  1. [Checks calendar - nope, 2 months and a day too early]
  2. Yes we really needed this badly. What a difference this will make to our season.

You completely miss the point a striker has to a) bang in the goals with reliable regularity or b) provide an outlet to bring others into the game and provide assists for teammates. He does neither well enough to suggest he anything other than an average Championship level forward - and no matter how many stats go up a return of 10 in 25 or 11 in 28 means even if we did get promotion he isn't good enough to step higher up. Hence why he's only even kicked around the lower leagues.
  4. White has been top scorer in five seasons for the clubs he has been in his last 5 seasons in Scotland, whether you like it or not, ot are just too stubborn to accept it. Stirling Albion 2 seasons Livingston 2 seasons Caley 1 season White can only play for a team who signs him with his teamates at that specific time .In doing so he has played for 3 different clubs and has been top scorer with them all. Thats all the guy can do, we know and he knows he aint a superstar but Caley isnt Barca either. So your comment is both stupid and derogatary to a young man that is doing his best at a club you profess to support. A wee bit more respect for a decent guy who pulls your shirt on is maybe in order.

  6. But they have as much right as anyone to not be able to hear the announcements. ?
  7. A bit of good news with some money coming to the club for Mulraney from today's P&J
  8. Long overdue. A welcome development.

I see Palace have loaned Scott Banks to Alloa, just days after signing him from Dundee Utd, (our biggest fee of the transfer window if you ignore the loan fee for Tosun who is now injured)..... since he's never actually going to play for us, I give our players permission to kick the sh#t out of him if he plays, if it means we get the 3 points

  12. Going by statistics, about 21 people will benefit from this...
  13. In reality, they're not, it's just that they haven't had to spend 3 years in the Championship losing money, and even if they had, they had someone to bankroll them. It will end in tears at some point for them, may take a few years but it will happen.
  14. When does the supporters bus leave, Saturday?

Yes, 2-2 the week after we beat them in the Caramel Wafer Cup. If we’d closed out the last few minutes, that is the day we would have gone top. Feels like an age ago!

We could always try playing Storey in shock horror his true position! The strikers get slated and tbf are in the main gash but Robbos tactics i.e. Long ball must be a part of it as well long gone are the days of silky Barca type possession footy under the messiah that was Yogi mind u lot of posters on here at the time we're dying for more direct play so they can't moan

Regardless of whether a striker scores 30 goals last season and none this or vice-versa - unless they are consistent and averaging 1 in 2 then its classed as a poor return, there are exceptions for players who create and act as great foils such as Sutton or Sheringham etc - but this is the general expectation. Its clear over the last few seasons the JW is not a top striker and while the constant defence is applauded, he will never be remembered (on current stats and performances) as an ICT great and unlikely to even make the top 10 or 15 over our history - regardless of the numbers presented. What we have at the club are 2 players who are probably better goal scorers in Toddy who never seems to get a run of games and Storey who never gets played through the centre or given chances in what (from history) was his best position. While Robbo persists with the Scottish football hoof-ball approach this will not change, regardless of JW being duff in the air we will continue to punt high balls to him, either from the backline or poor quality crosses from players played as wingers but with limited end ball product. In the past with a player like Foran, Ofere, Oakley, Fisher etc we may have stood a chance for knockdowns to the likes of Doran or Keatings but now we don't. Either the players ignore the instructions to play the ball to JW feet or our tactics don't consider playing to the strengths of our players. During training does JR see something we don't and JW dominates the defenders hoping one day that's a role he can perform in games (if so perhaps that raises questions around the quality of the defenders or effort in training or why its just no happening for JW).

That chart will look even more appealing next year when all the Dundee United players aren't on it...and therein lies the major flaw in the chart - it's the also rans, the nearly made it's, etc. All the teams of the past 3 years with the best goalscorers don't show up on it because they won the league. Even the fact that shankland & Dobbie have been scoring regulars they weren't the top scorers in their respective years (until now). So if you were to build a more complete picture, including the title winners of the last x number of years you would paint a picture that doesn't really need to be painted because we can see week in week out where our strengths & weaknesses are.
  21. Harper is a very good player. We should be pleased he is back. We can but hope there is a real coming together of the group of players we have. Financially we need to accept the position and maximise the options we have.
  22. Provan was a midfielder...we're well covered there.
  23. Could we not play them right back ? Right back to where we got them from
  24. If we somehow had kept Donaldson and McCart I'd be confident of us securing second point and having a great shot at going up in the playoffs. Losing both of them is a bitter blow to our chances. I just cannot see Mckay, McHattie or Toshney being of the level required to keep us in second spot let alone be successful in the playoffs. I hope I'm wrong but these moves significantly weaken our team and damage our chances of promotion. Another season down here is going to ruin this club.
  25. Can't say yogis team didn't work for him that's madness best times ever for us punches well above there weight for years

The bottom line is that White is simply terrible in the air. The persistence in using the long ball tactic is ridiculous. White does appear more adept with the ball played into his feet. Neither is he made to be a lone striker and he really suffers for that.
  27. My second away game of the season up from London, with an overnight stay in Ayr (nice town) and the joy of the rail replacement minibus back to Paisley on the Sunday. I have to say that Ayr United's ground really is an utter dump, easily the worst I have been to up over the border, although the Bovril was good and I enjoyed the option to stand on the wee terrace below the seating second half. The crowd looked bigger than 1,602, and not just because the home fans switched ends at half time! The highlights suggest a close game, although I felt Ayr had more chances, but we hit the bar, and quite why our goal was disallowed is beyond me...White at no time is looking at the goalie only at the ball, and I'm not convinced he even touches him. Also Doran was clearly pushed over in the penalty area, and then next time he gets a booking for going down, when you can see he catches the defender legs and is trying to regain his feet. Their goal was a bit of a bummer, at first I thought that McHattie was at fault but credit to the Ayr player who actually closes Charlie Trafford down very quickly. I thought McHattie had a decent game, as did McKay...strange how quickly our CB pairing has changed (presumably to make ends meet). For me our midfielders were the pick of the bunch, plus Walsh when he came on. Our forwards were very much powder-puff, Doran was quieter than expected, Storey didn't offer much apart from two/three decent crosses, I'm not sure what Keatings was doing and White looks like he is the Centre Forward because he's tall, because he seemed unable to anticipate where high balls were going nor jump at the right time (except for the disallowed goal), he's definitely better with his feet! For me 2nd place is probably between us and Ayr, so this was a disappointing reverse, but I guess we can't win every match against them.

nah you are right the table proves absolutely nothing Just you think what you think despite the facts as you are entitled to an opinion, so am I but I just happen to back it up with stas mate. The lad has scored over 100 goals but some on here say he isnt a goal scorer , he was out top scorer last season and most likely will be again , but hey you carry on with your negativity, What an idiot I am thinking that people would maybe just for once give our player some credit.
