Incredibly, this technically starts tomorrow!
We don't enter until the 4th Round (which is now in 'back' in its traditional January slot), but the draw for the opening stages is being held tomorrow at Hampden. Davie Moyes drawing out teams he'll never have heard of!

Interestingly, no 'first time' winner has retained the trophy since the 1870s.

To my knowledge, this seasons competition will have the most ever clubs with 92. And with 2 preliminary rounds scheduled, there are effectively 10 rounds of competition - again a record.
In the old North of Scotland Qualifying Cup, if I remember, the 16 Highland League teams had to win two games to reach the semi-finals, and qualification to the Scottish Cup.
Then (the Scottish Cup) had 4 rounds before the quarter-finals...so a total of 9 matches to win the whole thing! (sometimes even a bye in Round 1 was a possibility).

But this season's marathon means that when we enter, 5 of the 10 rounds will already have been played, and 60 of the 92 clubs will have been eliminated!

The 2 preliminary rounds are drawn tomorrow with the Scottish Amateur Cup winners involved for the first time - apparently a team called Harestanes from Kirkintilloch who play on a public park!

Rather than just moan on here about it, I have just written to the SFA Chief Exec about it.  I don't suppose I'll even get any sort of reply, but I'll keep you posted.

well (literally), it is no surprise that we will be away agaaaaiiiin if we manage to get past Stirling! Rangers at home agaaaain too.

Away from home again.  It seems that we've barely had a home draw in either cup the last few years.

We will need to beat Stirling first. If we do manage somehow to defend our trophy it will be very hard fought and even more well deserved....

What a shitey draw! And I'll be the one to start on about the OF but yet again Sevco are home and Sceptic get an easy draw...there's a surprise! None the less, we won it last year and there no reason we can't again! Just a little bit tougher to start with!

Not sure if games against away at Paisley and Partick could be considered easier than Stirling and Motherwell away. I am glad that we escaped the OF and the Jam Tarts.

yeah I guess so, Motherwell just seems to be a game I never expect us to win! Not that partick games have been that great but rhers just something about Motherwell I hate! Got to beat any team to win the cup so this ones no different

Not a good one for us, but looking at the draw, the only team that can justifiably and confidently expect to be in the last 8 is Celtic.

Edit: Oh, and perhaps Partick Thistle!

Full draw

Motherwell v Stirling Albion/Inverness Caley Thistle

East Kilbride/Lothian Thistle v Celtic

Dundee United v Partick Thistle

Dunfermline/Ross County v Linlithgow Rose/Forfar Athletic

Rangers v Kilmarnock

Annan Athletic v Greenock Morton

Dumbarton v Dundee/Falkirk

Hearts v Hibernian

After avoiding the OF and Edinburgh clubs, I think we probably got the hardest tie we could. Away from home again, lets hope that we continue to get better over the next few weeks - last year we had a replay in 4th round V's St Mirren back at home, then away to SPL opposition in Partick Thistle......maybe there is a pattern emerging?

You mean that by the semi final stage our fans will be pulling down players in green and white hoops in the box ?......

What do you mean "again"? Is that not being a bit hard on a new club in just their fourth Scottish Cup campaign?

Spare a thought for East Kilbride and LT-HV being patronised to death by the west central Scottish media.

And Celtic fans complaining about another away tie - despite the actual fixture! Always something to moan about!

Yes, if East Kilbride win it, Celtic will have to cross the river, and travel half the distance from Inverness to Dingwall!

Maybe they're just worried because they don't know which station to get off at.

All of it, showed that last year and its not like the rest of Scottish football has got a lot better since then to stop us :-)

Yngwie--Take heart since it's never over until the fat lady sings.

But Partick would be a hard match--in the past they have been our nemesis and no mistake. This year they have another good squad and a manager who also seems to be attack minded and dedicated to playing neat and aggressive soccer.(Oops , sorry--I meant football). They have a newly-arrived foreign player in the squad don't they who says he had options but PThistle because he liked the attitude of the manager .?

Hibs Versus Hearts should be a bit of a corker. Imagine getting  Hearts in the fInal--would be nice to ring the changes away from the old firm wouldn't  it?
