  1. Well that must have been ma most energetic feckin away day in years - Speeding down the A9 in the morning, stumbling through the never ending road works from Denny to Central Glesga - registering at the Travel Inn, to the subway and at rest in Brechins fer just after 1 - half way thru ma first pint I realise that I have left my txt and Caley Stans in the feckin car and Mrs IHE as gone shopping with the car keys. So it is off on the tube to St Enochs - back to the Travel Inn - back on to a Hunn filled train, off at Ibrix and got to the Away end at 14.50 - but feck me was it worth it !! Oh and here is a hint - get yer daughters water bottle out oif the car, pour it down the drain and fill it up with voddie and coke - it sure helped me on may haphazard journey with the Hunns. I felt that we were the better team up until their spawny - ish opener. We were keeping possession well up till then, albeit not threatening. Emu completely ersed up his original control but the ball bounced to perfection and a twist of Rodd hull's right arm and the ball fairly rocketed past a helpless Esson. Now many teams would have buckled and my fear was that the Hunns would grab a quick second, but we weathered a ten minute "storm" and i actually felt that we finished the second half "even stevens" and with renewed hope of salvaging something. Have to admit that we played some pretty stuff but mostly possession with little threat in the last third and Tokely and Munro were superb with a few last minute challenges, interceptions and headed clearances. And if Rooney had got a similiar fortuitous bounce on the stroke of half time we may have gone in level and nobody would have grudged us that. Smith tried to juice it up and put on Naismith and Fleck for the hobbling Emu (fair clattered by Foran) and a very poor Weiss. We stuck to our guns although I would not have been surprised if TB had hooked Foran (thank feck he didnt)as Richie was yellow carded for a bad foul on Emu and then engaged with a running, wind up battle with McCulloch. But the longer the second half ran the more ya felt that we were in with a shout. Sure Rangers had their chances but most were poor efforts form 18-20 yards, mostly ballooning over the bar or in to the safe hands of Esson who had two great fingertip saves. Hayes was running papac ragged and we kept passing the ball and using width and pace to our best advantage - the introduction of Eric simply upped the game plan. McGregor (loved the bait chants!!) made a wonder save from foran when it looked a cert equaliser - or did Richie not place it well enuff ?? Then Foran fed Eric in - and the new Eric, outmuscled Papac (I think) and forced the ball home - but ya ran to the wrong feckin corner Eric. And i thought that we also had a fair penalty shout during that period. And although rangers tried to cheer up the rapidly leaving fan base with a late rally and 4-5 successive corners - well we simply should have pinched it when Hayes went for glory instead off laying it on a plate for Foran. Still - it is not evet day that ya stroll out of Castle greyskull, slightly disappointed that ya didnt pick upa ll there away points - CaleyWay getes better and feckin better !! And to the Smileymometer - and constructive criticism at times peepeles: ESSON     Have to repeat maself - he is the most consistent performer this season and deserves the SPL Player of the Month award. He is the anchor of the ship and must simply pour  onfidence in to those in front of him - and it shows. McCANN    Looked a bit suspect at times but was perhaps fortunate that Rangers appeared to ttarget Shinnie. But he held his ground and he does look to pass his way out of defence. My only concern is that he has a play if fit contract and not shure whether he deserved to start. ROSSCOE      Have you ever seen a better SPL performance from him - I feckin havent - Hewas feckin everywhere and Laffery didnt get a sniff - and even after that he only just edged my MOM from .... GRANTY      Most men would have been on the pissshh after fatherhood but he thankfully decided to wet the bairns head with yet another Captain Courageous performance. I would also wish to repeat that he has prospered by not having to "babysit" fellow defenders as he has done fer the last 2-3 seasons. SHINNIE    Clearly targetted and struggled at times - especially against Naismith - but he did not make any clear mistakes and battled to the dying minutes, with some great blocks in the closing minutes. HAYES     I would give him 2-3 fer the first 45 and 5 fer the second when he was simply SCARY. He found space and gave Papac and co a torrid time. Every time he got the ball we were on our feet in anticipation - and he really should have squared it to the open Foran in the closing minutes. Plus his dead ball delivery was much improved to boot. Another repeat but find consistency young Johnny and you will find the promised land. DUNCAN     Back in his effective holding role and back to being simply Russeldhino. DUFF     Experience was probably needed in central midfield. Made a couple of potentially big erros but again makes himself available and sprays ball about. Still think that he is the purrfect rite back. FORAN     Again TB went fer the central midfield packed with experience and it played off but he plays all his best football - as he did yesterday when he goes wide left - but did he put a shift in yesterday and is clearly back to full fitness. He looked literally "shocked" at the McGregor save and livid with Hayes at the last gasp chance. ROSS    Loads of effort but he is clearly less comfortable on his left foot and did not make the same kind of impact as he has done in central midfield. A good squad player who wont let us down and can play in a few positions - slthough I suspect that rite wing would be his favoured position. ROONEY     That must have been a tough loney shift but did he hold it up well and put himself about - could have really benefitted from the Hayes crosses if not fer some great positional defending from old Grandad Weier. ODHIAMBHO    Shrewd substitution and his pace clearly worried Weir and Co. To be honest, apart from the goal, it was his movement that caused a couple of flutters - but - hey - who is complaining. TERRY AND MO - clearly got the tactics rite again - I was most impressed to the return of the 4-1-4-1 system with Duncan holding behind the experienced Duff and Foran - and then we pracically went 4-4-2 and at times 4-3-3 in the second half - when we albeit were chasing thegame. SUPPORT Are we the best travelling support in Scotland or wot. Nice to see the Hunns mustering a wee singing section but we drowned them out. Plus we now have the biggest Man Boobs in Scotland - had a wee fumble on the road back to Bechins maself.

  2. Great performance yesterday. The self-belief running through the team is looking stronger every week. Terry Butcher's team selection raised a few eyebrows yesterday, with Odhiambo dropped to accommodate Duff moving back to midfield and McCann returning to right back, but it turned out to be a great decision: Duff had an outstanding game in the holding role, one careless loss of possession in the second half notwithstanding, and McCann had his best game to date for ICT. The substitution was spot on too, as Nick Ross was probably our least effective player in the second half. Although they had slightly more of the game, Rangers allowed us more time on the ball than a lot of other teams and that played into our hands: Hayes made some tremendous runs and Papac couldn't cope with him at all. Also good to see him getting his head up and putting in some great crosses, particualrly the one for Foran's header, which McGregor somehow managed to keep out. Just wish Hayes had laid the ball off to Odhiambo instead of shooting when he got into the box at 1-1, but you can't begrudge the guy having a go, given the game he'd had and his recent scoring record. Great support yesterday - probably the most vocal we've ever been at Ibrox. Dewsbury Dude even managed to make the Sunday Herald's match report... The occasion was slightly soured, however, by the death of my jeans, which split right up the back from crotch to waistband when I sat down a bit awkwardly after the goal. Had to walk back through Glasgow with my @rse hingin' oot.

  3. I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised by the police and stewards yesterday. I never saw any of our fans getting grief apart from the usual about sitting down. But the police did tell me they have been told to clampdown on fans standing and against motherwell the previous week they had been told to eject a handful to make an example. The craic was good between both sets of fans, but the constant abuse from some fans does get tiresome - you'd think some Rangers fans only go to the games to goad and abuse the opposition fans. They seem more interested in doing so rather than watching the game. I was very impressed that the police ejected 5 or 6 Rangers fans for this - something i hadn't seen before. So well done. And thanks to tmftj for giving me a lift to the game yeterday.

  6. Just in from the game and wow Rangers should feel relieved with a point. We played absolutely brilliantly from the first minute to the last and we really showed that we were there not just to get a point but to try and get all three. We passed the ball brilliantly and at times it was hard to tell that we were the promoted team and that they were the Scottish Champions. Not one player let themselves down and i hate picking out one player for particular praise but young Shinnie at left back...take a bow. I can't recall one time in the entire match where Davis, first half, or Naismith in the second half took him on and got past him. He looked so comfortable and his distribution was brilliant. Munro and Tokely defended brilliantly and that dreaded long ball didn't appear at any stage in the afternoon. I could go on singing the praises of the team all night! Terry and Mo are clearly building something special at our club and it's brilliant to be a part of it. The support this afternoon was brilliant with everyone joining in the singing and banter. The players definitely respond to that and it was great to see the players come to the fans at the end of the game and show appreciation for the support they received. Great point and in my view we were very unlucky not to get all three. Fantastic game.

  7. Can I make a suggestion with ref. to song....He plays on the left ,he plays on the right etc could County be replaced by name of team we are playing on the day .since we are no longer in same div as county.Just feel it would be more effective but thats a personal opinion wondered what others think.Good to hear our own matchday songs .

  8. I wasn't worried at all about how the stewards and police would handle things yesterday as they deal with it week in week out and handle 50000 or 60000 fans a week depending were the game is (well that's when the best fans in the world turn out), did notice that a few of the boys were spoken to but that's as far as it went, from what I saw. Common sense policing and stewarding is always the way to go, a leaf needs to be taken out of Strathclyde Police' book at other stadiums around Scotland.

