  5. As a fan of ICT, who falls firmly in the Caley camp in our club's history, I guess I must have no self respect then !!!! but I do pride myself on not having this kind if parochial attitude. What utter nonsense, and the merchandise rationale sounds more like parsimony than protest ! When I wore it to a TFC game (as seen in the pic above), I got at least 40 or 50 comments from fellow TFC fans that it was a great looking top (despite the model wearing it), it looked different to most other teams, and was pretty much unique .... no-one thought it was "a complete mess" .... personally, I like it !

  6. With all this fruit talk I can't help but be reminded of Jason Lee, who back in the 90's endured constant chants of "He's got a pineapple on his head...." (to the tune of "He's got the whole world in his hands"). Thankfully it's not the only thing he is remembered for. He is also remembered for for his poor finishing ability and being an overpaid dud at most of the 20 (twenty) clubs he played for, including Falkirk in our 03/04 promotion season.

  9. As a very young man I was sent to Leven in Fife after I resumed my banking career. This was after I had met Bughtmaster in North Germany in the RAF and was demobbed after two years National Service. Every other Saturday I walked from Leven to Bayview Park , Methil, for at least a few years to watch a somewhat ordinary side named East Fife. Whether I enjoyed all the games immensely or not was always secondary to the fact that I had something to look forward to on a Saturday and occasionally you would see what you would imagine was the game of the century when both teams would go on fire and goals would flow one after the other. The pace and the striving would be thrilling and that is what football is all about. That's what is the drug--the uncertainty of what you are about to witness, IMHO. With ICT being at the pinnacle of their history now it is ridiculous to say that the park is too far away. That's just an excuse. Let's face it, once the football gets its claws into you then you just have to get up off your chair, put away the pipe and slippers and limp five miles to the park. Eh?

  10. To be fair to the guy, once he heard the name "pineapple" he did know that was the stuff that came in chunks - but how on earth does he work out how to get them out of the tin?

  11. Perplexes me beyond belief, the excuses people can come up with. Inverness isn't a big place, we all know that.. but if our most successfull season and undoubtably the greatest ever start to a campaign can't put bums on seats.. then maybe the 3/4000 mark really is our cap. I know it's expensive but to enjoy a day watching what has recently been the best performing side in Scotland and to have them on your doorstep surely shouldn't be so far down the pecking order? Are folk saying Inverness are not worth the money, effort or time? It's always going to appear folk won't bother unless we have a modern 4 sided ground, bang in the town center, popping off tickets at a fiver each. Personally can't afford everygame, largely due to extra travelling costs but when I can, it's up there with my primary plans. People are always going to go out of there way to make an excuse to come watch us. Whatever it may be.

  12. So they don't support ICT, because the stadium's too far out of the town centre?! That's absolutely pathetic. I have my own theory here and while I can't prove it, it wouldn't surprise me if it was true. I reckon there's quite a few people round here who were quite happy living in their own little world, in their little cosy Highland town, with a little cosy team that normally plays teams from other little cosy places. There'll be people in Inverness who resent the fact that the club has been so successful. There'll be people who were much happier when we were in the lower leagues playing the likes of Arbroath and Forfar, or even more so the likes of Forres, Nairn and Elgin and will resent the fact that we are now mixing it with the big boys and are now better run and have a better side than the likes of Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs and Dundee United. To be quite honest, such people don't deserve us.

  13. no idea of the demographics ... just assumed they were from that neck of the woods given the comments about Clach, working class, and Grassa (who of course is/was associated with a company whose boss was involved at Grant Street). Really - after 20 years, I think it is better to focus on those who are or want to be ICT fans and leave the 'haters' to their own devices. Some may have legitimate 'reasons' in their own minds and I respect those, whereas others may be bandwagon jumpers or excuse makers .... and you just cant reason with them so no point wasting energy ! Anyhow - back to the positivity of this wonderful start to the season ... our best ever in the SP(F)L.

  14. That's our level...3000 home, 300 (sounds like 3000) away. It won't change. I'm assuming our business model is based on the home figure (STs and gate) plus a few cup gates. In which case, £ for £, I'd say we we had a good case for being the best run, most successful Scottish Professional Football Club in quite some time... And we play good football. Enjoy the ride!

