  2. Personally, I don't think we should glory in the fact that any team is going to the wall, however much we dislike them. That's two Scottish teams in just over two years. Its a pretty fine line between solvency and going out of business. I know both Gretna and Livingston took the route of 'rich benefactors', and who can blame them, only to be let down in the end. Its no different here in England. Even at premiership level, it only needs some of the multi millionaire owners to tire of their new toy, and the clubs would be left in queer street.
  3. Wasn't at the game, nor at any of the pre season 'waste of time' friendlies, but I have to agree with our Montrose supporter who has accurately assessed the mentality of a lot, maybe most, of our so called supporters. ffs what did you expect? We were a poor SPL side last year, and probably deserved to be relegated, even though I blame TB for not keeping us up when we were virtually safe with three games to go. But, beating half a dozen Highland league teams is not in my opinion adequate preparation for a season when we have to compete with, and beat, the likes of Dundee, Dunfermline, Partick, and even Ross County. Look forward to a few more disappoinments fellow ICT supporters. Having said that, I hope I can can on here at the end of the season and eat my words.
  4. Begs the question as to how useful all these friendlies versus Highland League opposition really are!
  5. Thank goodness Gavin's record for Scotland is better than his one and only test for England, when he scored a duck in both innings, and took nought for plenty as a bowler, v South Africa in about 2001.
  6. Lionel's bicycle kick goal in all the friendlies so far this season! At least Caley D should agree with me!

  8. Just watched Tiger throwing his club after a bad shot. He is undoubtedly the best player in the world, but he really is a surly so-and-so, and not entirely the best role model for young players. Interesting to see a 16 year old and a seventeen year old playing at this level. Amazing!
  9. Back in the dark ages (1950s), I saw Caley play two games in a day, on more than one occasion, with virtually the same team out. No substitutes then either!
  10. I'm sure you didn't mean that to sound as calous as it did to me. RIP.
  11. 40-love to Scotty methinks. Unless Johnboy can come up with a Federesque return, maybe even game, set and match!
  12. For a long time I couldn't get "The green green grass of home" out of my head. Eventually I went to the doctor and told him. He told me I had Tom Jones syndrome. I asked if that was a common complaint, and he said, "Its not unusual". Boom boom!
  13. I don't think there is much chance of Ince doing a 'Brewster' second time round. MK Dons are a decent side and I'm sure they'll be contenders for promotion next season.
  14. First mention of Marius, I think, on this thread!. I'd settle for those three.
  15. Not a lot in it. The top conference sides would hold their own in SFL1, imho.
  16. I'm with you tmftj. The quality of posts generated these days certainly leaves a lot to be desired. And don't get me started on the standard of spelling and grammar used in them!
  17. If the report is accurate that the attack only happened on Sunday, the incident can have nothing to do with the reason for his release from ICT, which happened weeks ago.
  18. Jasmina, the girl who won, comes from this area. I hear that her restaurant (very expensive), a few miles from where I live, is already doing terriffic business with rubberneckers hoping for a sight of her.
  19. That comment is quite a bit off the mark. TB did release Vigurs and Woody and this could only be for financial reasons, but the youth set up is a completely different scenario. Thankfully many of our under 19s still have a year to run in their contracts as we may have to rely on the under 19s to boost the 1st team squad. If cost was the only criterion for letting young players like Vigurs, Wood and Zander go, then surely he could have looked at releasing one or two more senior players who perhaps have little left to offer ICT instead. I'm sure that would have saved much more money. The youth set up as you describe it may indeed be a different scenario, but how encouraged those youngsters in it must be to see what happens to ICT's young players as soon as the financial strings have to be reined in.
  20. Not surprising. As TB seems hell bent on getting rid of most of the young players produced by the youth system anyway, perhaps he sees it as expendable.
  21. I'm still gobsmacked that our new manager let them go, (especially Vigurs), apparently with little attempt at keeping them. Hope he knows what he's doing. To me they seemed exactly the type of players who would have benefitted with a season or two in SFL. Now they'll get this experience with County. I sincerely hope we don't regret it.
  22. Can't argue with that! I must say Obi really looked useful in his short stint v Falkirk. Very worthwhile holding on to.
  23. What about Tony Mowbery back to Hibs? They could do a lot worse.
  24. Yet again, many thanks Gringo, for another enjoyable competition, efficiently run as usual.