  12. Didn't we have an Dons fan gloating on here that Aberdeen were top of the league for the 1st 2 weeks. I would be chuffed with a top six finish for the first time and 3rd, 4th or even 5th? place may not be that far away by then, in the meantime I'm not really giving any thought to Europe. I'm just enjoying each game as it comes.

  13. Suprised by a complete and utter lack of knowledge of our probable team. It would take a researcher less than ten seconds to look at last weeks line-up and replicate. This McCain chap sounds good, heard when we signed him that he was cheap as chips

  14. Werent Dundee claiming they'd won the league already by this time last year? We all saw how that panned out! while it would be fantastic to reach Europe there are a lot of points to be won and lost before the end of the season. Way too soon to be even be considering European qualification IMO Counting chickens and all that....

  15. Aw dont try to burst the bubble.Live for today and enjoy the fantastic run Caley are having. Who would have thought this time last year that we would be unbeaten away from home almost a year later. Its a fantastic achievement by all ,whatever happens from here on.Away days are brilliant craic. Long may they last.

  16. I missed seeing todays game as I attended a wedding at the Kingsmills Hotel, (I'd have watched it online otherwise) and experienced a phenomenon I thought was just heresay..........that of the "refusnik". Having browsed this forum on occasion, I had got the impression that there were a mere handful of locals who weren't fully in support of ICT. Today was an eye-opener in that respect. As is the case at such occasions(the wedding, remember?), the male contingent made for the nearest TV for the full-time results. Well........suffice to say, apart from a 90 year old gentleman, the rest of the company were less than pleased at the point ICT gained, and before anyone goes off on a tangent, only a couple of the fellows in attendance were of the Ibrox persuasion. Not wishing to ruin a good wedding with a bout of fisticuffs, I kept my opinions to myself, but I've got to admit, despite Charlesbannermans statements to the contrary, the anti-ICT sentiment in this city is as prevalent as ever, and some of these grey-haired chaps are, whilst normally quite genial and easy-going, still openly hostile to all things merger. The 90 year old guy obviously had immunity! I really do think I could have taken a clout had I said anything (not being 100% local, my loyalties have never been an issue). I think, not having been a regular at Telford Street or Kingsmills, I haven't betrayed anyone. Obviously this isn't the case with folk who were born & bred here. Its a bit much when you have a couple of tims scowling at you right after you've taken 2 points from Ibrox. I've just spent several hours being told by a couple of old guys that if Caley had been allowed to go it alone we'd have had none of this acrimony. Confusing place this. Having read the history, I cant see what was gained other than league status at the expense of disenfranchising the very people who were keeping local football alive. And why merge with Thistle when Clach were far more succesful? Sorry if I'm going over old ground, but after seeing the local reaction to todays result (albeit in one location) I'm more than a little bemused.

  17. Simply the best............. That was one of our best performances of the season, as good as the United game and against much better opposition. If only wee Jonny was not so greedy, but you can't blame him really. Rangers goal was a curious one, Edu dummied himself, but the ball sat up and he thumped it high and hard past Esson. Great strike, but fortunate as well. We defended brilliantly for the remainder of the first half. We were fantastic in the second half and Macgregor made a tremendous save from Foran, although he really should have scored. Foran stole the ball and a couple of passes later the ball was fed into Eric and he bundled it into the net from close range. Jonny was ripping the left back to shreds and should have won all three points for u, but hey ho. Great game of football, and I don't think I have seen us play much better, we looked like a proper team. Great support from the ICT fans, Simply the Best............

  26. Ok our home form is rubbish while our away form is rather impressive My reckoning being its down to one reason and thats because of the location and design of the Caledonian Stadium Surely if we moved to a purpose built stadium in the city we would attract more punters through the turnstyles The present location is not good enough its difficult to get there and its at best cold and windy even on summer days I'm surprised that ICT were even given permission to build a stadium there due to its proximity to the A9 and the resulting congestion it causes to the road user on match days I would much prefer a more central location preferably somewhere in the town with seating all around the pitch and not just three sides like it is at the moment No doubt i'll hear that its a beautiful location and all that but its football we are here to see not to admire the passing yachts or to spot the odd jumping dolphin Its time for the club to move onto the next level and that will be achieved by moving stadium in my mind Thoughts? 27. I cannot see us getting in to Europe for a good many years yet. If we are lucky we might get it by getting to the Scottish Cup Final. But, we are not good enough to get there in the league. Over the course of the season i think we will finish 8th. Maybe 7th at a push. Teams like Dundee United and Motherwell will be pushing eachother the whole way to get into Europe.
