  1. Yep, it's true about the OF controlling Scotland to it's detriment - although I don't buy deliberate referee bias, but I won't go into that. Thing is, is someone that won't pay his players (I'm sure he makes sure he's not struggling financially), protects a paedophile, continually interferes with the football management (to it's club's detriment) and tries to ruin players when they don't want to sign contracts is one of the monkeys.

  2. Some are glad he's gone. Some think he's a big head. Some still favour him and wish him well. Who will think what if he's the one who scores the goal that will keep us in the Scottish cup. Davis has been good for our club and we've been good for his career. Neither owes the other anything. He is being noticed by, and is rated by, Mick McCarthy so has made the decision to put himself somewhere he'll get more exposure. Lets face it the lower leagues doxn south get more tv and newspaper exposure time in a month than the SPL gets in a season. The guys not bigheaded. He's ambitious and sees opportunity for success. I hope he scores for us at the weekend and goes out in a blaze of glory.

  3. As much as I have laughed at Mad Vlad and yes called him 'mad' myself I do see where some of his points come from. The problem with Vlad is he uses ridiculous language / examples. But he is correct with his assesment about the Glasgow based media and the dire state of Scottish football. However, if he is wanting to sell Hearts, he should maybe consider marketing the club in a more positive light. He is a business man after all.

  5. Only just seen this thread. He'll be delighted when I show him in the morning. Thank you all! CaleyD is right in that he's not been too good lately. He's having problems with pains his feet and is currently on a course of physio and special drinks containing various vitimins, minerals etc. He was in hospital on Christmas night and was thankfully out for new year. He was back in last night in time for more tests and physio today. The shirt was the very one worn by Ryan Esson on the final day of our title winning season - The 1-0 win over Dundee at TCS. Ryan also donated his gloves and these were also part of the raffle prize. I have a fair few signed shirts etc that i've gained over the years, and I can certainly understand how hard it is to part with them. So fair play to wee Marc! £225 well earned. He was so delighted, he wanted to raffle off all his other caley thistle gear to help the Archie.

  6. I've never used twitter or facebook and don't intend to start now. I don't know their rules and whilst I understand the outrage being expressed here, I imagine the situation is not as straightforward as we might think it ought to be. These international networks are, after all, quite different from CTO. They do not focus on a single topic, they have vastly more members and could not possibly hope to have the same level of moderation as we have here. The rules are different of neccessity. It could be argued that when someone posts something you find offensive and you report it that something should be done about it. In practice, there will not be the resource for that and in any case, just because you may find something offensive does not mean it is not a legitimate point of view. Hence you get the stock reply. Remember, opinions are just that and can change radically over a short period of time. In fact, it is astonishing how quickly attitudes do change and one only has to think about attitudes to race in the USA in particular or to homosexuality in this country to see how attitudes which were openly held by a large minority or even a majority just a few decades ago are now considered so outrageous that we question the right of others to express those views. We may find those view repugnant now but does that give us the right to stop others expressing them? I don't think so. You counter those views by the strength of argument and where such views are voiced just to wind up and offend others then simply ignoring them is the best approach. In that respect, the statement from Twitter is fair enough. You may then say that you should ban folk who break the law or who incite others to. Again, it is not so straightforward as we might like. There are times when breaking the law is entirely appropriate. For instance, you would not ban someone for suggesting that if you were in your car in a 30mph zone and you saw a tsunami in your mirror approaching at 40mph that you should forget the speed limit and put your foot on the gas. And would you ban folk from Twitter for suggesting that the people in Syria should oppose the regime there? I sincerely hope not. These are muddy waters and I think what it boils down to is that folk will have accounts closed when their behaviour is seen to be disruptive rather than when they express views which others may find offensive. Freedom of speech is a precious thing and being offended once in a while is the price we pay for that. So how can you avoid being exposed to these morons and offended by what they say? Simple. Do what I do and stick to CTO.

  8. Check his expenses. Given what he has claimed for in the past I assume Mr. Alexander would have no qualms claiming costs back on something like a football ticket!

  9. Old news rehashed. You have seen the blueprints I assume ? All I have really seen or heard about is converting existing terracing into ICT style 'temporary' stands to bring it up to 6000 seats ... a full 1773 seats less than TCS. The only advantage they may have is that there could be stands on all 4 sides, but more of that below. Also, the project length is about the same as it took to build our stands, and the cost is lower (presumably because the stands themselves are smaller), so not sure how that automatically equates to a better facility ? What would be even more concerning to me if I was a County fan would be what seems to be a pretty wide scope of cost ... If they are ready to build, and know how long it will take, then how do they not have the cost nailed down a bit more accurately? with a variance of 33% in terms of the low and high ends of their projected figures it seems they may well be looking to see where corners can be cut economies can be made. Depends how you define 'temporary' in terms of the structure. Temporary in this sense means it has a certain lifespan as opposed to say a brick built structure that might last for a century or more. In this context temporary does not equate to short term or "cheap" that you seem to think it does and these stands will be around for a good few years. Whilst construction was quick and efficient, due in no small part to the design of the structures themselves, and a Caley Thistle season-ticket holding project manager who was "motivated" to make sure the project finished as quickly as possible, they were not "thrown up" ... and they will not be bulldozed quickly either given that they cost in excess of 7 figures to construct. Unless you have been living under a rock, or at sea for a while, you may have noticed we're not exactly flush with cash at the moment but if you want to donate a couple of million to the fund to get it up and running feel free to do so. As for bashing the board ... predictable and snoozeworthy as usual. incidentally, to add to the "temporary" stands debate .... the entire structure of BMO Stadium in Toronto with the exception of the main stand is of a similar "temporary" nature and quite happily holds 20,000+ for every home game. It cost in excess of $62m to build these "temporary" structures .... and like ICT, TFC will not be tearing them down anytime soon .... unless it is to increase the size of the stadium. Could have something to do with the high pressure gas transmission line that runs alongside the A9 between the stadium and the road .... in fact, I know it has because this was given as the reason when this subject was debated in depth on here and also on P&B. Utter bollocks !!!

