ICT vs Cove

I read that Ex C**TY player is reffing the game this Saturday!

"A former Ross County midfielder will take charge of Caley Thistle’s League One clash with Cove Rangers on Saturday.

Jamie McCunnie, who made 79 appearances for the Staggies between 2003-2005, has been a match official for six years.

This season, the 42-year-old refereed matches in Scottish League Two, and the Highland and Lowland League."

Well.. having been a ref in lower leagues and this will be his biggest game so far, Will he be up to the task?

Heard a few chants in north stand last Saturday “ The referees from Dingwall “ repeat, repeat.

Looks like they will be correct on Saturday if they do it again.😃

Century Seekers

The second of three home game on the bounce has Cove Rangers visiting the Caledonian SarensPSG Stadium on Saturday with both sides looking to pick up maximum points for different reasons. Could it be a milestone weekend for the Caley Jags as they look to score their 100th goal in all competitions this season? Can we do it? Can Billy Mckay add to his 130 goal tally for the Caley? Can we keep ahead of the Warriors? Can the wind and rain relent for the weekend? Can former County player turned referee handle this game? Can Suzi Quatro Can the Can? All will be revealed on Saturday...

Cove Preview March14.jpg

HC0DIQHWgAAofPf?format=jpg&name=smallHere's the guys that secured all three points last week against Montrose, eventually running out 3-1 winners with goals from Billy Mckay, his 130th for the club, February PotM Alfie Bavidge and as cool as you like from Man of the Moment Jordan Alonge.

  • Last Six League1:

  • W W D D W

We started this run with a hard fought draw at Palmerston where we led twice before being pegged back in a quality 2-2 draw. We beat East Fife comfortably 3-0 and followed that with our BBC Alba extravaganza at Broadwood (0-1). The next League game was that tough 1-1 draw with Stenny when we had Ben Brannan sent off with 20m left. On the Tuesday after we beat Ayr Utd 1-2 to progress into the KDM Trophy Final. A disappointing no scoring draw at Kelty followed where we struggled to create enough clear chances and allowed the pack to close in again before last weeks 3-1 home win over Montrose. With Stenny drawing and Alloa losing in midweek, we now have a smidgeon of breathing space going into this weekend. Our game in hand is away to Peterhead.

Congratulation to our top scorer Alfie Bavidge who was named SPFL League1 Player of the Month for February with three crucial goals. Jordan Alonge also deservedly got himself into the SPFL Team of the Week. The Caley Jags are unbeaten in their last 13 games over 90 minutes in all competitions, the last defeat was 2-1 at Montrose on 27th of December. And how about a special mention for the men at the back from Ross Munro out with 16 clean sheets clapoverhead

May be an image of ‎American football, football and ‎text that says "‎STARTING XI VS PETERHEAD 1 MUTCH 2 BISLAND 7 HARRINGTON YULE 9 MEGGINSON (c) 14 MASSON 15 DARGE 18 EMSLIE 22 32 A 8 O'DONNELL PARKER 77 MAGUIRE SUBS: 21 DEMUS I 4 STRACHAN / /6 ل EGUAIBOR I 16 TEASDALE 17 MCALLISTER 20D. 20 D. EGUAIBOR I 26 CARROL ЛCЙ HILL LEAGUE‎"‎‎Cove are battling for points at the wrong end of the table but pulled off a good win in the North East derby at home to Peterhead last Saturday. Peterhead then went on to thrash Alloa Athletic 3-1 on Tuesday night much to the delight of the top two in the table.

  • Last Six League1:

  • L L W

Cove started February with a decent 1-1 draw at home to QotS, Megginson the scorer. Defeat 2-1 at East Fife, Megginson again before a 3-1 midweek win over Montrose (O'Donnell x2 & McAllister) A 1-1 draw v Kelty (Masson), defeat at Ochilview by 1-0 and last time out 2-1 win over Peterhead (Yule & Maguire)

With East Fife in freefall, it looks like Cove will be spared the relegation play-offs. Ironically East Fife's only recent win was over Cove Rangers five games ago. However, every point is crucial as we all get down to the business end of the season and there are no easy games left for any side.

Mitch Megginson is always a danger with his experience, as is former Aberdeen striker Chris Maguire. On loan Adam Emslie has pace and needs to be kept quiet.

Keeper Robbie Mutch is in charge of the gloves at the moment since signing on at the start of this season and getting his chance in early September against the Caley Jags. Calum MacLeod beat him that day with Hungarian Bálint Demus on the bench.

Montrose v Alloa is the late fixture on BBC Alba

Will miss this one

Sorry ( not ) to read in the preview you have crap weather. Arrived in Tenerife on Wednesday, first time ever exiting the plane and airport I had to put a jacket on OVER my jumper. I would say it was Baltic but that is really only the pools. Glorious sunshine today mid to high 70’s so long may it continue.

