  1. Top 6 is still a possibility. There are still many combinations of results which could do it for us. I've left St Johnstone out because I think they will win at least one of their two remaining games, giving them 46 points. Our best is 45 by winning all 3 games. Partick could get to 46 by winning all 3 of their remaining games, but that would mean Ross Co only getting to 43 max. Dundee could get to 46 but that is unlikely, as they have to play Celtic and Ross Co. Even if they won those two, then Ross Co could only get to 43 max. Ross Co could get to 46 by winning their last two games, but then Dundee and Partick could only get to 43 max Motherwell could get to 47 but surely will not get beyond 41 as they play us and Celtic. If we were to beat 'Well and Dundee Utd but only draw with Hearts, that would put us on 43 as well. Then it would be down to goal difference between up to 4 teams, which could be very tight indeed So, by my maths, 45 will definitely do it for us, 43 we'd still have a shout, any fewer than 43 we'll probably miss out. All still to play for then. We have to play like we did against Count for another 3 games. Come on lads, you can do it. Onwards and Upwards!

  2. Sadly I couldn't get to the game today, but what a great result! Particularly pleased to see a big swing in goal difference and for Storey to finally get on the scoresheet again. Wins like this should give the team a real lift but the fact is that our 2 previous wins against County this season have been followed by defeats against Kilmarnock in the next league match. It seems to me that the tactics for a match against County are usually different. If we adopt the attitude that it's a derby game so lefts just get in amongst them, then we seem to do so much better than when we play the patient tippy tappy build up stuff. Make no mistake about it, County are where they are in the league and they won the league cup because they are a pretty decent side this season. Had they won all 3 games against us they would be comfortably in 4th place and we would be 11th. Despite that, we have dominated them in this league season. The lesson here has to be that we are better when we play a more direct style of football. If we learn that lesson then not only should we make the top six, we should also finish the season above County.

  3. Shaun is passionate if not incredibly impulsive. Many shared his actual views if not in such a demonstrative manner. Yogi has got out of the jail (end) today but he has made many mistakes this season. Once survival is attained can we look to next season.

  4. Can I propose the match report headline: "Caley Jags reign on County's parade"

  5. What a difference when we play attacking football. If we approached every game like that we'd be a top six side just now.

  6. A great afternoon. Must confess, I was in main stand as had hospitality: it is tough loving every minute in those circumstances! Only one team wanted it today. Can't fault any of the 14 who got fame time, and it could have been more! Still glad County won last weekend, but 9 points against them in league feels good. Lets get behind the ram against Motherwell and Hearts and achieve safety. Perhaps the top 6 is back on. Well done to the team today. Let's keep up. PS the fans were truly great today but ditch the flares and the antics with the ball.

  7. Thank you, Billy! That could be huge come the end of the season! Despite Dundee United obviously struggling at the foot of the table, Billy's been doing scoring goals, as he does. A class act at this level.

  8. Sun 20 Mar 2016 Scot Premier Billy Mckay scores both goals (a penalty and an injury time equaliser) in Utd's 2-2 draw with Dundee in their derby match, a result that just about keeps our slim chance of 'top 6', alive

  9. Superb win with I think the best 90 mins performance all season. Every player played their part and in particular Storey, Draper and Warren has excellent games. Devine was also had a solid performance and made no mistakes - well done. A special mention to the fans who came out in force and gave the team tremendous backing.

  10. Great performance by all yesterday, not a weak link in the team. Standouts for me Storey, Tansey & Polworth and the fans. This was definitely needed after recent results/ performances. Cheers lads

  12. A draw today would have been a decent result for us away to County, any sort of win would have been absolutely superb, but 3-0? That's in the category of "You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!"

  14. ......if it's down to goal difference, we're in good shape. Hopefully, Celtic will put a few past Motherwell and Dundee. If we're to get to 43 points, the worst our goal difference can be is -2. I think that'd be enough. CMON!

  15. Not really an ICT player, but I just heard on Radio Scotland there that Stuart Garden (who was made redundant after we were relegated) is now the goalkeeper coach at Dundee United. I knew he was the manager of Montrose at one stage but I didn't realise that's where he was now. According to Wikipedia, he was GK coach at Airdrie for a while after that as well.

