New ICT Podcast

Hello,

With the new season upon us a few ICT supporters have gotten together to produce The Wyness Shuffle, the first, as far as we are aware, podcast covering ICT. Hopefully you enjoy (most of) it and it sets you up nicely for the season ahead. The first episode will be available tomorrow so give it a listen when it's available and let us know what you think either here on online on the Twitter or Facebook page for the pod.

In the future we'll hopefully get some interviews with various (ex) ICT players or managers but if you have any suggestions as to what you might like to "see" in another podcast let us know and if you'd like to get involved in any capacity send us a message

Cheers!

I couldn't care less about the stadium aesthetics or bushes. That won't bring back fans. The match day experience will. At the moment its a souless experience for all involved with fans and sometimes

  • This is the plan for podcast 4. We're going to invite them on, cross-breed them in the lab adjoining the studio and create the ultimate ICT supporter, a statistician in a vest known only as Grimpson.

  • Cheers! And thank you for taking the time to offer a few suggestions for future pods. We have been taking turns to do player ratings at each match, so a player of the month is potentially something we

Question for Wyness. Mitch Bavidge?

Edited by aaroncoganshogun

Did he enjoy/appreciate his song 'used to *****/but now he's alright'?

Or would he have preferred something a bit more complimentary?

Does he regret any of his career move choices? Particularly the Hearts move when he may have had plenty of different offers.

Does he regret leaving straight after the Scottish cup game we had against Celtic in which he scored the winning goal and not taking part in the celebrations after the match?

If he could have scored any goal from history then which one?

Either of Maradonas goals against England,

Van bastens thunderous shot,

Archie gemmels goal against Holland.

Or any other??

Who was his favourite strike partner?

Cheers for (some of) these questions folks. We've got most of them in the doc in one form or another. 11 pages of questions. Could be a long one...

@RiG when is the interview due out?

We recorded it last night and hopefully I can get it ready for a release over the weekend. At this stage I'd say probably Sunday.

Dennis was fantastic to speak to and happily answered anything we threw at him. Very honest and open about his career so hopefully you guys will enjoy it as much as we did!

Yeah he fairly opened up as we went on. His recollection of ICT games was really excellent and I was a little sad that we had to end the chat and then had to cut out about 30 minutes to try and get it to a reasonable length!

That was really good, listening to ICT’s most modest legend just talking openly and honestly. Brought back so many memories of that era, and it really helped that he has such good recollection of games and events from 15-20 years ago.

Credit too to the interviewers who did a very professional job and had clearly done a lot of research and preparation which didn’t go noticed.

Would it not have been possible/practical to have a Pt1 and Pt2? Just a thought.

Anyway, besides that, well done guys and especially to His Royal Wyness I really enjoyed that. For a chap who kept himself to himself he could fair rattle once he loosened up. A round of a applause to all involved.:clapoverhead:

The problem with researching stuff for Wyness was that so many of the internet sources no longer exist especially for his first spell with us. Even when he came back to us details around it are pretty sketchy although there are still some posts on here from 2008 which covered the contract saga which I was able to turn up having recalled the disagreement playing out in the local press at the time.

Ian Broadfoot's book "Going Ballistic" was critical to the research of Wyness's earlier years at ICT. Without that we would have been pretty thing on 1999 - 2003 information. If anyone hasn't got a copy yet the club are still selling them for £5. I had to order a replacement copy as I've lost my original signed copy.

As for releasing it as a two parter it's not something we think is a good idea on the whole. We did that with the Tremarco and Tansey interview and the second part saw a 30% drop in listeners which was a shame and we were wary of having something similar happen again.

A great listen. He sounded a bit nervous at first but as soon as he heard you guys knew your stuff you could hear him relaxing. Came across as a really nice guy which is always good!

Thanks @FrontRow appreciate that. But if you think he was nervous you should have seen the state of me before we started!

Ok then, Barry Robson next...

Really grateful for all the kind comments about the pod here, and glad everyone seems to have enjoyed it. Thank you.

I think this is spot on. He mentioned something early on about us having done our research, and he seemed to appreciate that. I think he was determined to give the best interview he possibly could, and either he's got an incredibly good recall of the narrative of his career, or he'd taken the time to do a bit of research and revision of his own. Either way, it says a great deal for him that he was so generous with his time and his memories and, as you say, a really nice guy.

He's maybe not that many people over Aberdeen way asking him in depth about his time with us. So maybe he was quite happy to bring it all back to the forefront of his memories.

Despite there not being much in the way of football recently we've still be able to record a new podcast for you all.

We chat about the recent games with Arbroath and Morton, look ahead to the plethora of upcoming matches, hear from Anthony McDonald, Scott Allardice and Gary Locke and there's a chance to win another signed ICT shirt! What more could you want?

Available on Apple (when it syncs), Google, Spotify and all the usual places.

Always helpful if you can spread the word of the podcast so if you know anyone who might be interested in giving it a listen but hasn't done so yet why not give them a nudge to check it out. Cheers!