Will check our score throughout the afternoon but will set the alarm for KO time, it’s too easy to nod off like I did today.😴

FT 1-1

On 89 minutes we were gaining 2 points v Stenny, but a few minutes later they have actually gained 2 on us. Can’t do anything about their late winner but we can control our own performances and that was a very disappointing result. We should be winning games like this but often struggle to score goals.

Were some fans actually booing the team at the end of the game?.... Scott Kellacher looked very unhappy about something at the end.

On another note, Jordan Alonge looked yards onside when he was flagged offside whilst bearing down 1 on 1 with the Cove goalkeeper.

Lying on the sunbed, not a German in site, you can wander down anytime and mega free beds by any of the 5 pools TM4TJ.

A couple of hundred yards away from the hotel there is an Irish/ Celtic bar. Had to listen to all the songs over the speaker for 40 minutes, then the huge roars when Ireland ran in try after try.

Then check our score, 1 up, need another goal to kill it. Then the killer, cove on 90+4.

Oh dear.

Glad I am still here on Tuesday night

Yes do, it will be my round all the time. I think it is something to with my AI band. The wife hasn’t stood her hand since we got here.

Ps….. forgot to say the bingo is at the wee kiddies pool, I use the ones for grown ups.😉

An insipid, inept performance from the entire team. It seems that when we play teams in the bottom part of the league the players think they can just turn up and the three points will automatically be handed out

And so he should look very unhappy, after another desperately poor performance against a team near the bottom of the table. Strongest squad in the league, full time players, we should be over the hill and out of sight by now, instead no consistency of selection and frankly baffling substitutions have us stumbling towards the finish line.

Still on hols in the alps so interested to hear posters that attended. Was it a case we should have won? Was it a drop of in attack or just an expectation we expect the opposition to just yield to our superiority? - Did we get the timing and right subs ?

Obvious today we are a third trier team, finances dictate the quality and we have very little.

You are freezing, bishbashbosh is drinking beer to cool down! Enjoy your holidays, didn't miss much today, we were ok in the first half but failed to kill the game off and were poor all over the park against an average Cove side. Adam Mackinnon was ok when he came on but that was it!

That was very disappointing. We started fast and positively but didn’t manage to maintain the momentum.

Two goals disallowed (both rightly I think) for offside in the first seven minutes must be a record!

Stewart took his goal well and we should have had the game won by half time against a very poor Cove team.

The second half was very poor by both teams and the longer it stayed 1-0 the more encouraged Cove seemed.

Despite not really looking like getting a second (our best chance was when Alonge was wrongly ruled offside with the goal beckoning: he was onside, Mckay had been offside but was not interfering with play) we should still have seen the game out but gave up possession cheaply too often, and then got the sucker punch of their goalie scoring a header from a corner.

Disappointing and the boos were unjustified but we now need to make sure we win on Tuesday and establish a little daylight at the top.

I think it’s time to start Longstaff as our deliveries into the box today were poor, too often hitting the first defender or going straight out.

These damn boo-ers. Daring to express an opinion. How dare they.

🥶bc

ZZ’s missed out deliberately.

Tuesday looks like a must win game. Stenny certainly have the momentum and unlike us when we overcame a 15 point deficit to catch Dundee they probably laugh when they hear talk of Inverness going 8 points ahead. Each time that has come up...well, we know what happened next. Talking of laughing, Cove saw what happened the last time a keeper came in the last minute for a corner, so placed the corner perfectly on their keeper's head.

Once again struggled to make our authority count, really poor second half where our players looked lethargic as if they thought the game was won at 1 0! Fact that no player was MOM tells a story, no players or manager made Bar94 after the game tells a story. Boos at FT were all over, not regards result but more with performance!

Is kell theMan for the job?

We've got the title jitters. Very worrying indeed. Every game is a cup final now. I thought Stenny would eventually fade but they keep getting results. Our away encounter with them will be massive and a possible title decider. Three points on Tue night is a must.

This is almost the reverse of last week, and with our matches with Cove having been very tight affairs, maybe it shouldn't be a surprise, although it is starting to settle down into a two horse race at the moment. I wonder if Stenny's side tends to pick itself, whilst we have more options to tinker with, which can cause confusion. But at some stage Stenny may run out of puff, probably just needs one or two games to go awry for them, in fact they are hardly blowing teams away (except for one result against East Fife). What we mustn't do is set ourselves up to think that getting 3points against Stenny decides our season, nor panic if they edge ahead in the table. I agree with someone's comment about Longstaff, he should be starting more often
