Women at ICT games

Got to admit i'm pleasantly surprised regarding the amount of women that attend the Caledonian stadium, i sit in the main stand normally and around about me there are usually quite a few, one or two are even quite pleasing on the eye

Before the snipers start firing i'm by no way saying this is a bad thing because i think it important the club welcomes everyone through the turnstyles despite the odd cringeworthy shout :notlistening:

Having said all that my partner hates football and the only time she's being in the stadium was for Elton John & Rod Stewart

You have to ask though do the majority really understand the game and its rules

Have ICT always had a large following of the female persuasion?

Have thought long and hard about replying to this one as Dougal seems to specialise in shall we say controversial topics.

What crap. Personally Ive been going to football for over 30 yrs starting at Telford St all those yrs ago. i was even involved in the running of Caley thre for a while even as a mere woman. This is the 21st century and surely the days of familites attending football matches is well established.

There Ive taken the bait so be it!

Dougal must be running out of daft topics to post now...although I'm sure he will get in a couple more.

I specialise in contoversial topics as the majority on here seem somewhat afraid to do so

When you say you were involved in running Caley does this mean collecting the raffle money or cutting up the oranges for half time??

I applaud absolutely everyone who plays his or her part in the running of a football club no matter how small the part is, providing its not to line their own pockets of course :clapping:

Yeh I did the oranges lets just leave it at that!Of course my womans brain is not able to cope with anything else especially the rules of a football game. Note to self must not get imvolved in a fishing topic again.........

Like Old Caley girl I thought long and hard about replying to this post too. And yeah I'm rising to the bait.

I'm a woman and a qualified referee so don't insult my intelligence by saying I know less about the game than you do simply because I have different body parts to you. Many a discussion is held in my and Mr Caleyjag's house about a 'controversial' refereeing decision which Mr Caleyjag doesn't agree with but I can (sometimes lol) explain to him why the referee has given the decision that he has.

And to the folk posting about the number of female fans we have I do think that our percentage of female fans is slightly higher than other clubs, I put this down to our club being younger than others, therefore more families coming?? I don't know, but you can certainly tell it when you see the quality of our ladies facilities as compared to other clubs.

It's not that others are afraid to at all it's just on a subject like this there was no reason to start a thread about it and we also have a lot more respect than to feel it necessary to start one. What's the difference between guys or girls watching football or going to football?

The only reason you clearly start controversial threads is to be noticed because nothing else you can or will say will get any kind of response.

I am a woman last time i cared to look--an old woman and I did not realise they had changed the rule that when you pass the ball back to the goal mannie he cannae pick it up--how long ago did they do that as you used to be able to do so--so I know nowt re football anymore!

There are indeed more women going to matches. In general this is a good thing but it can occasionally lead to some inappropriate behaviour. This was the case yesterday as IHE reported.

Imrie scored with a cute wee chick

Now that is what ya call a Freudian slip and possibly accurate to boot. :tongueincheek:

Know the game? Take the test. Every time you open the link you get different questions.

Good Link TSNY

I only got 7/10 on my first submission :cry:

Its cool - every time you open it you get a different set of questions. These are the questions used in the referee exam. Some of them seem pretty obscure in an SPL setting but during games in public parks you'd be amazed what can happen.

You're treading a thin line here Dougal and probably going to get a lot of people annoyed with your persistantness towards this stupid ridiculous post that you created.

The three links you have posted show nothing more than what also happens in mens football so just because it involves women don't highlight it like some exhibition trying to make out that 'this is what happens when women ......''

I think it's about time the thread was removed or taken down to stop others posting because you clearly are not being objective at all throughout any of this thread and I can see from previous threads there are a few who have been offended by it including me, and yes I am a man not a woman!!!!

I find when I make a "mangina" I forget the rules of the game, suddenly start enjoy looking at the players legs, wonder why we don't change the strip colours (Red and Blue soooo clash with each other) and start posting p1sh like Dougal.

8/10. Oh well, I'm too old to take up reffing anyway. Apparently shinguards are compulsory?

Safety first Mantis, safety first...

Incidentally the players are not supposed to tape round their ankles.

8/10! No bad for a woman

Jeez your easily offended . Try the Celtic boards where you'll find more easily offended folk .

Maybe offended was the wrong word to use, I was trying to make a point more than anything.

ICT fans of either gender are highly intelligent .... after all, we did choose to support ICT !!!!

I don't doubt for one minute they are not but you chose Celtic first unless i'm mistaken

That makes me even more intelligent then doesnt it ... for realising my mistake and rectifying it !!! :tongueincheek:

However, as with many of your more tedious posts, you are only spouting half-truths .... It wasnt a case of choosing Celtic first .... It was not possible to support ICT prior to 1994 so I chose Caley first and was a Caley supporter who had Celtic as his 'big team' like so many others who supported Caley but followed other teams too. I was a semi-regular at Telford Street prior to the merger (work permitting) and the first time I set foot in Parkhead was in the away end as an ICT supporter !

Even the most refusenik of refuseniks (Kavs) conceded that my support for ICT (and lack of support for Celtic) from day 1 of ICT was not in doubt. Despite his hatred of the way ICT came about, he could respect people following their hometown team "whose name he would try never to mention" !!!

I have never tried to hide my allegiances - present or former, and dont need to hide behind an anonymous pseudonym to have a dig at anyone, veiled or otherwise. As someone at ICT once told me .... "the musings of anonymous posters whose only function in life seems to be to try and wind folk up are, quite frankly, irrelevant".

Incidentally - on the subject of female referees .... Toronto FC had 3 games refereed by a (FIFA listed) female ref in the Canadian Championship in 2008 and 2009 and she did a good job ... better I would say than most of her male counterparts in MLS. And even the ref who was 'groped' in the clip handled the situation with common sense !
