Highland Derby

This game yesterday was being built up on here like it was going to be similar to some of the great football derbies on the planet!!!!!

What a complete and utter damp squib it turned out to be, there is seriously something wrong when the away fans outnumber and outsing the home support

To be fair to the Elgin fans they generated a good atmosphere and if it wasn't for them the game would have passed by like a training exercise

Only ?10 to get in yet ICT cannot muster 1500 fans WTF? Don't think sitting in the main stand that i have ever seen the North Stand so empty and so quiet

Spoke to some older Elgin fans in the pub after the game and they couldn't believe how poor an atmosphere there was and how there was so few ICT fans, i must admit i had to agree with them sadly

They sang at the game what a sh***y home support and SPL yer having a laugh and they were completely justified on yesterdays debacle

Things can only get better i suppose so onwards and upwards lets hope we get an away tie in the netx round

Pre merger if a mob was coming to Inverness to play any of the teams a "welcoming committee" would have been on hand to greet them , the committe would have been made up of fans of all 3 Inverness sides . No way would Elgin have been allowed to swagger about our town taking the p!ss at will .

Sad day indeed if that was the case. You'd think the younger generation would get their act together. Not as if there is a shortage of headers in the town.

Was speaking to a few older headers ( ex ICI ) yesterday who were disgusted at the way Elgin had the run of the town on Saturday , was talk of an ICI reunion if it had gone to a replay .

Did you notice that they all kept away on Friday nite - they must have heard about the Caley Animal Reunion.

You think they would have seen that coming. Elgin must be p!shing themelves at what Inverness football fans have become.

Great post dead ball specialist.

Manfer - Half empty. I'd say there's more Killie fans there than orcs though...

The NoS Cup is not a senior national competition. As you pointed out, we played our resrve/squad/u19 players, like we do every year in this competition.

This was the first time since ICT were formed that we have played Elgin City in a national competition full stop.

Their money was welcome though.

Revenue for Cup fixtures is shared is not?

Aye, but a tenner each from 1200 Elgin fans is a lot better than if we had Hamilton or Alloa at home, plus whats declared is always underestimated.

Bit like the way your business works!

Firstly, its not a Highland derby because Elgin is not in the Highlands.

Elgin is in the Highlands.

It is not situated in the council area known as Highland, but it is in the Scottish Highlands which is classed as being anywhere north of the Highland Boundary Fault.

Have you never wondered why the Highland League is called so despite having only 4 clubs from the Highland Council area?

Geography in Inverness schools not too great then?

Probably been drinking too much Highland malt whisky from Speyside

JESUS CHRIST!!! 13'000, and Kilmarnock is only 25 miles from Glasgow. Something is seriously wrong here. Sounds like the Kilmarnock fans are out singing the Rangers fans as well, wheres your famous ICF?

Disgrace!

Moray is a nice area. Prefer the highlands though (except Dingwall).

I wish... lot more cash involved in your business than mine.

Or Dundee. 40 fans was it last time they were up?

It is not in the Highland council area, but it is in the Highlands of Scotland, yes.

Elgin is as much in the Highlands as they are in the 5th round of the Scottish Cup!

As i understand it Elginfan is correct, Bounday wise it doesnt fall under the Highlands, but Geographically speaking, Elgin and even Aberdeen are in the "Scottish Highlands"......or something along that lines

Geographically the boundary of the highlands of Scotland is the highland fault line that runs from the Isle of Arran through Helensburgh to Stonehaven. North of this line is the Highlands. Highland Region is a different area though.

All this debate however is :offtopic01:
