Last season under Butcher, from mid December to end of season we won 6. In the same period this season, Yogi has won 5 already. Similar form to last season. Aye keep hearing this going backwards stuff but the stats really dont show this as youve said. From clear in second with games in hand to struggling to fend off St Johnstone for fifth. I'm confused. In what respect is that not going backwards ? Will your glass ever be half full. You say we're struggling to fend of St Johnston. I say we're fighting to overtake Dundee United. I'd also say that this going backwards, as you term it, is nothing to do with the current manager but more to do with the upset in rhythm by the previous one leaving. Some folk talk like we are Man U or some such. We are equal to ten other teams in this league and fighting for points just like the rest of them. At the end of the season I'll decide if we've gone backwards but as things stand I believe we'll pick up a few more points. Surviving a second season in top half and getting to a cup final, only losing on penalties, has to be seen as going forward a little.
  2. Very saddened by this news. A real gentleman of great humour and character. When I first deployed to Afghanistan he wrote and held my will entirely free of charge and had been my solicitor ever since never once willing to take a penny for his services. I saw him not two weeks ago and having taken ten minutes to conduct the business we needed to he proceeded to spend almost an hour of his clearly busy day chatting to me about a variety of subjects, he was a credit to his profession and an absolute gentleman. A true loss to the city of Inverness.

As the above says a 3-2 home victory for ICT. Overall impression is that I thought the work rate of the lads in the second half especially was something to be proud of in the manner we managed to turn 1-2 at half time into a 3-2 win. First half started very frantic with Dundee United passing the ball smoothly along the ground. I can see why the likes of Gauld, Robertson, Armstrong have done well for Dundee United. We conceded a free kick on Dundee United's right hand side just outside the box. Dundee United had a clean strike from the free kick on target with the Dundee United young defender slotting in the rebound. After the goal, the game then settled down with Dundee United dominating majority of the possession with slick one two passing. Dundee United's striker Tumilty got the the ball from outside the box and with a few skilful moves and struck the ball into the net it was then 2-0 to the visitors. I think after that goal we changed the shape of the team with Nick Ross playing behind Evans and Williams pushing a bit forward. Our first goal of the game then came through a mistake from the wide left from a United defender with the ball being played through to Adam Evans who found the net starting off our comeback. Conor Pepper got injured just before half time. I think it was a head knock that which he came back on the pitch but I think it got too much for him and eventually got replaced by young Jamie Wilson. He showed some nice touches and was played on the wing in the first half. Second half was really good from ICT. The passing was something I would highly praise and we found some good spaces in the attacking areas. Our equaliser then came from Jamie Wilson who I think is only 16 years old got the ball on the edge of the area and nicely struck it in the back of the net. I was really impressed with Jamie Wilson last home game vs Hearts which scored at and now again tonight. If he keeps up that sort of form at U20s he could have a bright future. The 3rd goal from was a volley inside the box. Interestingly in the post above I see it mentioned that Evans got the goal but from where I was positioned it looked like it was an own goal but if it was Evans or an own goal their keeper wasn't going to save it. In terms of first teamer performances I thought that Nick Ross had a good game linking up well with Adam Evans being a good playmaker of our attacks. Danny Devine had a solid game despite the two goals conceded. Liam Polworth had a good game holding the midfield but he was a bit too mouthy with the ref at times. Danny Williams for me was the best of the first teamers. His energy is something I say after every U20 game. He got the ball from deep and just burst through on a solo run into the wing but unfortunately lost the ball - it was really impressive to watch. All the players for me get pass marks and what a thoroughly deserved victory for the U20s! Next game vs Dunfermline on Thursday 6pm

Its a bit ironic looking back at the comments Butcher made early on in his Hibs tenure where he compared them to Marks and Spencer, and ICT to Aldi. If you look at the retail sector, it's the discount stores like Aldi and Lidl who are on the rise, while the more established franchises like Marks and Spencer are struggling.