  19. Johndo , For you to say many shared his-(Shauns)- view - implies that you think his negative view to be correct .How about the rest of us? we were there was Shaun - appreciate that you may not have been for obvious=distance - reasons -but to state that Yogi got out of jail today is flippant -how about great result .If its up to you to decide what we do, if and when survival is achieved is reassuring .

  20. The difference when we have a bit of pace up top to get in behind (or threaten to) and stretch the lines. If we can keep a hold of Storey I think he will go up and up in terms of goalscoring. Good to also hear what looks like a good shape. And clinical. Just get enough points on the board. Ensure our safety, tie up who we can and rebuild the squad where required. This season has been long hard and painful. Not unexpected given our success last season. But a break and freshen up will be good going forward. Great result today.

  21. By the way interesting quote at Cheltenham festival yesterday from Victoria Pendlington. " I love to ride and have been doing it for years but I never knew what a jump really was until I met Yogi"

  22. Great result!, didn't expect that at all. was fun listening to barry wilson report through gritted teeth. Hopefully the players will take confidence from today and get back to playing the kind of football we know they are capable of.

  23. Well that makes pleasant reading. Will have to wait fear the match attenders but it looks like Yogi did eject the crazy 3-5-2 or even 3-6-1 formation. Interested to hear how we did set up. Can see the "loyalty card" to Devine at centre back and Tremarco. Would prefer Meekings in the centre and Danny Williams at left back myself. Also agree with Chris that Polworth and Vigurs do not give us enuff width. It will be interesting to see if he perseveres with Hughes as a target man. That clearly was not the initial intention but may be a master stroke. I still think that Storey wasn't match fit but I also like the look of Roberts - although Yogi does not appear to be so. Foran is more of a presence these days and I suspect was fecked after the Hibees excursion. Keep this squad fit and free of suspension and we can see this campaign out successfully. Fraid it is a case of looking forward to next season - probably minus Tansey at least. But I still do not agree that we should have "surrendered" the cup but hope that Yogi has learned a lesson from his "messing".

  25. I was starting to think we needed the goals enlarged as most shots recently have been best described as narrowly missing the target. All is forgiven today as everyone seems to have found their shooting boots.

  26. Top six may be a distant prospect now but still not quite impossible. Whether it's a last effort to get into the top six or vital points to stay ahead of the relegation battle tomorrow's trip to Dingwall is huge and a draw would favour County much more than us as it would consolidate their place in the top six and their lead over us. If we win this match and our game in hand over Hearts we will be on the same points total as the Dingwall men and could still pip them for that place in thetop six. Personally, to end the league season, for once, in their shadows would hurt almost as badly as ending up in the Championship. There is no room for negativity either on or off the pitch we need to go all out for the win. I know we are all scunnered after recent results and performances but let's get overthebridge in good heart, good voice and good numbers to roar Richie Foran and the boys to victory and take a bit of the shine off their trophy and a bit of gloss off that five minute open top bus parade around Dingwall while at the same time turning our end of season around.

  27. Not forgetting, of course, our other 'ex' at Barnsley, Sam Winnall. He has been an even more prolific scorer, and has just been nominated for the League 1 Fans Player of the Month, for the second month running. What would we give for either of them to be back here now?

    • Kelty Hearts Training Statement
What a farce we have become, a laughing stock: Did you hear the one about the footbal team from the Highlands of Scotland that want to train at Cowdenbeath? Unfortunately, unlike our board, this is not a joke. Our board are trying to rip our identity from the Highlands and replace it with shared training at Kelty Hearts. I kid you not, this is not a drill and the clowns that run our club appear to be delighted at this coup.

    • Relegation Statement
RELEGATION STATEMENT: This could have been said ten minutes after our defeat to Hamilton three days ago. So far, this is not the news that we on Caley Thistle Online wanted to hear. Pleased that we will still function as a club, disappointed that resignations have not been offered yet. Keeping fans waiting in silence for three days is unforgivable and relationships are drifting further apart than ever before. Silence is not the way forward, we deserve better as fans.

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

    • Hamilton 2-1 Inverness CT - Play off final 1st Leg
A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.
