What about the 1800 to 1900 season ticket holders that provide money to the club each year and give money direct to OUR club. Do you not care about them going? ( by the way I go home and away) Why are these people choosing this game as one to attend? Because its a cup semi with the chance of profession to a final (which is of course a massive achievement for us) My issue is where were they when it was a baltic day in Perth or when we battled back from 3 nil down at Tannadice. There are people travelling huge distances to this game because they recognise it as potentially an historic occasion and I respect that. But if we assume all the regular away fans are ST holders then there are 1600+ others who do not regularly travel away and I have to question why. OK. I'll bite. This smacks a bit of the "only the regular away fans are real fans" nonsense that crops up from time to time. Time for a reality check here I think. There is a small minority who regularly go to away matches and make a lot of noise. That's fantastic. Obviously those fans personal circumstances allow them to do it. But amongst those are a few who are central belt based and who don't get to all the home games. Some will actually attend fewer games in total than those who attend all the homes games but don't travel. In another post you talk about folk being disrespectful but in doing so you are being disrespectful of others. OK, so there are a lot of season ticket holders who don't go to away games but there are also a lot of season ticket holders who aren't able to get to all the home games but have supported the club by buying a season ticket all the same. Respect to them, please. Bear in mind also that supporting the club at home puts more cash into the club's coffers than going to an away match. And it really is disrespectful of the many hundreds of fans who go to home games who are rarely able to go to away matches because of work and family commitments. Just be grateful that so many have been able to rearrange their lives so that they can support the team on Saturday. Remember too that there are many who, because of their health or the health of loved ones they care for simply can't travel. Of course we would all like the support to be bigger but we all have our personal reasons for whether we choose to attend any game or not. If you are able to get to most games then that is just great. For whatever reason, most supporters go to half the games or less and if we want the club to flourish we should make them all feel welcome whenever they are able to or choose to come to a game. Make them feel welcome and who knows, they just might help swell the ranks at the next away league game.8 points

I'm with you Laurence but I'm English and live in Lancashire so I know not a lot about it. I'm a part time Caley supporter and mainly support Burnley in the Championship. On Saturday, Burnley are at home to Birmingham with a chance to get within a point of a play off position. I'll be at Easter Road though because, to me, it is the biggest match, yet, this season for either Burnley or ICT. If others think it's not a "big" match, then that's fine. The main thing though is that it's ICT''s biggest match this week! I find all this talk about "only" 2000 going to be depressing. I think it's fantastic that so many people are prepared to travel. Inverness to Edinburgh is not that much less than my journey from Preston!3 points

Usually hate a footballing cliché; but as the saying goes "if we play our normal game, we have nothing to worry about". We go into this semi after a thumping and convincing win against Pa Broons mob. If the fans show confidence in the team and support them vocally too it'll hopefully pass on the belief that they can continue their amazing form. One things for sure, I'd rather be an ICT player going into this game than a Jambo2 points

No doubt Brown will openly admit that Shinniesta would be making a mistake by moving to Aberdeen and he should stay at ICT to develop more as a player like he was recently doing with Ryan Fraser.2 points

As far as I am concerned I do not give a feckin hoot how many tickets we have sold or how many peeple will be there. The bottom line is that the majority who turn up will be the faithful and that is ALL that matters. Put us devoted cnuts into the smallest fecking patch of Easter Road and we will outsing any bestards on the day. All i can advise is to lubricate yer feckin tonsils and get ready to die fer the feckin cause.1 point

I will add to the above my own circumstances. I work abroad. I'm away for four weeks at a time. Thats four saturdays. I have two season tickets. I've been to three home games so far and might get to another three before the end of the season. People have other priorities in life and can't always be there every week to support their team. They do it in many other ways than attendance though.1 point

I know many of those extra's you talk of and I know that many of them do make an effort to get to an away game. Because of costs, family and work commitments they usually have to decide which game to travel to. As it is this week sees them all get together at the same away venue. Look around you on saturday. Many faces will be recognised as having been at an away game somewhere.1 point

I would be delighted if this was a first ever game for many Inverness locals who wanted to come along and see what all the fuss was about and fill up the famous five stand, its the future and the way forward, whereas you would rather repel them all and keep it at 1001 point

