  1. Ya beauty!
  2. I remember seeing an interview before he retired, where he said he would like to go into financial services. But hopefully he didn't get any tips from Dominic Keane :thumb04:
  3. Coia & Ginja were at Arbroath, first time I've seen them at a game for a couple of years.
  4. The Hall of Fame beckons
  5. There segregation fence/gate was open, and the home fans changed ends every half.
  6. And in the UEFA Cup, Nancy & Lorraine face their Mother, well!
  7. Yes, they referred to him as "Dangerous Dave". A very capable defender but was a bit error prone. Not the worst signing we could make, but he's not the replacement for Dods that we are crying out for.
  8. Interestingly if you Google "Gayfield pics" the first entry returned is this thread, and the second one is Mantis's Bebo page, possibly.

Aye, the 2 clubs are easily confused.

My player ratings : Esson 7 Rossco 6 Duff 6 McGuire 6 (actually played very well apart from 1 mistake letting them through on goal) Djebi-Zadi 6 (Good strong running up and down the pitch all night, gets past players. Some laughable final balls) Wilson 7 (Class act. Other players missed opportunities to send him clear) Vigurs 6 (Composed performance, good passing, 2 of his 3 backheels worked out well, but not physical enough) Black 7 (Ran the midfield, never wasted the ball) Cowie 5 (Complacent performance) Wood 4 (Looked out of his depth, easily dealt with) Rory 4 (Same as Wood, but was involved in the game a bit more. Swiped fresh air from 12 yards out, and failed to control a terrible kick-out from their keeper. Only 4 days left to find someone who will take him. Arbroath wouldn't.) Subs : Imrie 5 (Stupid yellow, ran to the home fans after scoring his penalty) Barrowman 3 (2 stupid yellows and a generally disgraceful performance.) Rooney 6

Just home from the game. I can confirm that we won (just how vitriolic would this thread be if we hadn't?)), but there were sighs of relief all round. Thimgs started well : the pub was fine, fish & chips excellent, and smokies braw. Then we went to the game. We did actually start quite well, and to be honest looked very comfortable at half time, no concerns at all. Excellent, composed goal from Vigurs (with his family there to watch), cancelled out immediately by a shot from the edge of the box that deflected off Duff's challenge and looped over the keeper. Wood turned and poked home a loose ball to put us in front, and despite a deterioration in perfomance we still looked more likely than Arbroath to score again. Barry almost did, ghosting past 3 defenders along the edge of the box before forcing the keeper into a good parry. Most unexpected moment of the game was when Djebi-Zadi lauched himself into an overhead kick from 20 yards, made good contact and got it on target. The pairing of Wood and McAllister (Rory, oh dear oh dear) had been ineffective all game, and I thought replacing them with Rooney and Barrowboy would finish the game off, but they weren't much better. Barrowman did nothing, other than get booked for kicking the ball away and then get a second yellow after the brawl. Worrying. Arbroath kept pushing forward and had a half decent penalty claim turned down, but then got awarded one when they clearly shouldn't have. An Arbroath fan I was talking to at the end admitted it was never a pen, but was adamant that the first claim should have been given. All through extra-time we were just terrible, truly awful. Teamwork, shape and discipline were poor, and Rossco did not contribute much in the way of leadership. Looking for positives : 1) All 4 penalties were very well taken 2) Vigurs did well 3) Couldn't fault Esson, who made a couple of good saves 4) Black and Wilson showed their class Negatives : 1) Nothing upfront 2) McGuire and Duff each failed to deal with a simple through ball and let a player through on goal each time 3) Some very erratic passes/crosses from Zadi. A simple 10 yard pass under no presuure nearly went into the North Sea. All in all, we all felt lucky and relieved to have made it through that one.
  12. Yes. Uganda has launched an appeal for food parcels.
  13. Is that THE Gary Farquhar playing for Wick?
  14. Can you imagine any issue where the fans would agree on their stance? You just have to look through this forum to see the diversity of views on pretty much any topic.
  15. Scotty, the construction of west stand would not be an expense in the accounts. It would be treated as an asset in the balance sheet, not an expense in the P&L. The profit on selling Rankin would be included though, but wouldn't amount as much as some people might expect. Say we got ?110k cash, about ?30k went to County leaving maybe ?80k net revenue for us. His book value in the accounts prior to selling him would maybe have been about ?35k, meaning the accounting profit on sale would have been about ?45k.
  16. Attendances down, league placing income down, player wages up (even excluding Marius), larger squad, more expensive coaching/management structure, higher admin salary bill?
  17. Indeed. We basically lose thousands of pounds every week, and need transfer income and cup runs to remain viable.
  18. It surprises me that the inconsistent Gary Kenneth is preferred to him.
  19. Bit harsh on Zadi, I recall that County offered him a contract extension and he declined. And by your own admission there's nothing wrong with the other players Brewster has brought in so far, so to say he doesn't have a clue is a bit unfair. And who knows, his faith in Duff may be a masterstroke, time will tell. Your last 2 sentences may well be spot on.....but as you said in your first sentence there's still a week to go. Rabbits, hats etc
  20. I was thinking there was a payment per game as well as that, must have been getting confused with Sky cup matches.
  21. Surprising and disappointing for us to not even feature once. Even Hamilton get 3 home games broadcast. Perhaps the price of fuel is restricting the Setanta trucks to the central belt more than usual! What's the fee the home club gets paid per live match?
  22. Just seen the match highlights - what a fantastic save from Tokely's header.
  23. Is Darran Thompson still playing anywhere? I remember he was at Alloa the season after he left us, but couldn't get into their team. Can't find any record of him playing after that. Perhaps he heeded the fatherly advice I once offered from the touchline: "Give serious consideration to any non-footballing opportunities that may arise for you in order to maximise your long term earnings potential and achieve career stability" was my recommendation.
  24. I've added a poll to this thread.
  25. Nish seems to have been scoring against us regularly for about 8 years, going back to Clyde in Div 1. We must be his favourite team.
