Hi guys i am not an Inverness Caledonian Thistle fan, but i really admire your team. I'm a Celtic man and i just wanted to come and say how impressed i've been by the ICT squad this season. Your team have been fantastic adverts for how teams in Scotland can flourish if they have enough drive and ambition. With the budget Terry has been working with and the results he's brought to your club, i think you would all agree it's been a fantastic season for you all :P. Only thing that could have made it sweeter i guess would have been a cup win. Anyway i think i've said what i wanted to say. I wish your club all the best on the push for second spot and i truly do hope you guys get it, it is definitely a deserved achievement if you guys get there. All the best for the future folks. :) Vinnie3 points

St Mirren to vote against proposal to change league structure http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22063775 Well done Saints having the bottle to join RC and oppose these absurd proposals. Fans throughout Scotland already showing their relief common sense has been applied.2 points

With due respect Caley D, absolute tosh. Put aside selfish self interest and self preservation and all these things could be achieved without the rest of the nonsense. The only thing stopping it is pure greed and if ICT found itself outside the self serving clique of the SPL I am sure we would be singing a different tune.2 points

What is essential is one league body, a change in the voting system, playoffs and a filtering down of a proportion of TV and sponsorship income. All that could be achieved without this ludicrous contrived 'middle eight' business. If it is such an attractive arrangement why have the only leagues in the world to have experimented with it long since abandoned it ? Well done St Mirren and County. I hope we have the bottle to follow suit.2 points

I am apolitical .... I believe politicians of all stripes will screw you no matter what, and I have little time for any of them. For me, Thatcher was a study in contrasts, and a woman who dealt in black/white not shades of grey ... She gave me the right - as a low paid grunt - to buy my council house, a measure that still had (positive) ripples just a few years ago when I used the equity I had built up to buy property over here, so for that opportunity, I am grateful. Yet she also forced the poll tax on me because I lived in Scotland rather than England and for that I could never forgive her .... she screwed around with my student grant, but when working she lowered my (direct) taxation .... yet more contrasts. As for unions ... I do believe they needed to be reigned in. Certain unions could bring the country to a standstill if a boss looked at someone the wrong way ... but again, another contrast, I believe she went way too far in removing what should be basic rights of employees to strike over legitimate issues. From the point of view of watching the coverage of her death on the news over here, it is quite clear that she was a true world leader. One of the (tory) politicians that commented noted how she ruled what was then the G7 with an iron fist ... the likes of Mitterand, Reagan, and Canadian PM Mulrooney (all essentially tories too) were in awe of her, yet here to is a contrast where she embraced leaders who we now know to be dictators or heads of oppresive regimes such as Saddam Hussein, yet called future leaders (like Nelson Mandela) terrorists. I will not be getting all sentimental and mourning her passing, but I will certainly not be dancing on her grave either .... or worse still, making comments like one extreme left winger did on Twitter in noting he was "sorry she died, but even sorrier she was born in the first place"1 point

Let's just wait and see what the SPL computer decides! It's maybe a Commodore 64 so give them time!1 point

Next time someone invades our territory I think we should just ask them politely to leave - and if they don't, that's fine too, because I wouldn't want to upset anyone.1 point

Although one has to have some respect for a great parliamentarian like Margaret Thatcher, I feel that David Cameron was well over the top waxing lyrical on TV last night. Somewhat hypocrital too. No mention it was the Tory party that gave her the boot from office. Do you remember the farcical ballot for leadership of the Conservatives, Michael Heseltine thretening to fight against her, meetings in smoke filled rooms to rig the election in favour of John Major. margaret Thatcher crying as she left Downing Street. The Falklands conflict , the whole United Nations condemmed it, France sold misiles to the Argentine , Americal tried to it's best to pusude her stop it. Agentine battleship topeadoed without warning , Nicola Sturgeon would have a field day on her upside down doll squeak of "illegal wars", she uses as an excuse for independence. She shuld remember both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown were born in Scotland. Do you remember the Poll tax ? True you would expect David Cameron to make the most out of the demise of Margaret Thatcher , but the truth is she was no saint.1 point

