Raith Rovers Pre-Season

Tough ask for the young team today away to Raith Rovers. Its a 2:00pm kick off at Starks Park against one of the Championship favourites for this season.

Clach - £10; Nairn - £10; Raith - £5 go figure 🤣

Good luck to the youngsters. I'm sure they'll be a darn sight more interesting to watch than that debacle of a game last night [Portugal v France]

I gave up on Portugal v France at the start of extra time. It reminded too much of watching Caley Jags game over the last couple of seasons. Sideways, backwards, sideways, forwards, sideways, backwards, backwards, back to the keeper, rinse repeat.......

Spot on. Let's hope our youngsters know the way forward this season despite what Ferguson might dictate

Clach and Nairn both had free concessions so swings n roundabouts.

Raith's pre-season so far.

East Fife 0-0 Raith Rovers

The game ended 0-0 with both teams relatively happy with a good work out and touch-wood, no injuries. Next up for Rovers is a trip to Montrose on Wednesday before the only home friendly against Inverness on Saturday.

Montrose 0-1 Raith Rovers

Callum Smith with a second half strike was the only goal of the game but Ian Murray was impressed by what he saw when he reviewed the game later.

0-0 HT

We are doing ok, great strike from didtance saved by Dabrowski about 15 mins.

Quite happy to let Raith to have ball outside the box and they've not really done anything, wee chance at the end for them but ball refused to fall to a Raith player.

We look our most dangerous out wide thought we had a couple of chances to do something with the wing backs overlapping but we don't have enough bodies going forward so straight forward for Raith to clean up

We're continuing this one touch, pass our way out from the back / trouble, which has looked ok at times but again we then have no one forward to attack once we've passed around the press

HT: 0-0 - Ethan Cairns and Callum MacLeod on, Billy Mckay and Charlie Gilmour off

Brooks nets but just offside, Jack Newton with a couple of great saves.

Under increasing pressure this half...

ICTFC Subs: Keith Bray and Calum MacKay on, Luis Longstaff and Trialist (11) off

Paul Hanlon scored the winner in 86th minute having been down as a trialist.

Robbie Thompson rolled his ankle before kick-off and never got on the park thereafter and Billy Mckay also took a knock.

Final score Raithh Rovers 1  ICT 0. 86th minute winner

Some positives today were Newman made some really good saves, think he'll do just fine this season, and Savage and Devine looked pretty solid together.

Negatives are the formation feels too defensive for even counter attacking football, leaving Brooks up front isolated, then when we had Cairns and Brooks up top we refused to give them service. I get the impression we want to play this passing game up the park and around teams, but we get into the other half we leave too many behind and we get crowded out.

DF has only a Plan A. No Plan B so more of the same totally boring football lies ahead. Well no rush to go to any ICT games as it stands for me. Add this to the s##t show behind the scenes and it's other things to be doing on Saturday afternoons for me indefinitely.

From the P&J: Ex-Ross County midfielder Adam Mackinnon (No11), 21, was the main focal point as he was one of three new faces pitched in to Saturday’s friendly at Championship Raith Rovers, which ended in a late 1-0 loss.

Former Rothes centre half Callum Haspell (No2), also 21, and left-back Flynn Duffy (No3), 20, who was on loan at League Two Peterhead from Dundee United last term, were also handed starts at Stark’s Park.

The imminent departure of defender Nikola Ujdur, who has been linked to Queen’s Park, might free up funds for Ferguson to make signings.

Last week, the manager said he also needs a third keeper in the door, but cannot afford to add one right now.

Yeah I agree that it's going to be boring football, mostly because there seems to be no aim in how we want to attack. I have no problem playing defensive, but there needs to be a plan for how you're going to get goals, be that utilising set pieces, counter attack with pacey players on the shoulder of defenders, a big target man to hold the ball and bring in players around him. With us it's commit 3-4 players to pass around the press of 2 opposition players, get to the halfway line and realise everyone's been commited in our half to play the passes.

Another encouraging display and result for our young team .
Well done boys !!

Was impressed with MacKinnon and Duffy today. Unfortunately Fergusons hands are tied financially but would be good if some funds were freed up to allow offers to be made. Was happy with way team played

Heard from a mate Duffy was the pick of the 3 trialists.

now if only more people could accept that gardiner IS leaving and purchase season tickets before the season starts we might be able to get him on board before some other team does.
