    • Hamilton -V- Inverness CT - Play off Final 1st Leg - Preview
However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.

    • Inverness CT 1-0 Montrose Play-Off Second Leg (0-0)
Little Consolation: Inverness will face Hamilton Accies in the Play-Off final after nervously scraping past part-time Montrose who were eventually reduced to ten men when Blair Lyons was sent off after an off the ball incident in the 84th minute involving Morgan Boyes. Inverness had dominated throughout, but failed to capitalise on their possession, and as per the entire season failed to create much of note. The first half was livlier than the first leg, but the same problems showed up our lack of quality. We started with no wingers and Billy Mckay as usual in a withdrawn role. It's not worked all season, so why should it suddenly work now. A woeful first half ended goalless and it was on the hour and out of the blue when Billy Mckay prodded in from three yards to score the only goal of the game following a corner

    • Inverness CT -V- Montrose - Second Leg (0-0)
As much as we have criticised the Caley Jags performance on Tuesday night, let's not lose sight of the fact that Montrose are a decent League 1 side with a good blend of experience and talented prospects. For our part, let's keep them as a good League 1 side and that means no room for faffing about. Time has run out now, there's no hiding places and no room for shirkers. Ditch the sideways passing or put goal posts in front of the Main Stand and tuck shops.

    • Montrose 0-0 Inverness CT - Play Off 1st Leg
      FULL TIME: 0-0

All to play for on Saturday, but don't hold your breath...

However, if we continue like this, it will be our final game this season.

Best performer for us was Samson Lawal, the only bright spark on the field.

Alloa 2-2 Hamilton was the other semi-final score tonight. On this evidence, I doubt either side will be quaking in their boots.

    • Inverness CT 3-1 Morton - Report
It was a lovely evening for a game of football, what could possibly go wrong? Well, what did go wrong was Queen's Park beat an understrength Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden, therefore despite beating Morton 3-1, Inverness head for the play-offs. Morgan Boyes opened the scoring with a thumping volley after half an hour. Kirk Broadfoot benefited from slack defending to level before the break then proceeded to earn the wrath of the home support with an embarrassing celebration in front of the North Stand. Cammy Harper relieved Billy Mckay of penalty kick duties and duly slotted home from the spot ten minutes after the break. The scoring was completed just after the hour when Sean McAllister drilled home into the bottom corner. Robbie Muirhead had been sent off for simulation then taking a wee fit to himself and was promptly sent off after 58 minutes just after Harper had knocked in his penalty kick, probably aggrieved that he never earned a spot kick for his dramatic dive.

  1. Past hour
  2. At this point yes I probably would. Even 1 goal this half would be a huge bonus.
  3. We are second to every ball.We don't seem to know what the plan is.Playing Billy so deep has not worked in any games. We look rattled and shell shocked. We need a goal and keep them at no more than two to have any chance on Saturday of pulling off a miracle.
  4. Would you settle for 2-0 tonight? Gives us a chance at least in the 2nd leg, if we can get our act together.
  5. Ferguson in the P&J this week saying that's where he's being played so Billy is doing as he's instructed.
  6. I'd expect concerts to make money and not rip off local businesses. I'd expect not to give contact extensions to crap managers then replace them 6 games later with another incompetent manager with an name just to boost his ego. I'd expect not treating fan groups with utter contempt. I'd expect not launching BS roof building schemes then taking money and quietly cancelling it. I'd expect not bringing us to the brink of part time football, relegation or worse. I wouldn't be surprised if he has no KPIs at all. I think Morrison just employed him and let him do whatever he wants.
  7. We can't score, end of, so I have no faith that we can turn it round and that pains me to say it. I had no confidence before kick off and even less now. We can't cope with their fast pace, high tempo, high press style of play and seeing the pitch being watered (even though its 4G or whatever you call it) tells me that Hamilton will continue in the same way. Individual errors, trying to play a style that we just can't play. Referee has also been questionable and both sides could have had a penalty.
  8. Lawal and Carragher on for Gilmour and Duffy.
  9. That I'm afraid, is the reality. 2 goals down at half-time, and with our scoring record a reversal would be nothing short of miraculous. But I don't think it's that bad. Perhaps a chance to regroup, purge and hopefully bring our own youth players into the squad and let them grow and thrive. I'd rather see a team primarily of Highlanders representing my town and pushing for promotion, no matter how long it takes!
  10. He’s pretty much been a midfielder recently but presumably he is doing what he is instructed to do by the manager.
  11. Cannot afford McKay to be playing 2 yard sideways passes. No idea why he has dropped so deep been doing it for weeks and it's so f***ing frustrating.
  12. What an awful half for us. Two disastrous and rather freakish goals. In general though I don’t think we have been as bad as the score suggests, it’s been an even game overall and we are playing more attacking football than we have done in recent games (which is isn’t saying much, admittedly).
  13. Feel like I'm about to go against what everyone else thought with my take We've managed to get the ball into some decent spots and have forced a couple of saves, our biggest threat is down the left, when go right kerr too often has stopped and played back the way. McKay is not a 10 and I thought he was one of the worst offenders for slowing our attacks down. Feel the ref hasn't handled it well, and should have booked a Hamilton well before he did. Could argue we should have had a pen, same for Hamilton, and felt the second was a foul on Ridgers
  14. We need to go 442, Get Longstaff away to feck, get Mcgregor or Lawal on to give some direct play. There's just no passion, Half of theses guys will be away Saturday night.
  15. Even worse than feared. Everything is so slow, our midfield look like they're running in treacle. Nothing against Gilmour but he's barely half fit, I just can't fathom the decision to parachute him straight in after 3 months out. We need to see Lawal & Macgregor as Anderson is blowing too. This one is on the manager. It's been coming.
  16. Hamiltons tactics are spot on.Give us no space, high tempo, show drive and desire to win and control midfield. They need to get a grip, switch on and start playing our own game and bring on Lawal
  17. Jeez 2 goals down, need miracle and only 33 mins gone
  18. There are more goals in this game, I just hope some are for us.
  19. Absolute **** show, no idea from back to front.
  20. Cove, Arbroath, Montrose, Alloa, Annan, Kelty, Stenhousemuir - yep, our level… At least maybe we’ll get a positive sub on 5 mins earlier than usual as we chase the game - or perhaps we won’t, because we can’t get out of a defensive mindset that’s become entrenched.
  21. He’s been played there most games. The summariser has it spot on about how we have lined up. The next goal is vital.
  22. Why is Billy playing so deep? Hes almost in midfield. Needs to much furrher up.
  23. I’m starting to see the benefits of the mind-numbingly unambitious and negative tactics we saw at Montrose.
  24. Hamilton have settled well,we are nervous and it shows.trying to walk it into the net.I would go 442 and push Billy up alongside Samuel. At the moment we look like Div 1 team.
