Wanderer confirmed my previous advice about the physicality of Soviet Bloc football. My wife had a friend in Odessa, Ukraine, whose hubby was a player and what I gained from what she said about him was that it was a profession which you did to avoid the coalminesand that he spent a lot of time on the table getting treatment for his injuries. So It woudl appear that if Adam is very serious about this supposed bid from the Russians then he should make a proviso in the contract that at the very least they fly him out to the town to have alook around. He won't know what is about to hit him, however, since the stars in his eyes and the thought of all the lolly will lull him into a false sense of reverie. 12 years ago (and apparently virtually nothing has changed much in Ukraine)I stepped off the plane in Odessa, Ukriane, as a guy with an AK47 submachine gun stood at the top of the aircraft stairs glowering at me as I exited the 'plane and carried my wee bag past him. Then someone tried to steal my case off the luggage carousel in the dingy airport whilst I let out a stentorian roar "HEH! all of which aroused the very noisy mirth of the assmebled passengers whilst said thief made off fast into the night. The next shock was watching parking tickets being handed out by coppers also carrying loaded AK47's, crumbling buildings, parks that looked as if the grass had been mown only once in a few years and so on . Nothing wrong with the people and they might take to Adam but it is he that will need a monumental adjustment in his psychologiocal make-up. Oh and that is not even talking about the corruption. You need a deep pocket for bribes to get anywhere or anything. Taxis are no probl, however, --you just wave down the nearest car and hand him a few rubles (rooblays) and Bob's yer uncle. I ended up leaving Odessa after 3 weeks really in a bit of a state of depression since I was very sad thinking that it is a damn shame that the very poor people anywhere had to live in such conditions. I also thought that it would be a damn good thing if all the children in Canada were sent over there on some kind of exchange programme so that they could come home and appreciate all that they have in this country and how well-off and blessed we have with all our relative wealth and freedom. And that is it from me--$100,000 is too small for ICT to reap a decent amount of money if they have to pay out 40% to the other club but they maybe would be advised to accept a larger bid since for sure he will be offski somewhere else in the not too distant future. Good luck to Adam wherever he ends up --it will at least be a learning experience for him, albeit he may be a bit too young to be thrown into the bearpit quite yet. It might either make him or break him methinks.3 points

One little problem with your stats Tug.............Our first SPL season was04/052 points

Not just a good goal. He was our Captain and scored our first ever SPL goal. To mention his name in a thread about "worst" players in the SPL is ridiculous, disrespectful and ignorant.2 points

Was checking the SPL website earlier for something else and looked at the stats ..... Seems ICT are the only SPL side not to have had anyone see red this season and are equal with Motherwell and Rangers for the lowest total of yellows ..... seems St Mirren (and Aberdeen) are the cloggers this year !!! Yellows St Mirren 41 Hearts 38 Aberdeen 37 Hamilton 37 St Johnstone 37 Kilmarnock 34 Hibernian 33 Celtic 32 Dundee Utd 32 Inverness CT 28 Motherwell 28 Rangers 28 Reds Aberdeen 4 Hibernian 4 St Mirren 3 Celtic 3 St Johnstone 2 Motherwell 2 Kilmarnock 2 Rangers 1 Dundee Utd 1 Hamilton 1 Hearts 1 Inverness CT 01 point

It seems he wouldn't be allowed to sign fior Wolves but stay at Dundee, but I'm not sure if its because of SFL rules or Dundee's signing ban. But if Dundee need the transfer fee now and Wolves don't need the player until next season, perhaps they could buy and loan him to us?!1 point

Resigned now to losing him. Wish Adam would come out and say he wants to move on. Just hope he doesnt go to another spl club.1 point

I doubt they'd take any notice to be honest. As harsh as it is considering TB is completely against it, I'd rather just get on with it now and support our team and hope big Tel can keep his unbeaten record against Rangers with us.1 point

Once again the SPL organise to suit the Glasgow mob.TB was quite right in saying two trips up and down the A9 in four days is out of order, when the same SPL were calling off games to suit those coming up our way due to so called bad weather. That is the same guys trying to barnstorm a new league setup1 point

he was captain and virtually ever-present in our first season in the SPL - enough said!1 point

