  1. If someone did something that truly offended a person, then of course that person is well within their rights to raise it.....but that's not what we have here. What we have are a couple of users who are worried that something might have offended someone else. They throw about these claims that others would have been offended without proof, and then shoot down those who claim otherwise with statements like "how do you know?"....well, how do they know otherwise? It's exactly that kind of busy body behaviour that causes most problems and arguments. Same thing happened with the whole "Gypsy" chant scenario. Nobody from Ross C*unty had ever made a complaint, no travelling folk had ever made a complaint....it was all blown out of proportion by the poor sensitive souls that were getting offended on behalf of people who weren't actually offended by it in the first place.

  2. Apologies if this has appeared before, but I'm not a frequent visitor! Could this be a hint to a new signing?

  3. I'm going to be controversial here, because I don't have much sympathy for the referees. Yes they may well have a difficult job, but that doesn't excuse them from being as consistenty terrible as they have been. The mistakes being made by referees, not just in Scotland, but right across England as well have been slowly getting more severe. The consequences of their mistakes are greater because they're getting massive, game-changing decisions wrong. A lot of teams in the country could argue that they would be better off by a few points if referees had been doing their jobs properly. They shouldn't be excluded from abuse and criticism because their jobs are dfficult. Point is, they've been bloody awful these last couple of seasons and are rightly getting the criticism their displays have deserved. And now they've thrown their toys out of their prams because they can't hack it. They're making a big deal of this Respect Campign, but if they want respect from players, fans and management, they have to earn that respect by doing their jobs properly. You can't have respect by default. Treat others as you would want to be treated youself, as my grandfather used to say. Referees don't do their jobs to the best of their abilties, make too many mistakes, are getting too consistent in their incorrect decision making, and are robbing teams of points. That doesn't deserve respect, it deserves criticism. About bloody time too.

  4. All I remember is, he was part of a famous half back line the tims used to brag about back in the 80s: Paul McStay, Willie McStay, Greig must stay.

  5. I would've thought it'd be 4 haggis and a sheep. But heh. Most amusing! Seems people like using ICT in newspaper cartoons... This one was in the Glasgow Eveing Times a few years back:

  7. Mountains out of molehills, IMO. Any booing was coming from a handful of people at most and whilst it wasn't welcome I very much doubt it spoiled anything for anyone. In truth, I expected worse than a few, very tame, boos to be aimed at him. Had it been a normal match day with more people in the Stadium and a bit more noise then it's unlikely they would have been heard. If there's one thing that annoys me more than idiots at football matches, it's people who to go to matches and spend more time looking for things to complain about and worrying about what other people are up to instead of watching/enjoying the game themselves....and don't even get me started on the whole "being offended on behalf of others" thing.

  8. DOH - Do Elgin play in Moray ? Apologies as you clearly are just an Hellgin ersehole. Elgin fan(s) - are ther two of you DOH - I was tellin ya that ICT and Caley are from different eras Caledonian FC is not dead - the Howden End is in the Sky and still lights May I recommend a book by Charles Bannerman ICT dont look at ya as being a big game - it will be a boring walk over and even more tedious with the Moray Tawts singing songs about a club that they think died in 1994. But thanks fer restoring my reputation - first red dots in a long time - unless three of them were from you.

  12. Only in the central belt does religous bias come into football so I think I'd trust the integrity and judgement of a european ref regardless of his religion.

  13. How many times does it need to be said - the referees are not striking! They are universally not making themselves available for their part time weekend job. It's happened on an individual basis before as not every referee can do a game at the weekend but this is different in that they are ALL making themselves unavailable. Will other Scottish clubs sue Celtic over loss of earnings due to postponements?

  14. Georgeios is very obviously the expert on who's having a bit of banter or not? As for telling the ones who were booing to button it, can you just imagine the response a female would get from them? Didn't realise I was "moaning" - making an observation just like many others do on this forum, which is the whole point of it, isn't it? Apologies for taking a WHOLE day to post my comments - didn't realise there was a time limit on these things? Not really too sure why my comments have peed some of you off so much - too near the mark I expect!

  15. It's a bit of publicity, and in a place that you wouldn't expect our name to appear. Most humour is stereotypically anyway, particularly in a comic-strip. It's not like it is really offensive. I didn't say I found it offensive, I got a good laugh that I picked up so many red dots for my post though.

  18. Now this could be a rather difficult thread to administrate but PLEASE let it go on the main page - I am looking to set up a reunion of the group of lads who were dubbed the "Caley Animals", revered by the Telford Street masses, gained notoriety which was more often OTT and added on to and on to, gained a certain cult status and had others associating themselves and names added on and on. I know who the originals were. I will also be posting this on P&B and Facebook with a view to a Reunion before the Elgin game. Mantis - can I add yer name as an intermediate contact ? As far as I am concerned we were "naughty" - possibly "very naughty" !! - and we got in more than our fair share of scraps but those were the times (70's - early 80s) and we were no different to the SESH army of today. Plus it bugs me with all the "posers" and anti - merger fans - who associate themselves with a quite exclusive group of "mates" who really had Caledonian FC but also Inverness at their souls. So - let the others join - and here is the first controversy - the original idea of the "Animals" came from maself and "Stormin" Norman Gordon - now deceased - I am totally convinced that Norman was Inverness first and Rangers second and he would have been in Section G and CaleyAway today if he was still alive. Rodger MacDonald fell off a train in 1977 but he was my best mate and he would definitely be standing beside me today. He also was Inverness football through and through. The others are all alive - most are stay aways (but could come back for the Hellgin) but some of the originals are around, and at least 2 go regularly to TCS, but perhaps incognito. Lets get together and show that the "cult" of old Inverness are not as anti ICT as all make it out to be. So - if you proclaim to be an original "Caley Animal" - please post here.

  20. Wrong forum mate. I find that typical central belt humour a bit tiring. How many teams have an unbeaten run away from home to match ICT's?

  21. CaleyD - I think you'll find that I never mentioned anything about anyone being offended and I object to your comment about me throwing about claims without any proof. My ears work perfectly well and I heard comments made by those around me. Just because I pass remarks about a noticeable element of the night doesn't mean to say I'm a busybody and I can assure you I'm not a sensitive soul - in actual fact I've pretty well got a hide like a rhinoceros! It seems like I've irritated some of you "experts" by having an opinion of my own - I don't expect everyone to agree with me and I'm sure if you take a loooooong look at other posts for other topics, then the thread generally goes like that too. Perhaps having an opinion is just not tolerated by some - next thing I'll be getting a telling off for being a female????
