Champions League Final

Featured Replies

because of all the hype it will finish a boring 0-0 and Barca will win on penalties

1-0 Arsenal (get yer money on it) :011:

1-0 Arsenal

1-0 Arsenal after extra time

Arsenal have yet to loose a goal and will shut up shop

I hope I am wrong but expect a boring game

To the nearest 10 - how many times will the commentary team mention England winning the World Cup!! :012:

2-0 Arsenal but on the other hand yyeah i d say about 50 times during the night if not more

I reckon only about seven times as there aren't that many English players in either team :001:

not enough if you ask me :001:

I can see Arsenal winning 2-1

Henry and ronaldinio will steal the show

Cant wait

I reakon 30 times they will talk about england because the show starts at 7.00 so theve got 45 mins of talking theyll have to get something about england in there

yeah i seen that the bit they had about Theo Walcott and how he is with the team as theywait to win the world cup

Thankfully Barca won despite one of the worst ever refereeing decisions. What more of an advantage is there than scoring a goal?

having the opposition have their keeper sent off & play 70+ minutes with ten men?

But would Arsenil gave preferred to let advantage be played, go a goal down but keep the keeper on?

I think they would still have been beat..

But how the commentators annoy my ***.. oh the shyte that comes out is desperate.. the one where Ronaldinho misses a snap shot, the commentator says with a very smug, sarcastic comment ' ho ho best player in the world eh?'

Plonker.

You could try what I do if you can't stand Tyldsley & Pleat - turn down the volume & listen to Radio 5 instead

Or if you have sky you could have watched it on that. I'm so glad Barca won it cause I hate Arsenal so much. I expected Ronaldinho to tear them to shreds but he was pretty disappointing.

glad ronaldhino won the cup with barca but wouldve een equally glad to have seen henry pick it up with the gunners

not really to bothered for either team but love both players and like to see them both play well!

cannae see henry staying in london now - reckon he'll want to move on to a bigger fish!

Pleased to see Henrik Larsson a Champions League winner, he deserves that kind of reward after spending most of his superb career playing for teams he was too good for. I doubt we will ever see such a good striker playing in Scotland again.

Couldn't score against ICT though!

Not bad a game as it turned out but was totally spoilt by some very bad refereeing decissions. Shame Arsenal couldn't hang on but, I suppose, Barca's class told in the end. Could have been a differant strory had it been 11 against 11.

Although the referee was por and inconsistent he didn't see to favour one team over another.

Surely the free kick which led to Arsenal's goal was as a result of a dive.

I agree that the refereeing was poor, but not particularly favouring one side over the other. He could easily have allowed Barca's 'first' goal, therefore avoiding the sending off, and the free kick for Arsenal's goal was a clear dive. 11 against 11 would have been interesting. Arsenal looked the better side in first quarter of an hour. Larsson looked very sharp when he came on and had a major hand in both goals

Aye, you're right. The Arsenal goal was the result of a bad decission. Def' a dive that one.

However, I did here that one of the linesmen had to be replaced before kick-off because he was photgraphed wearing a Barca' shirt.

I had a top notch day out yesterday.

We started off down at the Trocadero where the UEFA champions festival had attracted quite a lot of fans, especially of the Barca persuasion.

Had popped down on Saturday before the crowds and the ymip under fives almost managed to knock the champions league trophy off it's plinth. Cue distressed security guard and a shart exit for the ICT crew.

Hung around down there for a bit before heading in to town for a few beers.

There was plenty of supporters knocking about but a far cry from my experiences on Scotland away trips (minimal pi.shing in fountains and zero puking in flowerbeds). Quite a few gooners boozing around chatelet les halles but quite sedate stuff. The Ar.se seem to have quite a high nerd factor with plenty of clueless nic hornby wannabees. Very unlike the likes of chelsea who visited Paris last season with a very different type of crowd.

Strangely enough there was a fair few kilted up "jock gooners". I got the impression the cockernees were none too impressed with the skirted interolpers.

Headed out to the stadium for about sevenish, uplifted our replacement tickets (originals nicked in the post!) and scoofed a few proper beers as we had the foresight to sort out a wee carry-oot thus avoiding the alcohol free rubbish they punt outside the ground.

Got around to the Arsenal side of the ground to find one poor gooner had tried to scale the perimeter fence but had obviously fallen off a ticket office roof and impaled himself on the fencing! It looked quite nasty and there were a lot of police and paramedics trying to dislodge him. He was up there for ages and I haven't hear how he got on.

Spotted ex Senegal boss Bruno Metsu with a stunning young African dollybird and also bumped into Tony Mowbray who was obviously thrown by my "Alright Mogga" shout.

I thought the game itself was decent enough if not a classic. I think the reason that everyone’s commenting on the ref is that the British media have all been mumping about him as the gooners lost. If they’d won nothing would be said.

The gooners in the ground were as dull as the ones we encountered in town. Their response to Campbell's goal was pitiful. I turned around to one clueless beaut behind me and said "I guess that's Almunia coming on" when Lehmann was sent-off and he looked at me blankly and passed me to his equally clueless mate.

The Barça fans were a different kettle of fish and were bouncing the whole time. I was pleasantly surprised as we visited the nou camp on my stagger for the barca - espanyol derby and the atmosphere was pretty dire. I have to say I was well chuffed when Barca got the winner and there was clearly no way back for the Wengerboys.

All in all a very pleasant day/night out.
