ahead, it will secure the long term financial stability of the club. Frankly, I haven't a clue how this will generate the amount of money which would achieve that. I get that the land is owned by one of the Directors of the Club (or one of his companies), but can anyone explain how much money this is projected to generate for the club and what exactly it is for? There must be more to it than a bit of rent for site.

  8. I see our CEO has been quoted in the "Courier" as referring to the development as a "Battery Farm". I trust he is aware it is for a Battery Energy Storage Facility and not a Battery Farm with Big Sheds full of hens. That really would be putting all our eggs in one basket.

  9. Talking bout a revolution A trip to Dunfermline beckons this Saturday as Dunc's revolution picks up pace. Unbeaten since his arrival, the Caley Jags take on 5th place Dunfermline Athletic in another tough encounter. A win for Inverness would see Dunc's men climb above the Pars but it's big ask. This will be your only Championship fix this weekend, so the opportunity is there for one of these sides to make up some ground on those above them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Match/Ticket/Info Supporters Bus Full Cowdenbeath Cup Tie Battery Farm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Venue H2H Pld Won Drn Lst For Agst + / - Home 24 10 9 5 31 22 +9 Away 24 9 10 5 29 26 +3 Neutral 2 0 1 1 3 4 -1 Total 50 19 20 11 63 52 +11 Our home and away encounters with the Pars show similar statistics with only five defeats at East End Park. Steven Lawless levelled from the spot in the second half with ten minutes remaining after David Carson was adjudged to have blocked a cross with a flailing arm. Another drab performance after a first half full of promise. No surprise really given recent performances, but frustrating nonetheless. A very disappointing second half from Inverness after a first half that was full of promise. Maybe Danny Devine going off injured just before the interval decided our tactic for the second half, or maybe Dunfermline just realised they could get something from the game. That point lifts them off the foot of the table for now, our point puts us in second position when we really should have been knocking on Arbroaths door at the top. Whatever the reason, the fans are getting somewhat disgruntled as we are without a win in five games now. It does seem like a long time ago that we absolutely thrashed Morton 6-1 on 11th December. Only four points from our last five games, or four points from a possible fifteen. That's not the form of a team going for promotion. Sort it! David Wotherspoon scored twice and Billy Mckay crashed in a penalty in a dominant first half. The second half was an anti-climax with Ayr scoring a penalty of their own through Jamie Murphy. The points were more important than the performance and it pulled Inverness clear of the bottom team Morton. Last Five Games: W D W D W In the first meeting between the clubs this season it ended all square in the Highlands in September. Nathan Shaw's early goal cancelled out ten minutes before the end by a Chris Hamilton header. FULL TIME: 1-1 The two new loan payers aquitted themselves well without setting the pulses racing. The defence did appear to be more rigid although we were found wanting at the equaliser. Nathan Shaw was the most likely to cause problems and so it proved. Poor decision by Ridgers to decide to flap at thin air for the goal but made amends to earn our point with a tremendous save later. Pars were much more direct than us and you couldn't grudge them their point. However that point still leaves us floundering at the foot of the table with one point from a possible twelve. Dunfermline's last game saw them go down narrowly to a late goal from Chris Mochrie as Dundee United continued unbeaten at the top of the table. United lead in the first half through Fotheringham before Owen Moffat levelled the game ten minutes after the interval. Mochrie hit the winner with just five minutes left on the clock. 10. I understand the thinking but for me a team of MacKay, Davidson, Duffy, Delaney, Hyde, Thompson, Bray, Welsh, Longstaff, Brooks and Sheridan should comfortably take care of Cowdenbeath and give these players some much needed game time. At least some are likely to be needed/called upon prior to the New Year as the fixtures come thick and fast and we inevitably pick up injuries etc.

  11. Danny Devine had a very impressive game today capped off by his nicely taken goal and potential goal-saving tackle early on. Even still, the standout performer today in my opinion was Max Anderson. He was constantly in and about the Dunfermline players robbing them of possession, frequently on the ball, never wasted a pass and drove us forward when he had the opportunity to do so. I thought it was an excellent all round performance from him and the partnership he has struck up with Charlie Gilmour has been instrumental in our possession based football in recent weeks which has been highly impressive, especially considering we could hardly string three passes together earlier this season. Losing a late goal was pretty gutting especially as I was looking forward to Big Dunc celebrating with the fans again but as others have said it's hard to argue that Dunfermline deserved at least a point today. I'm sure a lot of the fringe players will get a run out next week against Cowdenbeath and rightly so given we have been more or less reliant on the same starting 11 week after week so let's hope they have a well earned rest and are ready to go again against Raith in a couple of weeks.