Bump. Just a reminder that we have a U20 game at 6pm tonight at TCS vs Dundee United. Could you maybe post a list of which U20s you think should or shouldnt be kept? After the game at is Certainly Rival. Cammy MacKay - A younger keeper that has done really well in the U20s and makes top saves. I remember his first game for the U20s, it was a home game vs St Johnstone and he saved two penalties. He's done well when plays and done very well despite conceding two goals tonight. He went on loan to Clachnacuddin for a month (Not sure how that went) but he's done good. - Keep Nick Draper - He really impressed me vs Hearts 2 weeks ago and made some excellent saves but last month vs Rangers he made a few howlers. Hard to say really but I have already stated I would rather Cammy MacKay but would be interested to see what Draper has to offer. I think money will be the deciding factor - Release Matthew Cooper - Always impresses me when plays and his defending is really good. He is definitely good enough to be a back up but he has been hampered with too many injuries. - Keep Jason Brown - Again another player that impresses me time and time again and I always remember him scoring a bullet header against Clachnacuddin in a friendly. I personally would keep him but send him out on loan for half a season. - Keep Joe Gorman - A very interesting character despite all his social media shanigans he is a good defender and some of his deliveries in the box have been good - Keep (As long as he stays out of trouble) Calum Howarth - A player I would definitely keep but as already stated he is leaving - Release Conor Pepper - Defintelty worth a new deal especially a back up for David Raven at right back if nothing else. He has the talent but hasn't been given the time. He is a player that would sign up for another year but loan him out for half a season and try and prove himself. - Keep Ali Sutherland - Plays a very similar game to Aaron Doran and links up very well with Evans. Scored goals vs Celtic and Rangers youth teams. It would be a massive mistake to let go. - Keep Adam Evans - Holds the ball up very well and I personally feel him and Billy Mckay would work very well together. - Keep Jay Cheyne - I can't remember the last time he played. - Release
  8. Held the AGM of the West Midlands (Ross Draper's beard) ICT Supporters club tonight. Hoping to bump the membership up to two by the next meeting so I've someone to hand over to when I move back to Inverness this summer.
  9. Will miss his professional direction and advice - RIP - looks like only the bad living live long.
  10. What a shock, didn't know him by name, just at football to say hi to. Thoughts with his family

Moyes has just been sacked by ManUre and he had a 53% win rate ;-)) Matches: 51 Wins: 27 Draws: 9 Losses: 15 Win %: 53
  14. A real shock. Iain was a very decent man and conversation with him seldom took long to turn to ICT. Condolences to those closest to him.
  15. Great supporter and a fine man. Will be missed. RIP.

Sneckboy--c'mon, he has only recently got his feet under the table. Be fair and stop comparing him to other folks in a different era.
  17. Lovely man. So sudden. RIP my friend.
  18. Held the first meeting of the Chorley ICT FM Supporters Club today. Only 33% less attendance compared to London and that was becos my daughter wasn't allowed in the pub.

I think the point being made is that while not necessarily habitual, we are no strangers to the mid-season or second half of the season slump ... I recall that happening more than once, and as correctly pointed out, last year was the most recent example. So are we going backwards or are we merely doing exactly what we did last year and in (some) previous years regardless of who is in charge? Hughes is getting a lot of **** thrown at him for everything from his tactics to his eloquence (or lack thereof) and yes he must take some of that on the chin as he is the manager and he does select the team and tactics - some of which have been a bit bizarre - but some of the vitriol is over the top. way over the top. Like many, I remain to be convinced that Yogi is the right guy, but definitely not calling for his head yet. Would we have won the final with Butcher still at the helm? who knows, he decided to leave us. Would we still be second with Butcher still in the dugout? who knows, he decided he needed a fresh challenge. Did Butcher give us a second thought when he was quaffing down the hospitality in the home section when we were playing Hibs whilst he was still ICT boss? Did he **** he seemed to enjoy the chaos he caused! I hope he enjoys the Championship next year, until he gets sacked before Christmas when it is clear he is not going to experience the same one season bounceback that he did here.. Getting back to Hughes ... I think you can glean a lot from social media these days. Before Twitter/Facebook and such like you needed to have someone on the inside giving you information or tidbits to know how things were really going. Nowadays - and I am talking in general, not specifically about ICT - signings, contracts, injuries or bust-ups can all be found on these platforms mere minutes after they happen, and often before any official announcements. Quite a few players at ICT signed extended contracts after Hughes' arrival, and I dont think I have seen any comments on Twitter that indicate the players are unhappy or he has lost the dressing room. The cherry on top for me is Foran. This is a guy who we all expected to follow TB down the road before the exit door had actually closed but no, he has committed himself to ICT for what is basically the rest of his career ....

  21. Have to say it was a very convivial night! So interesting to see the faces behind the forum-names, the Philomena was a good venue (and easy to get to and find), they had several screens (and recievers) which meant no probs getting ICT on, and they were very helpful...we even got table service! Seem to remember watching a bit of the game! (Felt we gave Aberdeen a good game...but my usual comments re: needing another forward to help Billy out still apply) Looking forward to the next one! One day hope to see the place rocking with ICT fans...perhaps 12th Man we will get a flag to hang there when 'in residence' (and a small shout out to my other team for confirming their presence in the EPL for next season)
