  1. I don't live in Moray. You were the one who pulled up Elgin fans for thinking ICT and Caley were the same For the record, there not. Caledonian Football Club died in 1994. My point is Elgin fans still see ICT as Caley as Caley contributed 70% of the assets, 80% of the membership, and 90% of the fund-raising capacity during the merger, which is much more of a takeover than a merger. It was a takeover of Thistle that lead to the Franchise of ICT being created, cant quite see why you couldn't understand that's what I was saying I don't want to change this into a Caley vs Thistle debate anyway, as it's not my place. The basic point I was trying to make is Elgin fans still see ICT as Caley and we are well aware the rivalry is not returned on ICT's part, but we don't care. This is a massive game for us and I can't wait. Come on Elgin I'm really looking forward to this tie. The Caley Elgin games during the 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's were always top drawer and the fans rivalry was spicy to say the least. I'm looking forward to a solid Caley victory and also seeing some old faces in the Elgin support.
  2. Oh come on Alex, the post specifically says BIG team! My BIG team was Caledonian FCand now it's ICT
  3. I think they will probaly need to or our cheepo stick on poppy will fall off! Why didn't we do a special shirt with poppy screen printed on shirts?
  4. Good post! Rooney doesn't appear to be in a big hurry to sign a new contract, and if he doesn't we should listen to offers for him in January. Totally agree Johnboy. Rooney could get ?2k-?3k a week in English Div1 so I really don't think there is much chance of us keeping him.
  5. Oh take me back to the good old days. Footie matches against the Ferry on our wee pitch behind St Fergus (now garages). Some tough, but good guys around in those days!
  6. Must be getting a good deal! Saw him yesterday viewing some cream at the local Merc Dealers.
  7. Let's not foget that he is doing the business in Div 2 - a far cry from SPL or even the top half of the Div 1. I honestly don't think ICT would gain anything by taking Rory back at this time. He is doing well where he is and I'm sure he will be enjoying being the top man at Brechin.
  8. Dropping down a level or two was just the experience Rory needed and he is doing well from it. Good luck to him.
  9. The old Inshes store was OK and the staff looked quite happy with their bit. What the hell has happened? my question to staff member at new cigs/lotto counter: Can you tell me please why my Lotto Speed Card does not work at the tills whilst my Euro & Thunderball cards do? Response: I don't know. ......... Full Bludy Stop!!!!! Not even :" i'll try to find out" or "i'll print another for you" They are getting worse - roll on ASDA (even if The Builder does make a fortune from it!
  10. Your son's development will be very much down to the quality of coaching and treatment he receives from the coaches so I hope you can see where I am coming from. Beleive me, I hope your son and any other deserving member of the U19 squad make it to the next level but they will need all the help and advice they can get. That generally comes from those with experience at the highest level.
  11. My first post (Not relation to anyone in the U 19's before you start caleyboy). What are you on about caleyboy?!! These are young men (16, 17 & 18 year olds!) developing their own individual ability in the game!! Yes it is a game!! Nothing to do with attitude, just a bunch of young men learning their trade and making the odd mistake. Some will be better than others and unlike other professions, most will have to go and find another career at the age of 18!!! I made a couple of mistakes at my work today but no-one is accusing me of having an attitude or blaming my boss. And I am 29, not 17!! you think I would be more perfect at my age, like you!! As for blaming the coaches, what playing pedigree do you think/know is required to coach our U 19's & what qualifications do you desire our club coaches to have? This was my original post re this game: "An absolute disgrace getting beat at this level by a SHFL youth side some of whom also played the day before. Was this an attitude problem? Was it a quality problem? If it was attitude the coach needs replacing! If it was a quality problem the whole structure needs an overhaul! Now I know why we don't hear very much about this squad. Sorry to be negative but this is the reward for doing everything on the cheap and the Club investing absolutely NOTHING in our youth programme! This is NOT the players fault - they are still learning - it is down to coaching, discipline and the teaching of good habits!" I have fully supported our Youth Development since the club was formed but we are an SPL club and this is a Professional squad so it is far more than just a GAME. To get to this level the kids obviously have the ability which now needs development on a full time basis but the essential elements required are ATTITUDE and GOOD HABITS. As an SPL club, I would expect our U19's coaches to have at LEAST a SFA YOUTH LICENCE! However, I would also expect them to be working towards the EUROPEAN PRO Licence. You will find that our U19 coaches do not hold either. Just as important, I think PLAYING experience at a FULL-TIME PROFESSIONAL level is also a MUST in order to impart the knowledge to our young pros. I beleive the Club already has 2 individuals suitably qualified in both areas but they are not involved with our U19's. Sorry if I have upset anyone by my comments but it is VITAL that the club gets this right for our future eg Grant Munro & Nick Ross to name just two who have come all the way through the programme.
  12. `I remember Gordy from our days in the 8th BB's. A real gentleman and a true supporter who will be missed by many. Cheers Gord
  13. Not really...They didn't play the best they could....but then Keith didn't let them. Is football not a game of two teams.....and not of one team standing there to allow the "better team" to score willy nilly? Did Scotland have an attitude problem against Spain? Is it not about time Scotland spent some serious money and employed a suitably qualified coach who also has a playing pedigree? I take it you are either the mother or girlfriend of one of our U19 squad and I can fully accept you want to defend his position. However, I cannot accept that a SHFL club have more talented players than us nor can I accept that they would be more tactically aware to enable them to "stop" us playing. Sorry, but our boys went out against Keith because they thought that they only had to turn up to win this tie. If the coaches had them mentally prepared (as they should be for ALL games) they should have won comfortably. If Keith FC had better players than ICT, then we don't have the right quality at the club. In either case, where would you lay the blame?