  12. According to he chairman at the fans meeting, they have agreed for the car parks at the stadium to be used by ILI for the red john project. But instead of the club getting the money for the rental of the car parks ILI are doing the planning application for the club for this battery farm. well that was my understanding. At the meeting he said that the club owned the land, but when challenged that it was in fact David Cameron and David Sutherland that owned the land, he then sad that there was a lease in place. Not quite sure how that then equates to the club getting a seven figure sum should planning go through. Do they then get a rental figure from the company who would run the battery farm, who knows!!!!! Then there is the planning itself, which was always going to be difficult to get through as its on land that was designated as an area where no development could take place. The battery storage facility is also very close to a built up area. The chairman had said that was not an issue as ILI had got lots of these planning permissions through but, these permissions were a lot further away. In one objection it was quoted that the battery farm would only be 30m away where battery farms that had got planning granted were over 250m away! I really hope this is not yet another pipe dream by the club of making big money away from the football. But after the concert fiasco followed by the freeport lie, my trust in the board of directors and the CEO is not very high.

  13. Devine made a first class tackle early in the first half to deny Dunfermline. Throughout the game he was calm on each of the seven times Dunfermline hit our woodwork. He popped up with our goal. Actually joking about Dunfermline hitting the woodwork seven times - but it was even funnier watching it live. In many ways this was a very lucky point but as we improve hopefully we beat Dunfermline next time around. Great to see Sean back on the park.

  14. I think if we are being honest a draw was a fair result given they hit the upright or cross bar seven times. I only listened to the game on the radio and it seemed we had the better of the second half whilst the hosts had the first. More imortantly is the fact we are playing attractive football and getting better each week under big Dunc. 3 wins and 3 draws a game in hand and now 7th,at least we are going in the right direction and have our tails up.

  16. Wood you believe it? Big Dunc was looking to remain unbeaten in six, but Inverness were without half a dozen long term injured players including more recent casualties, Jake Davidson, Austin Samuels and Aaron Doran. Captain Sean Welsh was on the bench after a recent back injury. Dunfermline have their own long term absentees but had Deniz Mehmet back between the sticks after his head knock last week and Machael O'Halloran was fit enough to make the bench, with Alex Jakubiak and Craig Wighton as strong back-ups. Best early moments saw Dunfermline hit the post four times inside a couple of minutes but fortune favoured the visitors. Make that six hits on the Inverness woodwork, but Danny Devine showed them all how to hit the net two minutes before the break as tempers flared at the end of the half. More woodwork in the second half and Dunfermline salvaged a point with three minutes left through McCann...... in off the post! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Floodlights on from the start as the visitors set the ball rolling at 15:00 on a rather grey day. First corner of the game to the Pars but it came to nothing as did the Caley Jags' first corner minutes later. Lewis McCann had the first serious attempt but his header was poor and it bounced into the ground without troubling Ridgers. Nathan Shaw was blocked at one and immediately Danny Devine thwarted Matty Todd at the other end as he tried to break through on goal. Owen Moffat dipped a shot over after twenty minutes with Ridgers watching closely. The Pars hit both posts when McCann turned and shot and the ball bounced perilously close to the line before being cleared after hitting the other post. Moments later Hosler slid in and hit the post once more and the rebound came off Devine to hit the post again. After an Inverness corner, Billy Mckay had a low effort blocked in a crowded box. Ridgers saved from Ritchie-Hosler, then on the half hour Cammy Harper missed what is generally described as an open goal at the back post after a Mckay sclaff found it's way to him but he sliced wide. Wood you believe it! Incredibly the Pars hit the woodwork another twice after Morgan Boyes played a loose pass back. McCann hit the inside of the post then Moffat's effort came off the bar from the rebound. From another home corner a Boyes header went agonisingly close to opening the scoring. Danny Devine showed his strikers how to do it a couple of minutes before half time as he drilled into the net. Amazingly, the visitors made it to the interval without conceding, the posts, however, were battered and bruised as were Gilmour, Harper, Chalmers and Hamilton after a clash with yellow cards dished out in a frantic ending to the half. HALF TIME: 0-1 If anything the rain was heavier as the second half kicked off with no alterations to either side and Inverness making some early headway to no avail. Harper fired a cross into the box which David Wotherspoon almost connected properly with but it went wide. Touch wood, but it was a much more positive start to the second half for the visitors. Harper did well to clear away a dangerous McCann cross with substitute Jakubiak lurking with intent. Inverness survived another cafuffle in the box involving Jakubiak again and minutes later he was looking for a penalty under a Devine intervention. A seventh strike off the woodwork saved the visitors again from a thunderous Otoo effort from distance. Lewis McCann levelled the game with three minutes left. Unfortunately the post helped the Pars this time as McCann's effort went in via the post. FULL TIME: 1-1 An incredible game with Woodwork named as MotM with seven tremendous saves and one assist at the end as the Pars got the reward their endeavour deserved. Great finish from Danny Devine for the opening goal, scoring like a Pro. Nobody could grudge Dunfermline their leveller although it came at a time when we looked most comfortable and likely to see out the game for all three points. It's a funny olde game as they used to say. 17. Disappointed we couldn’t hang on for the 3 points but also relieved to come away with the 1 after so many of their attempts hit the post. Prior to Big Dunc’s arrival I wouldn’t have had any hope of getting a result there. So the unbeaten run continues and I’m getting the feeling the best is yet to come.
