  1. A lot of people seem to struggle with Ciftci's name. Allow me to help. You won't be too far wrong with "Chief cheat".
  2. After all the recent complaints about the terrible coverage we get from the BBC, they dedicate a prime time Saturday evening show to ICT.......and we don't show up.
  3. Benefits of a postponement: 1. Tie will take place when Ofere and Kink are fitter and know the team better 2. Warren won't be suspended 3. Brill might be back. 4. Pitch should be in better nick, to suit our passing game 5. We will definitely be in the draw for the sem-finals!
  4. Meekings at Pittodrie?
  5. Give you a clue....an away game and you can just make out the eye of the goal scorer to the right of Christie's head.
  6. Talking of stats and records, I noticed that according to Soccerbase, our Ryan Christie's first competitive game was a Scottish Cup tie for Fraserburgh in 2006 - when he was just 11.
  7. Like the interviews with the new signings - but what goal is being celebrated in the background?
  8. Had a dream last night that Watkins played upfront in this one but got 2 yellows in the first half, and we lost 1-0. I don't think it is a credible premonition though, as we also brought on one of my mates (a Dundee Utd fan) as a sub and he got a straight red within seconds.
  9. And yet Jim Weir doesn't have a great record at the 3 Angus clubs he managed, getting sacked at least twice. So does this turnaround suggest, that Barry Wilson was a pretty poor manager? The next time the ICT job is up for grabs will surely be the first time since about 2005 that we won't have fans rose-tintedly suggesting that Wilson should get the job. He's still one of my all time fave players though.
  10. 3 poor performances in a week. Thankfully Utd have done slightly worse.
  11. Motherwell had only taken 1 point from their previous 8 games. We have now won just 1 of our last 5 league games.
  12. First time in 8 games that we haven't scored the first goal.
  13. Notice how Ciftci was wearing gloves? It's not because of the cold, it's to avoid leaving fingerprints.
  14. So we have 3 guys on trial and then sign this striker from leftfield, so to speak. I recall Hughes saying a few weeks ago that he wouldn't sign a player unless he's personally seen him play. Has he? It's an intriguing signing though, however it came about.
  15. Not forgetting Mali Watkins!
  16. Forget "Where's Wally", let's play "Where's Ciftci?"

That was about 10 years ago, and has become our 1966!

I think in Scotland we should just stick to the sports that we are good at, like, erm.....
  19. Not sure what to make of this, but I see on BBC website the match highlights are under the heading "Rugby Union"
  20. Fair point, I really can't think why didn't use the actual home of Haig!
  21. I might be wrong but is there not some stupid rule whereby if the officials dealt with an incident at the time (2 players clashed and cards were issued) then nothing can be done restrospectively, even if the officials got it wrong?
  22. To sum up that match in one word: TORTUOUS. Most of that game was just agony for us, knowing that we had failed to capitalise on the possession and pressure we'd had and Utd grew in confidence. We were panicky and the passing was the most atrocious we've seen under Hughes. Just couldn't keep possession. Players who have been doing well recently had off nights (sorry Ryan - footballing brain was certainly in gear tonight but the passes and through balls just weren't working at all for some reason, alternating between overhit and underhit). Couldn't get the game under control and an equaliser grew more and more inevitable, albeit it was a scrappy goal. That goal sparked a bit of life into us and the game opened up, helped by Utd sensing our weakness and boldly making attack minded substitutions. The sad truth is Hughes didn't make substitutions because we had NOBODY on the bench of sufficient calibre to influence a game like this one. Nobody. This game was not a good advert for the SPFL. Pretty terrible football and very few real chances created. Not sure what the foul count was but it seemed very high, and the ref had dug a hole for himself by booking Raven in the first few seconds, setting a fairly low bar for yellows. Very hard to pick our MotM as nobody stood out. Perhaps Shinnie, one of the calmest heads when on the ball. And Draper was the only presence in midfield. Fair result in the end, and one we'd have all taken before the start.
  23. Blue skies and sunshine here in Dundee at the moment, but there's a definite windchill. This is a massive game in our quest for 3rd place and without any hesitation I'd put it in the "take a draw" category. I've been at a few midweek games at Tannadice over the years and as far as I can recall we've lost every one of them.
  24. There was definitely some movement of the ball as it passed the defender but there wasn't any contact. To me the obvious conclusion is that there was an invisible force emanating from the defender - some sort of magnetic field or anti-gravity!
