  1. Its exciting however you look at it, every team is inconsistent and evenly matched, predicting positions and results is almost impossible. Lets hope we can pick up a few wins and have a more comfortable position in the top 6. i'm assuming next year will be even better though, once the newco arrive, armageddon will be over so no more of this dull SPFL we are seeing and an exciting season will lie ahead....................

  2. Hughes said: “Dean is getting closer. I said many months ago I reckoned it would be the end of February before he’d be looking for games. “He’s working hard and he’s getting there. He’s starting to look good and he’s now doing a lot of specific stuff which is good news for him. “We’ve got a decision to make on who will be the goalkeeper next year. “It will be one or the other, I don’t think we’ve got the finance to keep the two of them but that decision is for a couple of months’ time. “It’s the way football goes. That’s what’s good about it, when we’ve got competition for places it really pushes people along to give it their best shot.”

  5. I think I'm one of the most optimistic/positive guys you could meet but for some reason I'm just not getting that feeling this season. It seems to have been a struggle all along from that Richie Foran goal where we managed to beat the mighty Nairn County 1-0 in pre season with a full strength squad right up to beating the Dons 3-1 I just don't see us as a top 6 team i think of Yogis signings like Sekaja, Sho Silva and Lopez and think WTF? Mutombo has done ok as did Miles(who wears a magic hat) Storey originally , there has obviously been injury problems along the way though we have pretty much had our strongest squad with the exception of Doran and More recently Meekings and Vincent for some time now Down at Stirling a few weeks back we looked really poor against a team that were approx 30 places behind us at that time and even after beating them up here we still seemed to plod along with the pissy passy this way and that way stuff with little or no end product, I don't ever seem to recall as much frustration in the North stand over the last 20 years as I did that night. Who knows maybe we expect too much these days ? Many times At work I've had people saying to me that the first season or two under Hughes is great and then it usually goes awry when he takes in his own players Fisher Ryan Williams and Liam Hughes the verdict is out yet as they haven't had time But what really seems to get to me is the sheer lack of entertainment this season. Week in week out we sit in the stands hoping for something as most fans do yet more often than not at the end of the game we all seem to be glad it's over and rarely seem to see huge grins on the faces with a Lets go to the Caley club to celebrate attitude. I could well be talking bulls*** as I've had copious amounts of jd and Coke with a few lagers on the side but right at this moment I'd love to be sitting at Kingsmills again watching the 3-0 demolition of Kilmarnock or even down at Parkhead watching us getting beat with Mo Johnstone scoring or dare I say it even the game where the other lot drew with st Johnstone . There seems to be a lack of excitement and enjoyment this season, maybe it's a come down after last season which was pretty special but I don't see anything that will bring fans to the ground . I don't think I've ever written so much some will agree with some of it some will disagree and TBH I've pretty much forgotten where I started . Never drinking again!! I think I've prob said that before as well p.s. Back to the Nairn county game I enjoyed the pies the weather was great The football was shoite but I was still optimistic. Where did that go??

  7. I don't think conserving energy was a concious plan or tactic, but there's some evidence to suggest that when players are subjected to so many games with little recovery, they display more conservative pacing strategies in order to preserve high-intensity activity, whether consciously or subconsciously. In response to the question about whether our training regime had anything to do with the injuries of the players, I most certainly think it does. At the start of the season, we had countless players dropping out through injury. I would guess that because of the Europa League games, the players went from doing nothing during the off-season, to all of a sudden being subjected to a high training load, which has been proven to increase the risk of injury. This is why careful management of training and recovery is essential to be successful in the modern day game. Lower injury rates and higher player availability are associated with performance throughout the season, and there's no doubt we'd be in a better position with less injuries. Maybe we should take a leaf out of County's book and higher a full-time sport scientist to work alongside the coaching staff and help to design and monitor a training programme.

  10. I think both keepers are pretty evenly matched. OFW certainly looking a safer bet right now given that we're actually getting to see him play and Brill has been out for some time. Mindful of Hughes saying that he couldn't offer Vincent a deal because of his injury record the same might apply for Brill. Deano however is unquestionably the more handsome of the two but OFW paints. It's a toughie...

  12. No you're right I wasn't, and I don't know what it was like for those who supported these teams so I can't judge how people felt about it. But unfortunately I'm one of these young a***holes that likes people to move on from the past! And it winds me up to hell when people mention this merger and more so when I say "Caley" or "the jags" and someone tells me it's "Inverness" or "Caley thistle". So as much as people will hate me for it and disagree, the club and the fans have to move on from then and only look forward! You may still feel upset or angry about the merger but like everything else in the past...its history. now I haven't meant to upset anyone about this topic but there is one or two out there who won't talk about anything other than the merger so for those people they now have these new clubs to go and watch!

  13. Quick thinking! A man walked into the produce section of his local ALDI supermarket and asked to buy half a head of lettuce. The boy working in that department told him that they only sold whole heads of lettuce. The man was insistent that the boy ask the manager about the matter. Walking into the back room, the boy said to the manager, "Some old ******* outside wants to buy half a head of lettuce." As he finished his sentence, he turned around to find that the man had followed and was standing right behind him, so the boy quickly added, "and this gentleman kindly offered to buy the other half." The manager approved the deal and the man went on his way. Later, the manager said to the boy........... "I was impressed with the way you got yourself out of that situation earlier, we like people who can think on their feet here, where are you from son?" "New Zealand, sir," the boy replied. "Why did you leave New Zealand ?" the manager asked. The boy said, "Sir, there's nothing but prostitutes and rugby players there." "Is that right?" replied the manager, "My wife is from New Zealand”. “Really” said the boy, “Who did she play for?”

  15. But yet in your 3 posts you haven't raised a single thing yourself. As a number of posters have pointed out, it is the SNP who have high jacked the referendum to drum up further grievance for their independence campaign. Only Alex has tried to defend the SNP position by pointing out good reasons for Scotland to be part of the EU, but he seems to miss the point that these are also reasons why Scotland is also better being part of the UK. It would be helpful if the SNP would actually accept the will of the people as expressed in the independence referendum and respect the democratic process that follows. We voted to be part of the U.K. and therefore must accept the will of the UK as a whole. Only when the SNP can show a bit of leadership for a change and honour basic democratic principles can there be any hope of having a proper debate in Scotland on the issues which matter.

    • Relegation Statement
RELEGATION STATEMENT: This could have been said ten minutes after our defeat to Hamilton three days ago. So far, this is not the news that we on Caley Thistle Online wanted to hear. Pleased that we will still function as a club, disappointed that resignations have not been offered yet. Keeping fans waiting in silence for three days is unforgivable and relationships are drifting further apart than ever before. Silence is not the way forward, we deserve better as fans.

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

    • Hamilton 2-1 Inverness CT - Play off final 1st Leg
A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.

    • Inverness CT (1-2) Hamilton - Play off Final 2nd Leg - Preview
The hurt, the pain, the reluctance and pig-headedness to listen to the fans asking what is going on, the lack of communication, the lack of ambition, the stench of mismanagement, the concert company, the battery farm, the demise since winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, the lack of passion, the lack of commitment, the dwindling fanbase, the lack of leadership. It has left the fans comfortably numb

    • Hamilton -V- Inverness CT - Play off Final 1st Leg - Preview
However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.
