Niculae back in internaitional squad

What odds on Niculae getting call up to romanian squad for friendly with israel?

Glad to see the Romanian International Assistant Manager phoned him the other day to say he's being considered. Something to do with "keep scoring and we'll call you up"... I'd be happy with that  :021:

Pretty good if he can get a double on sunday.

Would that be our fourth international?  Brown, Hastings, Black, Niculae.  Not sure?

We should let him take the penalties to get his goalscoring tally up.

We tried that!

Though it really was a freak save by Makalambay.

He hit that pen straight down the middle (a bit like Rankin's against Celtic), except the Hibs goalie's freakishly long legs saved it (hit his foot I recall).

I'd be confident with him taking all our pens in future, as Wilson, Wyness and Tokely have never impressed me over the years with their pens...

If you are including Blackie in the Internationalists, you might have to include the likes of Dargo, Rory, Zander, Vigurs and Kerr??

The only players to win a FULL International cap whilst at the TCS are Richard Hastings and Davide Xausa.

All the others either earned them before coming to us, got "B" or "Future Squad" caps, or youth caps, none of which really count do they !

BBC Gossip has this line from a Sun story:

"Inverness striker Marius Niculae has been told by Romania boss victor Piturca that his recent form could lead to a place at Euro 2008". Can't find the full story on the Sun's horrible website.

I'd still be really surprised if this happens for Marius. Was reading today about his injuries. He had reconstructive surgery to his left knee and he still has two pins in his right foot after a fracture of his fifth metatarsal. For all of his class on the ball, his movement around the pitch always looked hampered by some kind of injury.

You on the bottle again Mr. McKenzie?