Eh! You mean drop down to the 4th tier and then have one good cup run? No thanks. We are comfortably above Hearts in the league and should be favourites for this.1 point

Butterflies are a good sign. We are the diddy team against a team that has been to many finals and earlier this year played very well against Liverpool in the Europa league. The supporters need to work hard for the team and the City once the nerves subside. Let's hope we can do a Bradford!1 point

Me too! The sensible bit of me knows that if we play the way we have been doing we will win! However, as always t big occasions the nerves kick in or me. Bring it on!1 point

I think what Laurence is trying say is that it is a big game when everything is taken into context (i.e. falling crowds, girns about the quality of scottish fitba, the amount of vultures that are circling our players, the state Hearts are in etc.) In fact it's probably the biggest game he's known. Others will feel differently, but it's better than the OF obsessed feeling nothing at all! Personally, I think that the numbers going are about right for our fan base over the past few years and they will make a racket win, lose or go to penalties (please god, anything but that) No doubt thousands more will go to the final if we are fortunate enough to get there, but I'll no be slagging them. If even a few decide that they will keep coming to see the team that will be a result.1 point

Look at it anyway you want . This is the biggest game ( in my opinion) in the clubs history , Go to it guys. I just wish I could be there but family reasons prevent that. Enjoy your day out Treat every big day game as precious. Hearts are a famous old club, their fans have got spoilt with many big games in the past , ICT are young and building a reputation. This is new and unknown territory this is fantastic for the City of Inverness and the club.1 point

Maybe only for a couple of dozen hours. So far, St Mirren have shifted fewer tickets than we have. That is embarrassing for St Mirren when it is close enough for them to get to.Why is there such an apathy towards this cup these days do you think,is it because they have taken away the european spot or do people just not have enough money to go? i think years back the earlier rounds were included in a season ticket I know it has been devalued in England for a long time but in Scotland it has been the chance for many clubs to actually win a bit of silverware. maybe it just needs a revamp to get the fans excited again, think its sad that one of our national competitions is treated this way I was thinking along these lines today. Would a two legged semi-final generate more interest? A european spot would help the teams but would supporters be excited? Thought about the 2 legged affair myself but it looks like it's hard enough to get the fans interested in a one off game. really not sure what can be done to sort this cup out,i know they are talking about moving it back to early in the season and have the final in October like it used to be,have to say i used to love it when it was early in the season final usually the weekend the clocks went back under the floodlights at hampden. But i don't think that will be enough to get the fans back watching, not even sure the european place will save it now but we have to try and change it somehow. Would be very sad to see one of our major cup finals dissappear,TGFITW are the worst of the lot and probably wont sell their allocation, looking at pictures from parkhead this season it looks like they aren't such great fans when it comes to Scottish football without the other cheek1 point

I for one would rather have the whole bottom tier sold out full of fans of the club that want to go and have a great time and make a vibrant atmosphere than sell the whole stand and have many people sitting there in silence like home games. So we haven't sold out does it matter all that matters is the result not how many fans we can generate1 point

IMHO if we take 2000 to a league cup semi in January, that's really pretty good. It means that loads of people who are either unable or unwilling for whatever reason to go to away league matches are sufficiently excited by the team reaching the semi final of this secondary cup competition to make the effort and devote the whole day to go. That sounds really positive to me. The semi final is, after all not the final and is only one game after the quarter final when we played away at Ibrox - a rather tasty prospect in anybody's book I would say. And how many went to that game? I don't know but I'll bet it was not a lot more than our usual away support (I'll also bet someone will soon correct me if I'm wrong). If we get to the final we will get a significant increase in our support and if we get to the final of the proper cup we will get even more. Kingsmills makes the extremely relevant point that Celtic and St Mirren have sold just 13,000 for their clash at a ground local to both clubs. We are taking over half our normal home gate to a ground nearly 150 miles away. The 2 of them between them are taking about a quarter of their normal home support to a local ground. A league cup semi final is simply not the greatest attraction there is and as far as I'm concerned if we have 2000 at Easter Road that will represent a excellent turnout. Bring it on!1 point
