Let's not get into this "I go to more away matches than you so I am a more loyal fan then you" nonsense.    The reasons why people go to particular matches whether it be home or away are matters for

  • Plenty of people on here giving it big licks about what country they can't wait to visit but they don't normally make it to an away game further than Dingwall.

I can't believe people are actually talking about Europe.(before anything is confirmed)   I'm delighted we are in the top 6.

English team!

Would love Dublin! Interestingly, finishing runners-up to Celtic in the SPL doesn't give that team an advantage over the 3rd placed team.

2nd and 3rd both enter at the same stage in next season's Europa draw. The Scottish Cup winners (or beaten finalists if Celtic lift it) start a round later.

It'll likely be 'regionalised' in the early rounds...so maybe a Scandinavian team or one from the Baltic countries!

We have to play one more qualifier than the cup winners!?! Thats not very fair

I would love that! But it's highly unlikely to happen...clubs from the 'major' European leagues don't enter until a later stage. The only way would be if one of the English teams qualified via the Fair Play route.

Here's a list of 41 teams for the 2nd Qualifying Round - our round! ( remembering that there's 39 teams to be added from the 1st Round)...making a total of 80 clubs in the draw!!

I've already got my heart set on the Faroe Islands!

Israel or Croatia ;-).

Yeah, it's mad! Falkirk could be straight into the 3rd Qualifying Round draw! To be honest, there's a fair chance that if we do qualify, our oppenents will be a team we've never heard of! (and probably vice versa!!!)

It I am interpreting this article correctly (http://splstats.wordpress.com/2013/02/28/how-to-qualify-for-europe-2/), this is how the placings work:

- If Celtic win the Scottish Cup, 2nd in the SPL enters at the 3rd qualifying round. in this scenario, the Scottish Cup runner up and 3rd in the SPL enter at the 2nd qualifying round.

- If a team other than Celtic win the Scottish Cup, that team enters at the 3rd qualifying round and 2nd and 3rd in the SPL enter at the 2nd qualifying round.

So, basically, whether or not a team finishes 2nd as opposed to third is only relevant with regards to where they enter the competition if Celtic win the Cup.

Yeah probably wont happen. Thanks for the link that explains it pretty clearly!

Brazil.

They may not be in Europe but you can never write them off.

Hold on, you have to think about this. The last thing you want is a Scandanavian team, They will be two thirds of the way through their season, and us in pre season. Not a good idea. We really want some of the no hopers before entering the later big draws. Sammarinese runners up, Leictenstien, Andorra, Faroes etc if they get through the first round. Not Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Danish or even Irish Republic. Not sure of Icelandic either, as us being in pre season would be one hell of a leveller.

Lets not get carried away yet, still need at least 13 points at this stage out of 6 games.

Just watched that Ross Kemp doc on Polish Football hooligans!

No thanks!!!! that goes for Turkey too!

But lets secure 2nd or 3rd place before this topic goes too far!

Israel

Think I'd like to come back alive thanks!

Uzbekistan. Anywhere else and butcher will have to go...

Considering we enter second round and all these little leagues enter 1st. It is very unlikely all these faroese, andorran, maltese and sanmarinese teams will advance there rounds

Liechtenstein, Czech Republic or Switzerland, as I would be able to come and watch it there . An Austrian team would be within geographical reach, too, but that country is some kind of no-go for me except for climbing.

Wales, a hotly contested tie against TNS would be fun. Plenty terracing too.

That's not quite correct. It is only the cup winners who would go in a round later. If the cup is won by Celtic then then 2nd place in the league takes the later round that the cup winners would have got and the runners up of the cup go in at the earlier round.

To be honest going in at an earlier round would give us the chance of winning a tie before then facing a stronger team in the later round. I think the early rounds are regonalized as well so we would face Northern/Western European teams.

Nations that were left in this seasons 2nd Qualifying round were as follows:

Azerbaijan

Turkey
Croatia

Sweden
Macedonia
Belarus

Serbia

Finland
Switzerland
Bulgaria

Albania
Ukraine

Israel

Czech
Estonia
Moldolva

Holland

Lithuania

Slovakia
Romania

Georgia

Slovenia

Luxemborg

Russia
Latvia

Norway

Bosnia
Cyprus

Poland

Denmark

Ireland
Kazakhstan

Armenia
Austria

Hungary

Belguim
Greece

N. Ireland

Iceland
Montenegro

Scotland

40 Different possible destinations (not including Scotland) there!

I would quite like Croatia, Iceland or Cyprus.

IIRC you can't be drawn against a team from the same country as you.

Yeah, that's correct. I was looking at this years draw as well and noticed St. Johnstone got Turkish opposition - my memory of it being regionalised is maybe from a few seasons back. It didnt appear at all regionalised this year!