Her government made many mistakes and had some terrible policies but she was a necessary Prime Minister. As a country subsidising loss making industries couldn't continue, the outdated practices of trade unions couldn't go on, the state-owned monoliths that accounted for a large percentage of the economy weren't sustainable, or right. The self-pity and childish egotism shown by those celebrating or self-conciously 'not mourning' is mainly because, in the end, Thatcher won. She moved the post-War social democratic, statist, corporatist consensus to one in favour of free markets and individual responsibility. She didn't address many aspects of this - the welfare state, to take a topical example, or healthcare. However, it's worth noting that every single major political party in the UK (including the SNP for any patriots reading) back her programme.1 point

I am from Muir of Ord and suffered through Dungwall Academy, I was one of two Inverness fans out of my friends as my family were originally from Beauly. But I did perhaps enjoy the end of my time when we earned SPL status, certainly not royal status where i went...1 point

The point that St Johnstone won last Monday against Dundee Utd meant that 5 teams were confirmed in the top 6. The SPL at that point should have been able to work out the fixtures for each of the remaining 4 scenarios and could have asked the TV companies and the police for their views on that. If the TV companies or Police were not prepared to discuss until the 6th team was confirmed then at least the SPL could have got the fixtures to TV and Police by 5pm on Saturday. With no OF derby there should be no major policing issues so it all seems rather shabby to me.1 point

What pretty much all supporters want is a merger of the league bodies and the end of the SPL's ludicrous 11-1 majority voting requirement. Without overcoming those obstacles, nothing will ever change. The number of teams in the league is actually pretty irrelevant to me, because if it doesn't work then you can just change it. I think it would be really sad if we missed this opportunity for fundamental reform.1 point

Just out of interest, could these quadcopter things be modified to carry out drone strikes over Dingwall?1 point

It'll damage his Scotland prospects too. Just pathetic. In football terms, it's the same as him dropping down to play for Stenhousemuir. 2nd Division football. The only difference is the money. Strachan should avoid this guy. I'm quite bitter about this because it's made Killie look for another top 'keeper...and they've gone for Reguero.1 point

Very true, St Mirren were talking about Europe at the start of the season, Hibs were high up the table and failed to make a top six, Kilmarnock looked like they had done enough to make top 6 and get chucked out, literally in the last minute. Theres one important thing that I would like to highlight, we are all ICT fans, there are only 5 games left of a great season which will end before we know it so remember to turn up in numbers at the remaining matches and enjoy the final games, what will be will be. If you want you can be a mathematician, an analyst, a football pundit, or a misery, the singers seem to have the most fun but remember to enjoy supporting ICT, Its still been a great season what ever happens, what will be will be.1 point

Let's not get into this "I go to more away matches than you so I am a more loyal fan then you" nonsense. The reasons why people go to particular matches whether it be home or away are matters for them. Some folk wish to and are able to get to most matches. That's great. Other folk for financial, work, or personal reasons (caring for a disabled loved one, for example) only manage to get to a few games. Going to away matches can involve planning and pulling in favours from others and therefore that will tend to be the glamour ties or special occasions rather than Wednesday evening in Kilmarnock. I accept that there are also plenty of folk who don't have the same level of commitment to the team as others and who could but simply don't want to go week in and week out. Of course, it would be great if they went to more matches but they are unlikely to do so if others make them feel that they are not proper supporters. If we get into Europe it would be great if we got good support for away matches (note the optimistic plural). If folk who rarely manage to get to away matches can sort things out in order to be part of that historic chapter in the club's history, then we should all join together in giving the best possible support for the team. Having a small group of regular supporters questioning the right of others to be there really isn't very helpful. CaleyJags Together and all that. I go to more away matches than you do.1 point

Plenty of people on here giving it big licks about what country they can't wait to visit but they don't normally make it to an away game further than Dingwall.1 point

Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
tm4tj posted an article in Reports 2023-24,
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter. Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.
I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.-

Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
tm4tj posted an article in Previews 2023-24,
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.-

Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
tm4tj posted an article in Reports 2023-24,
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.-

Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
tm4tj posted an article in Previews 2023-24,
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!-

Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
tm4tj posted an article in Reports 2023-24,
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.-