  14. Good to see the U19's getting a result. So the problem against Keith FC was ATTITUDE. Sorry but the coaches need to take responsibility for this and it is about time the club spent some serious money and employed a suitably qualified coach who also has a playing pedigree.
  15. Does this mean big Dunk Shearer returns to full-time football? They certainly used to be very close so you never know!
  16. I think I get the picture. Now the place has been open for three weeks, people have clearly cottoned on to how bad it is and are voting with their feet. My email to TESCO: "Having been a loyal customer of your Inshes Inverness Store for many years I must express my dissapointment with your new store. I'm sure you will have seen an increase in turnover but the shopping experience is no longer enjoyable. Even the staff have lost the smile they used to have. I would also recommend that you review whoever holds the franchise for the Cafe as the service is absolutely terrible and the quality extremely poor and cannot be doing the Tesco reputaion any good at all". And their reply: Firstly, please allow me to apologise for the delay in getting back to you. We do endeavour to get back to all enquiries as quickly as possible, and I?m very sorry that we?ve let you down in that respect. I'm very sorry to learn of your disappointment with our Inshes Inverness store. I appreciate how this no longer makes your shopping trip enjoyable. Further to this, I would like to offer you my sincere apologies for any annoyance caused by the refurbishment that our Inshes inverness store has had recently. In addition to this, I'd also like to offer you my apologies for any frustrations caused upon your recent visit to our Cafe. Our Caf? staff try hard to make certain that the food we sell is of the best quality. So it's really disappointing to hear that we let you down on this occasion. Therefore, I would like to reassure you that I've passed the details of your concerns onto our Store Manager and Cafe Manager to ensure that this is looked into at Store level. This will enable our Managers to ensure that this doesn't happen again. Although there is little I can say to alleviate the disappointment caused, I do hope you will accept my sincerest apologies. Thank you for taking your time to contact me. Kind Regards Lexy St Clair Customer Service Manager Tesco Customer Service Ha Ha Ha!
  17. Hving just read the article I must say big Dunk's memory has gone. Both he and Pele had absolutely solid contracts when McGil was in the chair. FACT
  18. caleyboy

    Talent

... maybe we should look at some of the Keith FC U19's!
  19. I think you will be in the minority this time DC. I don't see any improvement in what they have done and the Cafe is still BOGGING!
  20. An absolute disgrace getting beat at this level by a SHFL youth side some of whom also played the day before. This is NOT the players fault - they are still learning - it is down to coaching, discipline and the teaching of good habits!
  21. This certainly sounds like a bit of overkill on the part of the SFA. Perhaps this is motivated by a genuine desire to shield young players from excessive competitive pressures and you can actually appreciate that when it's relevant, but this surely is a hefty overdose of Political Correctness which would even put Harriet Harman in the shade. If the above is the case, then I think the SFA need to waken up, smell the coffee and come to terms with the real world. It is a competitive place and while you can indeed over pressurise a situation I think that they have called this one seriously wrong. For instance, these very same under 17s will be studying for Highers, Standard Grades etc and will get results which inevitably will be compared with their peers. 30 odd years in my day job and in coaching athletics to a reasonably high level tells me that this kind of thing motivates youngsters. And what's the motivation on the field if league tables are banned and you can't even get the warm glow of satisfaction of seeing your result on your own club website? How prepared then are young Scottish players at last to emerge into the real world of competitive football - where we don't really seem to be producing much?! Alex also makes a very valid point about parents - not by any means all of them, but you do see the overcharged few going blue in the face with bulging veins in their foreheads. Oh, and at last to get to what should have been my first point. That was a very decent match report young man! I am sure that more of the same will be very welcome. Here's hoping the SFA Thought Police don't track down your URL and close you down though! :annoyed: There has always been a problem with the SFA regarding results and league tables at this level - and we wonder why Scottish Football is so far down the rankings!
  22. I believe "SHEEP" is still keeping goal somewhere in Aus
  23. Walker - retired from football to help run the family business Ridgers - Nairn County McNulty - Was at Elgin until end of last season but not there now. ??? Smith - no information after leaving ICT. Zibi - went to OKS 1945 Olsztyn (Poland) but now at Korona Kielce (Poland) Come to think of it, I'm sure I read somewhere that Smith went to college in America after leaving ICT. Where he went there, I don't know, what he's doing now, I don't know, and if he carried on playing football there, I really have no idea. Jono Smith went to Clach after leaving ICT. No longer plays - what a waste!
  24. This is the kind of info which should be coming from the CLUB, NOT, i take it, from a parent.
  25. Good to see the old BP Youth Cup coming round again and also getting a tie that we should win. Very annoyed however that we see very little posted either on here or on the official website about the U19's. Is it because we have yet to win a match in the SPL? This club has to learn that we need to know how these kids are getting on - NOT just when we are winning matches against CLUBS who genuinely make considerable investment in youth development! I firmly believe that individual progress and development is far more important than any team result at this level. Come on people, get a grip on reality - we will NEVER have 13 or 14 top quality youngsters at this level so we will struggle to win matches. However, if we have 2 or 3 diamonds making it to the next level we should consider this a bonus. Please keep us up to date.
