This would seem to be one of the biggest days in our history in terms of off the field activities. After all the negativity, criticism and derision on this thread, I think there should be some recognition of the achievement of the club and its partners to have firstly conceived this remarkable high benefit, low risk deal, and then to push it through and overcome the considerable planning permission challenges. Morrison and Gardner have played an absolute blinder here, haven’t they?4 points

The Chairman said at the Supporters Trust Meeting on Saturday that the club will get a one off seven figure cash injection very quickly (I think he said in 10 days). There is no ongoing income stream from this. The cash injection will pay off debts and allow investment which will secure future income streams (such as the use of the North Car Park as a Park and Ride for the Red John construction workers. I agree that we need transparency as to what it means, what the plans are, what it means in the long term etc. It has to be good news though, as the consequences of rejection would have been significant and far reaching.2 points

Was a close run thing passed by 1 vote. Chair backed to refuse and that was seconded but only had 5 councillors allowed to vote and passed by 3 to 2. They have got through by the skin of their teeth2 points

I have to agree Yngwie, I had my doubts about this project thinking it was all hot air. I hope it all goes to plan now and works for the benefit of our club and the community.1 point

All that can only happen if there's anything left after clearing debts.1 point

We don’t know the detail of the transaction. The land was gifted to the club so it may be that the cash coming to the club is due to it being sold on to those developing the scheme (that is my guess though) so there has never been any scope to maintain an ongoing income stream. The Chairman did say on Saturday that the delay in planning did result in the club receiving less than it would have, as it took the deal beyond a critical milestone. We don’t know what the scale of the seven figure sum is as I don’t believe that has ever been made public. Now the challenge for the Board and CEO is to use the money wisely to secure the long term future of the club, securing the ongoing income streams (no indication to my knowledge as to what they are other than the Red John Park and Ride), making the match day experience more appealing to fans, and allowing the club to be in promotion contention next season (in the Championship, not League 1).1 point

Having a property magnate on the board, will this entail the 'battery company' pursuing more of these ventures? We (scotland) will require many more of these in the electricity dependent years to come.1 point

Given the comments of the Chairman on Saturday it does not look that simple. Lose this Saturday and stay near the bottom of the league does not generate lots of revenue. We currently do not know the true operating position of the Club and most of us listen more to the Chairman, than the CE.1 point

The Community Trust has issued an update on the Hub project. Within the article is this: “We are busy identifying other sources of funding to ensure we can realise our goal of providing our city with a first class community asset.” A link to the update: https://www.icttrust.org.uk/community-hub/1 point

This is all to try and prove that the profits from the battery farm sale will have a socio-economic benefit for the city. The document submitted by he new planning consultant is very reliant on claiming the funds will go towards a lot of projects particularity things run by the community trust. There is also a lot about the funding of the new pitches which basically claims that none of these things can continue without this money. All very odd as its always been claimed in the past that all these projects as self funded! These extracts are directly from the document submitted to HC: A significant proportion of the financial benefits accrued from the development will be managed through the ICTFC Community Development Trust. This is an established charitable Trust organisation that already provides significant benefits to the local community including funding community related initiatives; incorporating school visits to develop the importance of health and exercise, walking football, facilities to enable participation by disabled persons and school breakfast clubs. The community/charitable work is delivered by a combination of paid ATC staff, volunteers, supporters and members of the local community. The investment of time spent on community and charitable work is some 14,000 hours equivalent to 1,758 days or 352 person weeks. The Trust access funding through multiple sources which is challenging in the current financial climate and the stability of income over several years can help provide a stable platform to flourish and grow. For 2022-23 the Trust had an income of some £181,718 of which £165,000 was spent on community initiatives. The Trust delivered projects to the local community and in an educational setting equivalent to some 12, 000 hours or 80% of its annual activity. This is a considerable contribution to the area and will continue to expand and progress with the funding the BESS provides. The proposed new Hub at the IRA will enable these initiatives to be expanded and developed and increases the community benefits to the local area. The new Hub will only be capable of delivery with the funding this proposal will deliver.1 point

https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/highlands-islands/6293244/caley-thistle-to-score-from-loch-ness-hydro-deal/ Is this the to do with the battery storage thing or is this a different money spinner because I'm confused, especially as it's gone quiet ever since this article a few weeks ago ?0 points
