May I suggest that we bring back Brewster for the months of June and July and allow him to spearhead pre-season training. Ya can all say what ya like about him but we fair sprinted out of the blocks last season and we looked far fitter than the rest of the bunch early doors.

Who is being charged with the pre season torture this year? They really should follow the training regimes, discipline and diets.

The way things are going at Tannadice, Brewster could well find himself at a loose end over the summer.

The need for first class pre-season training is important. For years we were slow starters.

However, the last time fans called for Brewster's return they got 1 win in 14 and saw their team taken apart bit by bit as the Chosen One imposed his personality on the club from a footballing city.

True - we sprinted out of the blocks last season. But without Craig Brewster's 6 early goals our start to the season might have seemed more like like a crawl than a sprint. Thankfully the other Craig - Dargo - found his goalscoring touch in time at a time when CB stopped scoring. It is Craig Dargo's 20 goals that really set the heather on fire though.

But you are right. We need to keep our fitness levels up the standards that Craig Brewster set. And hopefully that will happen for next season too.

Our fitness was excellent under Parky before the arrival of Brew, and will continue to be so.

The man was a complete disaster, and Malky was not respected by the players.

Thankfully we got shot of them before they had to opportunity to cause any longstanding damage to the club.

They are a laughing stock and have successfully proved their absolute ineptitude in a short while at Tannadice.

Benchy, don't mistake banter for real life. Brewster took us to another level, we have since then realised that there is more to life than being fit, we have now moved on and are capable of playing better foorball than we did when Brew was playing. We don't use the target man approach as much, preferring to play forward on the wings. I believe we miss Brew more as a striker than as a Manager. He was normally very good at holding and shielding the ball before being able to play someone in. We can now use the pace of Dargo and the touch of Wyness to create and score goals, therefore based on that we are not missing Brew as much as we thought we would when United made that initial approach for him. As we say up here, onwards and upwards, or in Brew's case, onwards and downwards.

My opinion certainly hasn't changed.

I thoroughly disliked Brewster and Malky from the day they joined ICT.As a player Brewster has the distinction of being the only ICT player ever who I could not be positive about.

As a Manager he was, and is, absolutely clueless.

CC, (well backed up by Parky) is his own man with his own ideas - he's doing a great job with what he has at his disposal - He will maintain the progress that has been made over the past few years. Assuming we can hang on to all our key players, and maybe even add to them, a top six position is well within our reach next season.....

This club will progress no matter who the manager. Nobody has ever come in and made sweeping changes. They've all brought a little bit of something but its the players who have responded. Pele brought an attack minded set up. Robbo added a defense to that. Brew brought a fitness aspect and got the squad bonding more by having them together for lunch each training day. He also gave them some Greek ideas on diet. CC will bring his style into it but he wont undo what has been built up thus far.

I spoke to Barry a while back and he reckoned that if he hadn't had the proverbial kick in the pants about his weight and fitness he would likely be looking at ending his playing career pretty soon. As it was he took on board what Brew had said to him, he shed a few pounds and now works hard on staying fit. He reckons theres no reason why he cant now go on for a couple or three more years.

Managers come and managers go as do players but its ICT who make success and will continue to do so.

On the park, on a good day, Brewster offered something other than goals that is missing from the current team.

A battle hardened, mature player, to steady play, lay off good passes and have the younger fitter players do the leg work. If they can also finish- even better.

Rodwell Clyne in his latter years commanding the park and spraying passes to his young team mates, Jim Bett in his Aberdeen days, a later version of Rodwell, and I feel there must be more of this type becoming available to bring on the younger lads.

Maybe however an (almost) past it player is now a luxury in the SPL with such a pressure on every manager every game.

Having just watched Zola weave his (past it) magic on the TV - the above, for me, makes sense.