  15. Yup, it is nice to be able to talk about the positive stuff and this start to the season has to have been one of the most positive ever ... !!! I am sure we will have our moments as the season progresses, and the naysayers will once again emerge, perhaps with good reason if things do go pear shaped, but for now the boys seem to be brimming with confidence, the boss is on a mission and all is good .... which is what makes the crowd thing all the more noticeable. I am sure there are a multitude of reasons for lower attendances. cost, recession, people who move away to uni or to other cities with jobs etc, some just grow up and/or have other priorities that go higher in the list .... I dont think there is one factor that causes this decline, and its different for all. I am glad you think the forum is capable of increasing the number of bums on seats, but personally I doubt it ... we are an avenue for (some) ICT fans to discuss all things ICT and other topics too, but our influence in terms of increasing the crowd is negligible to say the least .... I can only relate what I experienced last time I was home. My season ticket for a number of years was right above the tunnel in the main stand. Over the years most of the folk stayed the same in that area and we tried to get things going (we even got some parts of the stand singing on a semi-regular basis !!). We were allowed a fair bit of latitude and had a few good old ding-dongs with opposing managers or subs etc, and the "catchphrase humour" you mention that came from a few of us was at times 'quality' stuff ! This was of course primarily in the pre-SPL days !!! ..... wonder how many folk remember Yogi Hughes being chased up the touchline by Frank Connor waving his stick after we were winding Yogi up and FC caught him taking the piss? or the slagging that Ian McCall would take every time he came to the TCS? On my last trip home I sat in the same area for an SPL game and it was a morgue. Speaking to a few people afterwards, the reasoning given was that those same worthies had been warned off by stewards and/or club officials and told they would lose season tickets or be ejected/arrested if they stood, chanted, swore at opposition staff etc .... banter was well and truly gone. It was a "sit-down-shut-up" situation. Part of this was down to who was calling the matchday shots for the club at the time (no longer there), and the rest was because of how he was reacting to or interpreting all the various rules/regulations laid down by the SPL ... being in the big boy league comes with responsibilities and the mantra seemed to be "better safe than sorry" !!! If I had been a neutral I would not have come back - that was not an entertaining day despite the lads winning on the park ! To me, football is a means of releasing the tension and frustration of a working week and being treated this way was increasing that tension, not giving it an outlet. Obviously I don't experience it first hand any more, but it does seem to be changing for the better ... We can frequently hear what I assume are the young lads singing coming across on the audio feeds, and we see less threads on here about stewarding issues so I assume they are behaving and the stewards leave them alone (for the most part) ... if we can take it to the next level and make the rest of the day out enjoyable then maybe things will improve .... how we do that I do not know ...

  16. How to get more people watching this team is something I scratch my head about on a daily basis. The club are pretty good in terms of pricing, access, taking supporters points on board and trying to get more kids along on the grounds that they are tomorrows paying customers. Then I see stats that suggest that the picture is pretty stable (by and large) over a number of years and you begin to think that maybe that's just the crowds that we will get. I also think that there's a growing disconnect between people and sport at a local level. They don't play, they don't contribute, they don't support. Participation seems to range from playing FIFA or football manager and then graduating on to buying a sky subscription, and that's it. How local clubs compete against the draw of watching Barcelona or Bayern or PSG or Man Utd on the telly I don't know. Factor in a tightening of economic belts and watching televised football as well as going to games becomes the territory of the affluent. It's not the "working man's game" it used to be and it suffers for that. All that everyone connected can do is to keep turning up, keep shouting our name from the rooftops and supporting whatever initiatives the club comes up with - especially this year. Try and drag one of your mates along, bring the kids. I'm of the opinion that this might be the best ICT side we'll ever have, who have a real chance of finishing even higher than last year. Ok, it could all go pete tong but I have a feeling that it won't. I just wish there were more people there to see it.

    • Inverness CT 3-1 Morton - Report
It was a lovely evening for a game of football, what could possibly go wrong? Well, what did go wrong was Queen's Park beat an understrength Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden, therefore despite beating Morton 3-1, Inverness head for the play-offs. Morgan Boyes opened the scoring with a thumping volley after half an hour. Kirk Broadfoot benefited from slack defending to level before the break then proceeded to earn the wrath of the home support with an embarrassing celebration in front of the North Stand. Cammy Harper relieved Billy Mckay of penalty kick duties and duly slotted home from the spot ten minutes after the break. The scoring was completed just after the hour when Sean McAllister drilled home into the bottom corner. Robbie Muirhead had been sent off for simulation then taking a wee fit to himself and was promptly sent off after 58 minutes just after Harper had knocked in his penalty kick, probably aggrieved that he never earned a spot kick for his dramatic dive.

Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L  W W L  D

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.