If I was the club I would tell them to feck off. ICT have worked damn hard (and spent extra money) over the last few weeks to ensure they got games on and weren't adding to the fixture congestion, so for the SPL to turn around and pull something like this on them is bang out of order. Tough titty on Rangers if they are facing problems fitting games in, it was their inability to provide a usable stadium (game was cancelled due to burst pipes) that caused the problem so they should have to suffer the consequences, not us.1 point

If this is the same Krasnodar I regularly visited when working in Southern Russia then AR should think very long and very hard about it. It's a wasteland populated with alcoholics and local mafia thugs. The football is brutal, AR would be knocked about like a rag doll and spend more time on the treatment table when he wasn't trying to fend off the approaches of local 'businessmen'. I hope he has an ambition to live a complete hermit's life for the duration of his contract because he'll find there is nothing remotely entertaining or distracting save the discoteks that make Elgin nightspots circa 1971 (cite. IHE match preview) seem like the millionaire's club at the Copacabana. Adam, I wish you well in whatever move you make. But think about it hard my lad.1 point

Lot of dreamers expecting 500k lol, Rangers look to be lucky to get near that for Kenny Miller and he's got International experienece (not saying that makes him good btw) My personal view is that if we are getting 50-100k for him, minus the Stoke 40%, then its not worth letting him go. He may want to leave now, but has a legal contract so will have to stay to the summer, I'd keep him in the hope he scores a few goals and gets us a cup run and as high in the SPL and thus prize money as possible. Possibly between the 2 competitions we could get the 30-60k in prize money to cover what we would loose out on by not selling - plus it gives us til the summer to start scouting replacements. Wouldnt want to sell for a pittence, then struggle for goals over the next few months and drop away in the competitions. Doesnt matter if its Russia, Turkey, Englandshire or SPL we dont have to let him leave right now, he can sign his pre-contract and get on with playing.1 point

It's very clearly not a bad move for Rooney. He gets to play in a higher ranked league for at least five times as much money.1 point

I think Adam will be the next Wyness. This club has been good for him but we had to put a lot of time into developing him to get some rewards. Obviously I wish him well but I fear he'll be back to square one when he leaves. On top of that, although there's a lot to his game, I don't think he's a natural finisher.0 points

500k seems very reasonable to me... Niculae went for the same, but had international experience. And lets be honest, he didnt have that much of an impact on our squad. Good player to watch, but surprised he went for so much. Rooney on the other hand is yet to reach his peak, has scored in over 45% of his appearences, and would certainly be missed should he leave. Goodwillie is est at 1.5 million - I'd have rooney over goodwillie any day of the week. There's no doubt way more comparisons to make, but i certainly think 400-500k is the lowest we should be seeking. I would, however, prefer he stayed and outscored dennis, and beat rossco's appearences. THEN he really would be a true legend-1 points

The St Mirren game next week was postponed as they have a cup replay with Peterhead. SPL decision to reduce Rangers fixture backlog while they can.-1 points

for the record :- First Season, 03-04 in the SPL, yes an ever present (34 Games) second season,04-05 (37 Games) third season 05-06 (14 games) fourth season.06-07 (1 Games) fifth season 07-08 not at ict sixth season 08-09 not at ict seventh season 10-11 this season yes he started off great but i am not sasying he is one of our worst players. i personally haven't forgotten the incident irefered to in my original post when he threw away the captains armband (I believe against St Mirren) and for that i wont ever be as big a fan-1 points

Not just a good goal. He was our Captain and scored our first ever SPL goal. To mention his name in a thread about "worst" players in the SPL is ridiculous, disrespectful and ignorant. IGNORANT???? how does that become ignorant. if he was such a good player for us he would have been in the team, he would have survived after the injury and would have bounced back. i am not saying he was one of the worst but there have been plenty far better than him. and if you look back to my original comment you will see i was pointing out that this thread is about the spl not the first division-2 points

It might be hard on the Glasgow/central belt based away support, but if the SPL and/or Rangers won't reconsider, I think a boycott for this one would be in order.-2 points
-
That was my point really, hence the little clip. We all make mistakes, being "superior" is one I'll just have to learn to live with. "And to think he'd only just come from the hospital". Back on topic, we won't have a better chance of a good run for a long time now that Killie and Hearts are out and Rangers and Celtic are drawn together. Can we hold onto Rooney though?-2 points
