Usually the only way people get updates regarding the Highland March, there's a small 'signature' on my posts or people find out through word of mouth. This time, I've decided to update people on the main forum fully. Highland March - created by fans of this very website - has seen the 8th annual event come and go, and what an event it was. FULL photo gallery and a new Diary of the HM8 goings on, are now available on the Highland March website We're already looking at possible routes for HM9, and with 'splitus daftus' (the SPL Split) coming back to haunt us, we'll have no idea where we're going until March We also have 1 new recruit already on board for HM9, so a huge welcome to 'BA' - he also completed his first 14 mile training-jaunt without side effects just the other day. Have a look at the website. There's photos and diaries for every Highland March. There's a brief history page also, as well as training tips supplied by Gringo and Yompa.1 point

As nothing seems to have been confirmed, except a few it seems going to Iona Bar. Whereabouts will everyone be going for some pre-match beverage consumption on Saturday? Would be good if we could get a lot of people to meet in the same place for some drinks, craic and ICT karaoke. Suggestions?1 point

CTO Certainly has alot to answer for :-) The E&WMBICTFCSCC (East & West Midlands Branch of Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club Supporters Club, Club) was born because of this site - We even went to the 'Bee-hive' to watch the Rangers match then sang to a Hearts fan at a German Beer Market in the middle of Birmingham... Surreal hey?! CTO is responsible for many other things also. The Highland March for one - Something I hold close to my heart and enjoy dearly. Through HM and CTO, I met my wife (aka MarcAndCourtneysMum/CuteCaleyChick/MrsJnr). So many stories to tell, so little time.1 point

From todays Scotsman: EDINBURGH PREPARES FOR A HIGHLAND INVASION BY EWEN "SQUIRREL" MCMURRAY Lothian and Borders Police have today announced that the force will be cancelling all leaves for Saturday 11th September 2010, as Leith prepares itself in readiness for a potential human hurricane. The National Criminal Intelligence Unit (NCIU) has received reliable information which suggests that two of the most notorious football "firms" in Scotland are planning to stage a full membership "union" - called the Gathering - at the Hibernian versus Inverness Caledonian Thistle SPL league game. The two firms - "The Mob" and "The Sesh Army" have been rumoured to have been in the throes of amalgamation for several months, and Police Surveillance Units have noted that there has been an increasing mingling of the two factions at recent ICT away fixtures. Bob Plod of the NCIU stated that "There has been evident increasing activity at many of the recent ICT matches where incidents have been monitored, reprted and observed - A fun loving Greenpeace Steward was jostled, hustled and abused at Greenock; a faction of the ICT support stood and chanted incessantly at Dumfries, the frivolity and pitch invasions carried out in Ayr were reminiscent of Wembley 1977 and there were mass expulsions from Tannadice where a steward was rushed to hospital with a scratched tupperware box." PC Plod advised members of the public to avoid direct confrontation but reassured them that many of the potential noise makers were fairly easily recognised - half of them are bald and fat and the others are young and trendy. Their apparent battle cry is "Stand Up For The Caley Jags" and the noise levels and atmospheric problems appear to increase when they perform their War dance or "Haka" which has the curious tradition of taking off one of their shoes and waving it in the air. Meanwhile the Leith Central Community Council met urgently yesterday. They are arranging for all local residents to be issued with free ear plugs and are in the process of soundproofing the local Drill Hall in Dalmeny Street where residents can gather as a "place of safety" on the day. It is also rumoured that the Council will be employing observers from the Noise Abatement Society who will be on the streets with Analogue Sound Level Meters. Lothian and Borders Police have also reassured the council that spot checks for megaphones and loud voices will be randomly carried out. The only local business that would appear to be opening its doors to the Highland Hurricane is the Iona Bar. Its owner Harry, who also runs the Ship Inn in Ayr, told us " There have never been any incidents in here before. We tape up the windows, use plastic glasses and most of the regulars are tone deaf anyway. I will be only too happy to allow any highlander to lubricate their tonsils pre match. Local Inverness historian, Ian Broadfoot, informed us that the Gathering was not a surprise to him but was probably an event that was always going to occur. He felt that "It is a natural progression, the marriage between the days of yore and the vivality of the present and the future" "The Mob are a post merger amalgamation of the "Caley Animals" and the "Heathmount Back Bar Brigade". They are all now mature and wise individuals in their thirties, forties and fifties. Whereas the "Sesh army" have grown over the last few years and are the future of ICT - a bit of a Fan Academy really. Some say it is a bit like a Robbie and Gary reunion but I would liken it more to a meeting between Johnny Rotten and Amy Winehouse. Reprentatives of the Mob and the Sesh Army were unavailable but we met with an AndyM of the "Real ICT Sweet Rustling and Gurning Society" who stated that " My fellow sweetie rustlers and I will be monitoring the situation and will be advocating that the throng are moved en masse if they make too much noise, preferably to Tynecastle." The final word laid with David Sutherland on behalf of the ICT Board. He assured all concerned that " We are appalled by these rumours and wish to distance ourselves from any support and/or encouragement. We have always done our uptmost to prevent an atmosphere at any of our games. It is not in the best interets of ICT to allow laughing, smiling, singing, standing and camaraderie to seep back in to the stands - we have a repuation to uphold and the TCS is a glowing example.1 point

He was a decent enough 'keeper but possibly not quite SPL standard. Should find himself a berth at a part time club without too much difficulty. Still can't work out why Butcher prefered him over Esson in the final weeks of our relegation season and suspect if he hadn't we might have been spared that pain.1 point

I joined back in the days of Rivals. My major memory from that time was a story about how we were going to redevelop the stadium and the stand behind the goals was going to be called the "Dolphin End" or something like that.1 point

I rather think that Ike paniced back in Jan 2009 when ICT were in freefall and Brewster was on his last legs. A matter of days after he agreed to go to Motherwell, Brew was out the door and Butcher was in. If Brew had got the heave-ho a week earlier things might have been different. Having said that I think ICT have now got two excellent keepers.1 point

Yes, I'm sure you couldn't. Unfortunately neither could some Caley fans, who were in effect guests at Huntly's title celebration on their own patch, find themselves capable of allowing their own club to pass into history with the dignity which its own achievements would most certainly have merited. A dignity, by the way, which was in contrast being achieved with distinction at exactly the same time 66 miles away at Kingsmills Park.1 point

I think it's not only good for Pele but also excellent for Huntly FC that Forbes is in there. The man is a Huntly FC legend, a gentleman... and an avid Coronation Street fan by the way! Over the years Forbes has done a massive amount for Huntly FC, both financially and through his business expertise and his special relationship with Pele played a big part in Huntly's enormous success in the early 90s which continued for a while under its own momentum after Steve came to Inverness. As long ago as 1985, Forbes also provided a groundbreaking sponsorship for the Highland League through his company RB Farqhuar. When Dougie McGilvray came in for Pele in 1995 Forbes, as Huntly Chairman, understandably did his best to keep his manager whom he had identified as a major talent. I don't know a lot about the inside story of Huntly FC at the moment but the recent departure of a Chairman at a time when they employed and then sacked a controversial manager and seem to be drifting on the field itself does seem to suggest that all may not be well behind the scenes. If this means that Forbes is going to have a beneficial effect for them at boardroom level as well as in support of Pele then this will be especially good news for the club. I was also just wondering what will happen in the immediate futureat Huntly? Will Pele take his customary half dozen or so games to make his influence felt or is the situation so bad there that there will be an immediate and ongoing shot in the arm?-1 points