  10. Can't understand the clamour to support the fans of 'the twins of evil' on here. I see the bill as a clear attempt to deal with vile sectarian chanting and abuse. Surely this has to be welcomed? I am perfectly capable of enjoying myself at a match without the need to resort to such abuse and get surprised at how many seem unable to do so. The day when you get evicted or arrested for singing good natured banter is not upon us. This is being promoted by fans of the OF to try to garner support and legitimise their own unacceptable behaviour. I find it quite ironic that they are now in a joint crusade (probably an offensive word to some but doubt I'll get arrested for using it!) to normalise such crass bile and appear to be winning friends from other supports who supposedly hate everything the stand for. Confusing? 100% behind the bill and anyone that is bold enough to try to address this hideous cancer.

  11. Glad he's gone...............??? Tell me more, like why are you glad he's going? I wish he had stayed because he is the quality of player we need in the midfield.

  12. I'm sure I saw somewhere, can't remember where a quote from Mick McCarthy saying his preference would be to loan him out closer to home or to a Championship club. I think that may have been a bigger factor on his decision to leave (if he had a say in the first place) rather than him simply not wanting to be here.

  13. On a non - Labour note, did Danny Alexander re-new his ICT season ticket this year? Or does that only happen a year before a general election? I've sent 2 emails to him whilst he's been MP. The last one was regarding the cancellation of buses in the evening in certain areas of Inverness. Since I have family members this will affect i thought it important to plea to the 'local MP'. 33 days later... yes, 33 days later I received a reply from his PA telling me that Danny was very busy and if I wanted to discuss it further I should come to a surgery. He refused to answer. He refused to do his £65,000 a year job. Now I was until about half a year ago a member of the Liberal Democrats. I canvassed for them down in Edinburgh and then Glasgow and I am disgusted by what has happened in the last year. Now I effectivally oppose the Lib Dems. There are great people within the Liberal party but unfortunately the Lib Dems have been hijacked by complete frauds such as the ginger rodent and Clegg (Clegg himself was a member of his Universities 'Conservative Club'). Back to Labour.... erm, Ed Millibean. Leader? I think not!

  15. I agree with and support every word he says....ok, maybe not every word, but there's no denying that Scottish Football is in a mess, those running the game are making it worse and that the media are a bunch of shysters. The fact that everyone seems to bend over backwards to appease the OF, deliberately or not, is also something that cannot be denied. Whether it's them getting more than their share of "favourable" decisions on the pitch, avoiding punishment through unsporting means, failure on the part of the authorities to deal with the culture that drags so many to "the cause" or biased reporting by the media...it all creates and promotes an environment by which no team can hope to compete, even when they are willing to spend money trying to achieve it. Vlad's perhaps not the best person to hold up as a shining example of football philanthropy, but he's not the only person to have pulled his financial support from a club on the basis that they refuse to bankroll it in a biased and un-level operating environment. He makes it easy for people to mock him instead and ignore the points that are made among all the crazy crap...but he's perhaps not as "Mad" as his is sometimes labelled.

  16. I think he has been good for us. He will probably be missed in midfield. and good luck to him. But, against Dunfermline, should we be playing a player who doesn't want to be here. I would rather let him go down the road, and let someone come in and try to win a place in the team. Someone who wants, and will be here after the weekend.

  17. Actually, whenever I see the London 2012 logo, I can't help thinking about Lisa Simpson, erm, performing an act. Although I think that says more about me than the logo.

  18. Just watched the 'highlights' on the BBC. Shocking 'leg breaking tackle' on Foran...no free kick..no yellow card (or red). That had straight red written all over it. Fantastic strike by Hayes for the equaliser and I'd blame Esson (and Golobart) for their goal. He seemed to far to his left in my opinion and invited the curler into the net...maybe. And the Hayes free-kick that struck the wall - it was never 10 yards. Not even a booking!!! WTF?? In relation to the 6yd and 18 yd box's I'd say the wall is at 7 yds maybe 8yds.

  19. That's exactly how i feel about Supporters' Trusts. I long ago gave up worrying about the opinions of those who do no more than sit at home and mouth off via a keyboard. If my willingness to step up to the plate and do more than mouth off sets me apart from those people and brings me in for a bit of criticism...so be it, I would rather be criticised for doing something than criticised for doing nothing at all. People are entitled to their opinion, but I rest easy knowing that the Supporters Trust are at least trying, instead of expecting everyone else to do the work for them.

    • Relegation Statement
RELEGATION STATEMENT: This could have been said ten minutes after our defeat to Hamilton three days ago. So far, this is not the news that we on Caley Thistle Online wanted to hear. Pleased that we will still function as a club, disappointed that resignations have not been offered yet. Keeping fans waiting in silence for three days is unforgivable and relationships are drifting further apart than ever before. Silence is not the way forward, we deserve better as fans.

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

    • Hamilton 2-1 Inverness CT - Play off final 1st Leg
A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.

    • Inverness CT (1-2) Hamilton - Play off Final 2nd Leg - Preview
The hurt, the pain, the reluctance and pig-headedness to listen to the fans asking what is going on, the lack of communication, the lack of ambition, the stench of mismanagement, the concert company, the battery farm, the demise since winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, the lack of passion, the lack of commitment, the dwindling fanbase, the lack of leadership. It has left the fans comfortably numb

    • Hamilton -V- Inverness CT - Play off Final 1st Leg - Preview
However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.
