Heard this on the Supporters Trust bus yesterday. Not good news if thats the case as it only goes to extend the injury list.

He'll be a good first team player within two years IMO.

Chubbs told us, on Sunday at the under 19s game, that he is having surgery on his shoulder this week, similar to Aaron Doran's surgery. Best of luck, Andy - he hopes to back playing, after the under 19s winter break.

Would be really interested to know the reasons for the ops. In the good old days it was all about reduction,immobilisation and deltoid strengthening but that served to make the injury more prone to recur. I take it that the operation is aimed at longer term restoration but that can be an unpredictable and lengthy recovery process.

Andrew shoulder has popped out 4/5 times in the last 18 months, this time was the worst, so they gave it 8 weeks with rehab etc to see if they could strengthen the area but this has not proved successful and now the surgery will rebuild part of the shoulder to strengthen it, then stopping the shoulder popping out and meaning this will no longer be a problem for him

He had some sort of plate or bolt put in I think showed the scars last I seen him

Sorry to hear this. Thought he might of been one of the young lads capable of breaking into the first team. Any news of any others in the u19s?

I'm surprised. I've only seen him play once against Clach and he looked like he really had something. I hope this doesn't turn into another MacKay-Stevens-esque, shouldn't have let them go scenario.

I'm afraid that in these difficult times there has to be a lot of ruthlesness if teams are to survive. We cant afford another season of injuries, look what happened at the start of this season, we did not have a settled team because of injuries, resulting in a horrific start in the league.

A manager in our circumstances cannot take the chance on any weaknesses no matter what the potential is in the player, it would be a gamble which is not affordable imo.

Build up a strong group of less injury prone players and if there is money left over when the nucleus of the squad is in place then, perhaps, a luxury here and there wouldn't go amiss, until then go for proven strength and ability.

I suppose this time we had a reliable, specialist opinion. At such a young age that is truly sad and gut wrenching. If what has been said before is true this could clearly be the end of a more senior career - most clubs will not touch him with the proverbial barge pole.

have seen him several times this season and he looked a really good prospect so surprised to see him released. The shoulder dislocation is surely a one off injury and he seemed to have come back from it strongly at the end of the season. a real shame for the lad as he seemingly has a good attitude etc. hope he can bounce back

Shoulder dislocation can be one of the most nagging injuries - operations are seldom 100% effective - frozen shoulder or susceptibility to further dislocation are commonplace and that can evidently restrict exercise in regard to upper body strength and balance. That may sound depressing but he is a young lad and he may be able to fight through the pain.

As IHE has said, shoulder dislocation can give problems for the rest of the lads life. He is still just 19 so maybe he can overcome this setback. I can understand why people would make the comparrison with Hoggy but I will assume that any decision has been made with the best medical advise taken into account. I agree which was why I was very surprised when we gave Hogg a new contract but on balance the young lad will be getting pennies compared to the other two so I'd say it would be nowhere near the same financial risk.

Assuming he has made a full recovery as seems to be the case, it would seem crazy to release him on the basis that he may have niggles in future. I heard the club also paid for his treatment which seems a strange thing to do only to release him a few months later when seemingly fully fit. Having been to most U19 home games this season its fair to say the form of the team improved dramatically with him in it. The results and performances during his time out injured were very poor and yet the improvement when he came back towards the end of the season was almost instant.

Whether it was his potential for future injury or not, the worrying thing here is the bigger picture. We have sat through some dire performances all season, served up by over-rated loanees without a care for the club. We then release a home grown youngster with great pace, ability and potential who would at least get the crowd on their feet and show some passion. I for one would much rather see the likes of Chubbs given a chance than suffer another season of Knakpa's, Winnall's, Aldred's etc who come here as a last resort, show no desire to be here then bomb down the A9 at the first opportunity.

Why oh why are the club continuing to drag out the misery of this season with yet another potential miscommunication ? Without a statement and a rationale the conspiracy theories can only abound. They were not so slow in trying to defend the Gavin Morrison story were they ?

a three word sentence 'got released today' brings about conspiracies and bad treatment and every other negative suggestion possible. Much like the Morrison story did when it came out.......until explained otherwise. Has any thought gone into the idea that maybe Andrew asked to be released to further his career elsewhere?

Another point I'd make is that there is a big gulf between U-19 and first team in SPL. Scrapping the U-21 and reserve league put paid to proper development. There is the odd player in Scotland that has made the grade to first team at U-19 but they are few and far between. All clubs will bring through a few but most have to let players go because they are not quite up to first team development and the clubs cannot afford to continue paying their wages. We have brought through Ross, Shinnie, Sutherland. We are investing in Morrison by sending him to Iceland. We also still have Polworth, Laing and Smith who could still come through. Its not only the players we have to look at its the positions they play. Perhaps we are well covered in Chubbs favoured position.

It must be a difficult thing but if players reach the age where they are not able to play in U-19 league then a choice has to be made as to what to do with them. Theoretically a manager could be faced with a group of sixteen or seventeen 20 year olds and places for only one or two of them. What can he do with the rest but release them.

Personally I believe we will see Morrison become a regular and possibly more of Polworth next season.
